This is just General Mulan leading her soldiers later on in life
In the original myth/legend of Mulan she stays in the Chinese military for decades (without ANYONE discovering her secret), becomes one of it's highest ranked generals (while having to frequently dodge marriage proposals to daughters from her fellow Generals) before retiring in her 60s.
I actually like that a lot more then her failing in love and being found out and having to leave the military. Her greatest love all along was her nation and it's military.

@@bee458 As a Chinese, I would have to say based on The Mulan Ballad, she was in the military for 10 years til the war ended. At the end, despit the emperor offerred to make her his Imperial Counselor, she asked for release and went home. And her fellow soldiers never ever suspected that she's a girl. There was also no mention of any romance in the Ballad. In the story, Mulan was not a single child, she in fact had an older sister and a younger brother. The fact that she was the one who took her father's place suggests her older sister could already be married and had her own family to take care of. While her brother was simply just too young to join the army. But it's just a Ballad, a piece of literary works. The historian are still not so sure about the ture story of Mulan.

li shang being famous as the female commander the emperor put in charge of the war, her subordinates not believing she could lead them to victory because of it. she makes the training much harder because of it, and the examples she sets surprise the subordinates. they then try extra hard, because imagine being a man in this time period, where youre expected to defend females and this one is commanding you and showing how much stronger she is.
mulan shows up in disguise, and shang is immediately put off. this one doesn't have the same ego, doubt, or superiority complex that all the other men she's met had.

First, Mulan's ballad is about her getting a high ranked position in the army and still her having to refuse the proposal of marriage coming from a general for his daughter. Second... the Disney movie (the original, of course) never ever introduced an "emperor's son". I don't know where th is people getting the idea of Shang being the "emperor's son", when the movie clearly tells you he's the son of a general... and let me remind you of that scene where Shang is clearly mourning his dead father, who died in the Huns' attack.

I mea ,war weapons, in this case, elite soldiers, don't become generals, a general Is a strategist, not a much of a fighter.

Its the same with a manager, managers manage people but they need to know what they're doing to manage them. If there are multiple war weapons and the war weapon proves themselves to be more usefull as a general than as fighter they would get promoted.
