      I know thats sorta the history of all sports, but Im not so sure about Steph. He's so far and away the goat shooter and that he's the best at every type of shooting by a mile.... Its not like guys can get stronger or faster to improve their shooting. He'll be topped on how many 3's he makes but I dont think we'll ever see someone hit over five 3's/game at a 45% clip for a season where half of em are off the dribble. Maybe a shooter getting a ton of great assists from his PG will hit over five 3's at 45%, but it'll all be easy catch-and-shoot. Steph might truly be a one-off

    #3 He has taken advantage of the opportunity that Steve Kerr opened to him, his great shooting father allowed him, and his brother all supporting his earliest struggles

Let me replay Maravich: had he been 'unleashed' AND had he had 3 pointers (rather than trying to draw fouls which he did well as he was double-teamed in college) he may have been the go-to Curry-like guy. Maravich's father was also a record-breaking shooter, being a master of the jump shot and not going for the stall and defense kind of game popular in the Fourties and Fifties. Just to prove that I have too much time on my hands, what do you think Wilt might have done with the 3-pointer!

    • @gqdaddy8544
      @gqdaddy8544 5 лет назад

      Wilt with a 3pt shot? Hmmm it fundamentally changes Wilt's game and stats... I remember watching a documentary on big men in that it's hard for them to shoot FT's because they are just TOO strong. You get them back further from the hoop and it's easier to shoot - so he definitely would have the strength to toss up alot of 3s per night. Let's say the NBA adopts the 3pt shot in 1960 just for fun. (Sorry ABA of 1976) - It's possible we see an early end to the low-post game as we know it as bigs move out to the 3pt line to guard tall shooters which brings out defenders from beneath the hoop and opens up more scoring. It would be Dirk before Dirk but with a twist. Wilt setting up for 3s means who is rebounding? Maybe he isn't getting +20 RPG anymore and instead is settling for deep bombs... and making them.

      @@broncosstampede494 As a european who played soccer I just cant comprehend "Stephen Curry Along With Draymond Green And Klay Thompson All Flew K.D Out To The Hamptons..To Recruit Him.. If Curry Really Thinks Hes The Best Player On The Warriors..Why Would He Sell Himself And The Team To Get Kevin Durant" something like that. Not because you use (imo)dumb dot spam but because making your own team stronger by recruiting a strong player would never be considered selling oneself short but just being smart and a teamplayer.
      Reading all those comment from basketball "fans" below yt videos saying Curry or whoever aint good cuz he cant carry his team to a ring on his own. Its just so dumb. There is nothing wrong working to get a good team in a team sport. It even is good in certain ways because that way every player has always to do their best so they wont lose their starting spot and the overall team strenght of all the teams has to improve. Though I have to admit that I dont know whether it would work in bball because you might have a lack of talents to work with cuz its a small sport compared to soccer.
      I do think though if everyone would stop thinking about something like a team has to have 1 and only 1 player who carries the shit outta his team otherwise hes either bad if he cant or bad cuz he needs help, then the overall quality of basketball might raise. Which would be making the sport more entertaining in the long run.
      But I think thats impossible due to many reasons like salary cap, the franchise system which kinda says its no probmel if you lose every game you wont have to suffer from dropping out of the league, nah you even get higher spots in the draft if you fail to manage the team smartly.
      Thats the opinion of an european casual who honestly doesnt know much about the nba rules.

    We'll definitely see someone surpass the 402 threes he made in 2016. It's only about 5 threes a game, and the league is trending towards exceeding that. But we'll never see 30 ppg on 50-45-90 shooting splits ever again. You can force & pad stats for triple doubles, but you can't force efficiency. Especially "volume efficiency". So far in NBA history, only 2 players come to mind in terms of "volume efficiency". Kevin Durant & Larry Bird.
    Larry Bird was truly the first truly dynamic efficient volume scorer in NBA history. 29 ppg 52% FG and 41% 3PT in 1988 was simply incredible.
    Kevin Durant has also had a few 25 ppg+ with 50% FG and 40% 3PT, but he is getting older, and he plays with Curry.

      Who is a basketball great? imo - Players who fundamentally leave a unique stamp on the game in that it changes how the game is played in that era. Steph fits your mold for sure, the league has adopted this take 3s whenever viable approach in the last 5-7 years and will continue to do so - Curry can cement his legacy with another chip but I think he's already influenced the next generation to "Be Like Steph". LeBron to me is a high basketball IQ guy and talented for sure here's the but - I'd definitely put Tim Duncan ahead of him, also a high IQ but game changing shot blocking, rebounding and defense and the way he instilled loyalty from those he played with. Played the game, 5 time champion, no diva moments. Maybe too Dirk as a 5 who changed being a "center" from being a low post position to camping out on the 3 point line as a legitimate 3pt shooting threat big man.

    • @gqdaddy8544
      @gqdaddy8544 5 лет назад

      @BrokeBen #1 - Tremendous upside to Zion - so... maybe. Similar pedigree to LeBron as a High School phenom but in this new NBA he had to get a year of college first -- at Duke - which I think has only helped his game grow. A few years ago people were asking about his shot - as in did he have one? I think he's working on it. 31% 3pt / 65% free throw with Duke. High School he was a 20% 3pt and 61% free throw - pretty impressive going UP a level in play. Everything else defensively in blocking shots and steals looks good and he's a super tough re-bounder. Does any of this translate into elevating his teammates? What kind of stamp can he put on the NBA to make it his own? Only time will tell...

      @@LightUpDaBomb1 if he was all about stats he would shoot 24+ times a game instead of 13-20 shots a game. He'd also go hard for meaningless rebounds over his big men to rack up triple doubles. I don't see how he's padding when every year on the Cavs he could easily have been racking up bigger numbers in the regular season but he didn't expend himself until the postseason because winning was more important to him. Just look at his playoff numbers compared to his regular season numbers.

    I would pick Steph Curry over LeBron, Kobe, and Magic. No ball-dominance. My starting 5 of Steph, MJ, KD, Bird, and Embiid would never lose to any team.

      Your team is weak in rebounding and defense. MJ's rings stopped at 3, it wasn't until Dennis Rodman joined Chicago and led the NBA in rebounding that he got his other 3 rings.

      I don’t get your animosity towards either. Westbrook was and still is just padding his stats. KD wanted rings. He left to a team that can get him some. Golden State NEVER approached Boogie. Boogie called them. Again, Boogie wants a ring. It’s the same reason Nick Young came to GS. Ain’t nobody shit on him, though!? Fact is, some players are chasing rings, not stats. Your stats can speak volume, but without rings...it’s just another 73-9 non-championship run. “72-8 has a nice “ring” to it.” -Jordan, probably.
