✏️ Over 6k votes were cast on my community tab for which character should sing this song, and here we are! I love this character parallel for this song, because neither of these heroines needed a miracle - they only thought they did. And the overlapping themes of family and "vision" (one's reflection, outer appearance vs. inner self) ended up giving me a great premise!
I'll be honest, even though I included Mulan as a character option on the poll, I had no idea how tough this song would prove itself to be. 😅 Even though this is my third Encanto rewrite, it was the most difficult for me when it came to the lyrics and storytelling, partly because the musical style is so VASTLY different from anything in Mulan.
Lin's extremely recognizable, ultra-syncopated style is challenging to work with, but Anna Perkins Music CRUSHED this backing track and I think it all came together great!

Ve lo dico Mulan e Mirabel hanno qualcosa in comune entrambe hanno dei cognomi, venivano respinte dai loro familiari mettendole da parte, entrambe vogliono qualcosa di più dalla vita cantando una canzone i want, entrambe decidono di salvare i loro regni, hanno degli atti di significato eroici e per finire sono state premiate per ciò che hanno fatto per i loro regni(Mulan ha salvato l'intera Cina e Mirabel ha salvato l'intera famiglia, la casa e l'intero regno di encanto). Quindi in conclusione nonostante non hanno sangue reale hanno avuto l'onore di diventare delle principesse disney ufficiale grazie ai loro atti di significato eroici e al successo dei loro film.

Encanto starring miracle
The "I can't wait for a miracle" ending was so strong. It really felt as though she was like: "I can't wait, I have to make one."
This was sung beautifully and the lyrics were crafted expertly. ^^

The lyrics of this are stunning. They are so beautiful and moving, and the vocals behind them expressed such sorrow and regret, but also such power and strength. Perfect for Mulan.

“All I need is a choice” I feel like the next like could be “all I need is a voice” because not only does it rhyme, but it fits with Mulan, because she had a really hard time learning not to speak in a mans presence seen multiple times, and she values being able to speak up, shown in “a girl worth fighting for”

This is a work of art. Mirabel's song fits perfectly with Mulan, and I think that with the other princesses it could also fit in certain aspects, I would love for you to do Let It Go with Isabela

Can you try to re-write “I Wanna be Like other Girls” from Mulan 2 and apply it to the Madrigals? I was thinking it could work for Mirabel, Luisa, and Isabella. But it could also work for Pepa, Julieta, and Bruno.

Mulan is one of my favourite Disney characters. She’s brave and nervous and hesitant but knows what she needs to do and she does it. She leaves behind the perfect image and instead decides to be herself. This rewrite incapsulates her personality so well. Well done!

Such a beautiful adaptation. This felt like an authentic re-telling of Mulan's story through a modern day song about trauma and recovery.
Something there that wasn't there before from beauty and the beast would be a really adorable song for Rapunzel to sing!

I always love the Disney songs that come right before the inciting incident that really kicks off the story. Waiting on a Miracle, Reflection, Just Around the Riverbend, Go the Distance, how far I’ll go, etc. There’s such a relatable earnestness to them which you captured beautifully here. Mulan was my favorite growing up because she drove the plot of her own story. She didn’t wait for fate to run it’s course and just trust that everything would work out. She was so brave and relied on her own resourcefulness and unique perspective as a woman to create new tactics and see her through to the end of the war. I really missed those all important aspects of her in the live action film. You really understood the character here and did the story justice

Song suggestion: For the First Time In Forever (reprise) with either Isabela/Luisa and Mirabel, or between Mirabel and Abuela. I love the build-up to the explosion of magic/emotion towards the end of the song and I think it would be so powerful for a song including Mirabel :)
This version gives me really strong Adira vibes (from Tangled the Series); like maybe this is what she would have sang after Edmund attacked the Moonstone and banished everyone when he failed.

Beautiful! You should watch the “Disney Princess: Enchanted Tales” where they feature Aurora and Jasmine in two episodes and they also feature songs in the film! You should find a song from it, and pick a song from a Disney movie and write it down! 😊
