Cars don't get much uglier than that. Probably ruined the entire car industry in England and America by letting the Japanese a easy way in. Oh the Humanity.
You absolutely know nothing about cars ..or the ford cortina. Look it up before writing something derogatory about a car you obviously have zero knowledge about.
And you think your trabant is the height of style, eh?...😂
Well. The Cortina was a basic, mundane piece of transport. By Ford. It was made to be efficient, economical, cost-effective. Ford used an aviation derived computer program to use the steel as efficiently as possible. It made it cheap to make, cheap to run. But also, boring. It was styled in the way of the day, fins were going out, so it got little ones. Planes were cool, so it got jet plane tailpipe inspired lights. Ford knew it needed to make it desirable. Mr Chapman was invited to make it so, and he discovered the cheap, light car responded to his treatment of make it lighter, and faster. It also made it fragile. But whatever else it did, Lotus made it cool. And that’s historical fact. Oh and yes; it won a lot of races in 1964. That’s fact too. In my opinion, it looks purposeful, yet plain. I bought one, so maybe it’s just me. It certainly turns heads wherever I drive it.
