- The Gobelin is a "painting by needle stitch". It's related to tapestry, but instead of being woven, it is sewn on canvas with a fine needle, point by point. Doina Marinas is a Gobelin artist from Transylvania, Romania.

yes, certainly, the Gobelin is another form of needle work, related to cross stitch, but a bit more complex, and the finished piece looks more like a painting. More info on my website (link listed on my youtube channel)
Any craft store like Michaels or anywhere you can find cross stitch materials patterns will say needlpoint embroidery on the package and usually comes as a kit, prices range from $9.00- $40.00+ or you can try ebay or amazon and find cheaper patters, some patterns are charts on a paper or the canvas will have a stamped print on it just like cross stitch. @scottiehoskins gobelin is what they call needlepoint in Europe but they are similar cross stitch as you know is an x and needlepoint aka gobelin is made a 1/2 of a full x stitch called a tent stitch to me x stitch is harder to keep looking uniform for people just starting out and gobelin is simpler, just my opinion.
