29th August 2017, I walked up from Lightning Creek to the lookout, driven by Kerouac's Desolation Angels. Part of my soul travelled with Kerouac and Snyder. The lookout was nice, gave me cold water and bright conversation and some tuna and ramen to take back down to my camp on Ross Lake. I think he was you, Jim. Thanks for being open and taking that picture with my beer belly in front of smoky Hozomeen.

Two summers ago, our daughter, grandson, and myself took a boat from Ross Lake resort to the Desolation trailhead and started up the trail. We got about 4 miles up the trail, but our energy ran out so we never made it up to the lookout. Too bad because I really enjoyed Jack Kerouac's Dharma Bums book.
