I'm so glad Dan didn't get a-the clout he was looking for.
Dan, I sympathize with you and agree it's your choice. As an explorer, open-minded thinker, open-hearted feeler, and non-judgemental person, I get it and understand where you're coming from. And I agree, societal "rules" and opinions can be maddening! You make several good points throughout your interviews but it's going to take an especially strong person to date and eventually marry Shauna. You both have very little in common and the physical things you CAN do, just her size alone (and subsequent fears) makes it difficult or impossible for her to participate. Her fear of water is real. Her fear of you finding a Venti sized woman who can wash her clothes on your abs also makes her insecure! 😂 Honestly, even a short man with dwarfism is going to get hate mail. Yes, Shauna deserves everything you said, a life, love in a man, and a future. Can you provide that though? Quite a bit of your relationship with Shauna is going to be out of your control and she has spent her whole life adapting to her "disability" and it's limitations. Those limitations won't disappear once you get married. For your marriage to last, you have to adapt YOUR life to hers. That's going to require a considerable sacrifice on your part; you may need to live here in the US so Shauna can be close to her support system aka family. You may need to settle down with a 8am-5pm job here in the States which will require you to become a US citizen...and so on. Sometimes too, those without disabilities are less tuned in to the requirements of a person with disabilities. You will find it to be quite restricting compared to the nomadic life you've experienced thus far. So, just food for thought as you navigate the twists and turns of life. But, remember, in the US, because of her unique disabilities, you're not just dating Shauna. You're dating the whole family who will expect you to become a caregiver too. 😊 Sure, you can do it. Just make sure it's what you REALLY want and that it WILL make you happy as well.
