I met you at your first ever Worlds Strongest Man. You came over to say a word to your family and I was waiting patiently to ask for a photo. You took off quickly to get back to the athlete tent I believe, I didn’t want to bother you so I didn’t say anything.
I believe it was your sister who asked me if I wanted a photo with you. I said yes but I didn’t want to bother him.
She yelled for you to come back and we got a photo. I still tell people about that. I really appreciate you coming back and taking that time.

I'm The Strongest Man in the House several years running, and completely uncontested. I think now I'm going to finish this banana and go water the garden.

It's the bananas. And the gardening. Perfect diet perfect training regime.
Congratulations Mr hooper great to see fellow canadian taking his spot 👌 🎉 following from moncton new Brunswick
Looking forward to some epic battles for the foreseeable future. Wouldn’t be the same without you so glad no retirement anytime soon! 💪❤️
In 2021 I was diagnosed with CPTSD from a career in policing. I played drums in a cover band which was a good outlet and focus for me. However I was being pushed out of that band and January of this year I made the decision to leave . It was a toxic situation.
I felt like my joy was stolen from me. It was a hurtful and disappointing time.
I came across your RUclips Chanel which picked me up and inspired me. I am back to strength training and as of late been achieving personal bests. Thank you Mitchell You and the Stoltmans inspire me to be a better version of me.

Dude, apart from last weekend, you and Tom have been at it and I am the biggest Stoltman fan outside of a scotsman. However, you are The man. I'm a die hard strongman fan and you are the only athlete that physically doesn't make sense to me. Incredible. If you keep going for 5 more years, though it pains the Stoltman fan in me, you might be the greatest of all time. So much respect.
Thank you brother 🙏
Nice to see that fans from other strongmen can put aside competitive differences and acknowledge the current champ. Something thor's game of thrones fanboys still seem incapable of doing, sadly.
@@hannibalb8276 that's pretty much it. people who don't really watch or care about strongman, but just enjoy talking trash on youtube.
@@hannibalb8276 As a Thor fanboy (honestly I'm a fanboy of most of the strongmen, Eddie, Stoltmans, Mitch, Licis etc.), I obviously acknowledge that Mitch is currently winning all of the competitions and he's amazing. However, I stand by the fact that Thor is stronger. I think he's the strongest human to have lived so far. SMOE is a decent example, where Thor would've won if it was only him and Hooper. Mitch is phenomenal in his mental game, his strategy, his technical understanding, how to use leverage, how to transfer power, how to get the most out of the rules and so on, and as such he's #1 at nearly every comp. I'm not trying to take anything away from Hooper, he has been winning fair and square. But I, and probably most of the Thor fanboys, still think Thor is the strongest. It's not an opinion I'm married to, I'd fucking love it if Thor gains his overhead power back and generally gets a bit more time to do pure strength training for SMOE 2025 or so, and Hooper can match him/they're both kinda in the same range. Hell if Tom can also really focus up and be a threat for 1st at any comp, ain't nuffin better.
A dream scenario would be Thor, Hooper, Tom, Licis and Trey winning every other comp each, where there's nobody really dominating for 1-2 years, then one of them starts dominating for a while. I think the sport is in shock after Hooper. He came out of nowhere, 8th as WSM, people figured he got a bit lucky. Then he starts winning shows and then won WSM in 1-2 years or whatever. And now he's dominating. He's miles ahead of anyone except Tom and Thor who has to dig deep to potentially beat him. The top ~3-4 guys are so dominant that it's not enough anymore to win 3-4-5 events and win a show. You can't have a weakness, you'll lose too many points. It's better to place 3rd in every event, then win 3-4 event but come 9th in 1-2 events. I think a lot of strongmen have optimized their bodies and their training to do giga deadlifts, giga squats, intense "cardio" for 30 seconds and the stereotypical strongmen lifts or the typical bro lifts in the gym. That has to change now, that is very clear after Hooper's domination.
I think Licis and Hooper are very similar in many ways. They're not the biggest, they don't do world record deadlifts, squats, bro gym lifts. But they know how to peak for comps, and they're masters at technique, leverage, understanding of the human body. Would be great if Licis can get his injuries sorted and get back to compete against Hooper. That would be interesting.
Anyway, sorry for the bible rant. Point was that a lot of the Thor fans just think Thor is stronger overall as a human. I think by this time next year we should be able to say for sure who's the better strongman. If that turns out to be Hooper, I'm happy for him and I'll accept it, and I think most Thor fans will too.
@@vebjsandThor doesn’t have many excuses tho, he weighs 100lbs more than Mitch and is in his prime strength years(mid thirties). U can say that he’s making a comeback or that he’s stronger cuz of past lifts, but the. fact is Mitch whoops his ass in competition 😂😂

