Right on! Reminds me of my source to sea on that river from 2013. Started up here on the Haw. 241 miles solo to Carolina beach through snows cut in 6 days. Was stroking 40+ miles a day. That trip was more work than fun yet still one of my all time favs!!! AWESOME campsite! Loved that drone shot leaving camp 😍
Holy smokes…40 miles a day is DEFINETELY some work! I’ve got a “thru-paddle” of the Cape Fear on my bucket list although I don’t think I’ll quite be able to break the sound barrier like you did. I feel like a big time RUclipsr now that I’ve got World Famous River King Pete commenting on my videos!
Great video guys. We just moved to River Road in Wilmington from Pennsylvania we always kayaked the Delaware River. Would you have any idea how long it would take from your starting point and end at River Road park near Shark Tooth Island?
We camped just across from Shark Tooth on Campbell island so I'd say it was probably around 5 hours of paddling...as long as you catch the ebb going out. Very manageable for a day trip. Thanks for watching!
My general rule is not to leave anything in a car that I can't part with and if there IS something in there valuable, I keep it well out of sight. I'd think you're probably ok for a few hours at Archie Blue park but I wouldn't part overnight. We had someone drop us off there so we didn't have to worry about it. Thanks for watching!
Love that Native kayak/canoe hybrid. What an awesome setup. That looks like an awesome adventure. Excellent footage! Incredible campsite on that island. Amazing video, enjoyed all of the video.✌️
Thanks as always! As long as COVID-19 allows, we've got a big trip planned next month that I purchased the kayak for specifically. Love the setup...that thing carries everything.
I thought this was an awesome adventure. I see these Wilmington sights all the time....from a car! Great edit. (like paddling sounds from drone shots) Loved the drone shots. I think I would have had to troll a line behind me. The campsite was epic. P.S. How did you make your animated map feature? I know a way I do it but am curious what you did. Looking forward to Part II
Yeah, it turned into a good little trip. Getting to paddle past the Coast Guard cutter and the battleship was pretty darn cool. As far as map animation, it’s probably not the easiest way but I used After Effects and use the technique this guy talks about (ruclips.net/video/NmtUVK-AALs/видео.html). I’m not smart enough to try to explain it…still an Abobe noob.
We got the boats wet about 9:30am with an hour and a half paddle to the battleship (just a little over 5 miles). Smith Creek was on its way down so I had to scootch a little in a few places but it wasn't bad. It'd be a great little trip to take up a morning...the kayak docks at the battleship were a pleasant surprise. Thanks for watching!
Great video Thanks for posting. I needed this for final leg of trip. Have NE Cape Fear mapped from Beaulaville to Castle Haynes.
Right on, sounds like an awesome trip! Thanks for watching!
Beautiful!
Thanks for watching!

Awesome video!
Thanks for watching!
Great video thank you for sharing. Hope all is well
All good, thanks for watching!
Fun!
It was a great little overnight trip...little bits of nature nestled in among civilization. Thanks for watching!
That island looks like the perfect spot to hole up during the quarantine. Awesome trip!
It's a pretty sweet spot...thanks for watching!

Did you leave a car at Archie Blue park?? Is it safe to leave one there for 4-5 hours?? I checked it out & it was deserted & not very attractive.

I live in castle hayne I’ve done almost this exact same paddle just with a different starting point. It’s beautiful and you have documented it well.
Such a great stretch to paddle...and so close to civilization. Thanks for watching!

@@SideTrailAdventures 10-4 on the Adobe After Effects. I have refused to learn it and I'm sticking to my guns, lol.
In relation to the tides, when did you put in? Also how far was the put-in to the battleship? I'm interested in doing that portion of the trip.

Where did you launch?
I talk about it towards the beginning of the video but it's Archie Blue park on Smith Creek. Thanks for watching!
