That sucks. From personal experience, I used to have wood floors, but after a flood, they swelled up and warped the floor. I love wood floors, but practically, I suggest tile.

Sigh!! Why do people continue to do stupid stuff like this??? Constantly???? It takes less than 5 minutes to search for flooring contractors in HOUSTON!!! If it’s a $10 job who cares?? You start climbing into the thousands of dollars 💵 wake up!! There’s a Better Business Bureau, I would NOT trust Angie’s List. I picked someone on her list to do some yard drainage. The price was Ok. They didn’t pass city inspection TWICE! When I wrote a bad review, Angie and company ARGUED WITH ME!! You have to remember these Angie type services get PAID by the contractor!!! Do your own leg work.

BBB gets paid by contractors as well.
They call the contractor and sell a yearly subscription to be rated by them.

This is terrible, I have learned my lesson not to trust company reviews online. Instead do my own research and challenge the contractor upfront before signing anything… including a Warranty and make sure everything is written in the initial contract, payment term (10% upfront and the rest when job is done), I buy my own material, and watch over the work .. that’s where they usually get you when you are not watching 😊

Wherever you see this contractor advertised or mentioned, please put comments to warn others about him so he can learn that people will fight back! 😡 I hope this lady finds a good lawyer and sue this contractor for all the damages and for new floors!

Where is this information that states contractors are required to put down a vapor retarder under flooring on a concrete slab?

So that no one else deals with him.

The moisture barrier is not the problem she probably had another problem and isn’t saying anything. That damage does not happen because a thin layer of plastic goes under neath from what I can see more water was probably leaked onto the floor again.hence the original floor did not have a moisture barrier ( because if the reading isn’t high enough it doesn’t need it) I bet she had another flood.

Doubtful. You can tell if the floor boards are water damaged.

lol. Did you agree to a warranty? Or did you take the cheapest bid. If he didn’t explicitly state on a contract there’s a warranty, you got the floors as is where it is.

Moisure barriers were not used for decades with no issue. She has something else going on. The MFG was just needing something to blame.