Well said brother. Congratulations on the smoe win . Love you
In 2022 I was locked down for 2 months during COVID in Shanghai. I was attached to my couch, worst shape of my life, depressed. The lockdown finally lifted and a close family member suffered a massive heart attack. Since cardiac issues run in my family and I just had a newborn daughter, I knew something had to change if I wanted to be around when she grew up, but I didn't know where to start.
Your deadlift videos really taught me a lot and I ended up buying your powerlifting program, taking my deadlift from 160 to 200kg throughout the three months. Today I'm going to the gym to attempt a PR of 230kg. I wouldn't be here without your dedication to helping people and the awesome positivity you promote. Thanks from me and my grown-up kids of the future! (well, unless I put myself in a wheelchair today!)
Never batted an eye during the plandemic and the facist orders from above to "STAY INSIDE!". My education and my wisdom told me what a crock of crap it all was, and I was walking the streets with my kids, visiting the parks feeding the deer and the ducks, exploring the countryside etc - all the while going into work and ignoring the madness that was unfolding all around.
I fought tooth and nail, toe to toe, with anyone (even older people, and friends) who tried to bleat that government drum and argue for the self-inflicted prisons they'd put themselves into. They ain't doing it to ME, and they certainly ain't doing it TO MY KIDS! Hell no.
NOBODY messes with the kids.
Next plandemic don't make those mistakes! XD
Amazing. You will only keep growing from here, your attitude and mindset are contagious. LHBK
Surely, doing the grand slam in a year is the ultimate goal?
It would be, but taking 1st at any of the major competitions basically guarantees you won't be 100% for the rest of the year. All 4 in one year may not be possible while the field is this robust.

Mitch you are the best! I’m not going anywhere either. Love being along for the ride.
Moooose! I’m 37 years old. 4 kids! Worst shape I’ve ever been in on the heels of a sports related back injury 8 years ago. I have come to understand that no one will save me as I fight to get out of bed and move around. I STILL can’t get out of my depression and overwhelming exhaustion but I’ve been binging all your videos over the past few weeks and I think I found you at the exact time of my life that I needed. Following your story has served as kindling and materials for the fire that I’m just around the corner from sparking up! I’ve got 4 and 5 days splits all programmed. The garage is a work in progress. I have 100 dumbbells and a crap ton of body weight to supplement. Times are about to change!
Practice being grateful. I've been alone my entire life and have no family. Family is the greatest blessing. You need more relaxing time and gratefulness to get your energy levels up. It's great you've set a new goal for yourself.
Just start small improvements every day and then one day you look around at all the fully sprouted trees from the seeds you planted
I believe in you
37 is a bit young to hit that level of decrepitude but drop the NASIDS and do what you can to help yourself. Like the other guy said, no use complaining about it. You played the sports - its a gamble. Sports is for teenagers or 20 somethings, OR for professionals where the gamble pays off no matter what.
I was a pretty good skateboarder in my mid teens but I tried to come back to it when I was 26 out of boredom and within 3 weeks I was sitting in A&E with a broken ankle and it still hurts to this day! Fk'd around and found out.
Get your bloods tested. May have low testosterone causing the depression

This is exactly what I was hoping to hear. Keep thinking bigger my friend-you have the unique potential to impact so many! I was fortunate enough to be at SMOE live, get a pic with you, get a hat signature and got to meet your sister and step dad (and then sat a few rows behind them!). Was wearing my new LHBK bucket hat when I saw this video!
Everything you said was exactly what I was hoping you’d say. What I mean by that is, growing up in Illinois watching Michael Jordan win all the time during the 90’s, you never really think that even after winning 6 championships that people would come out and say that he wasn’t the best to ever do it. However, had he won more which he was capable of accomplishing at the time, really would have left no doubt. In Jordan’s quest, his only motivation was to get one more championship over Magic Johnson and that was it. He never thought to win more than the all time champion Bill Russell to solidify his greatness in history. I think just looking back at that comparison, just on the competition standpoint, you’re young enough and are in a great position to put yourself on a level where when people compare you to the past, there would be no doubt that you’re the best to ever do it. Mix more wins and more world records, health permitting, leave no doubt. I guess as a fan of you, I do wish that when all is said and done, I’d hope that you hang it up like Brian did. Leave while you can still compete, with no major injuries like Ronnie Coleman. I know I ranted a lot, but since you're looking for more motivation, I hope this helps a bit. Always rooting for you Moose. Thank you for contributions to the strong man community!
Thank you for such a kind comment. I hope I can continue to inspire others, regardless if I win or lose ❤️
