    Yes, the interior is very outdated, but the exterior looks, the grunt and drivability of the QX70 from everything I've watched and read, I can't wait to be sitting behind the wheel of one.

    As someone else has commented, I liked the sequence at time 30:30 on the autobahn on-ramp, where the Golf GTD (or was it a standard Golf 105ps diesel!) perhaps thinks you want a race, tries to get past you, then chases you, crosses the solid white line to get straight to the overtaking lane, hammers past you at a speed exceeding the 100 kph limit, then quickly swings back across the traffic and jams himself in to get to an Ausfahrt...! Good stuff. And you never exceeded the speed limit! Yes, that Q70 3.7 had as you say, "...a really impressive sound". And an impressive consumption! Great review Thomas, many thanks.

    Thank you a lot for reviewing the 3.7. The engine sound is great. But there is just one slight mistake in the review. The air outtakes are not fake. This is what Infiniti says: "The air vents behind the front wheels give the QX70 an even bolder exterior while reducing front-end lift so you can feel closer to the road."
    Greetings from a still completly happy owner of a QX70 3.0d S.

      Now it is dark outside and I just took a small torch and shone into the lowest part of the vents. Through the upper vents I could see the light beam inside the mud guard. You cannot see it from the wheel side. Only if you look into the vents at a certain angle.

    • @philhenderson3516
      @philhenderson3516 2 месяца назад

      @@autogefuehl I know this comment is 7 years late but back in 2008 when this 2nd generation FX debuted, Shiro Nakamura (the designer) got asked about the purpose of the air vents and he said they were added to release air & pressure from the engine compartment. They do not connect directly with the wheel well but rather the lower portion of the engine compartment. So my understanding is that they are indeed functional. They seem to be similar in function to those found in the Lexus RCF & GSF that came several years after it.

    A bit of constructive criticism, though. You have a very pleasant voice (despite the German accent ;)) but at times I have a really hard time hearing what you say. Probably the best looking sporty-styled SUV ( against the likes of BMW X6, Mercedes Benz GLC -- 2014 Audi TT Offroad Concept looks like a direct body style copy ).
    I can forgive Infinity with the Infotainment button-fest scheme since it's been around 2009, so it really is old. Purple(!) stitching with the chairs to match purple highlights with speedo/tach lighting.. but still ok cabin environment. A good yes feature to RCA connectors(!) at 10:13 - maybe plug an external portable amplifier in there.
    Very good racy sound with the engine. Another thanks for a top well detailed review there Thomas!

    I much agree with you Thomas that it's not good if an ACC system does not bring the car to a halt (time 36:18)! And the QX70's system (not you!) allowed the car to get too close to the truck anyway... Also, interestingly, at 37:56 you said, "...and now a car is standing there," and you then applied the adaptive cruise... but most ACC systems do not lock onto stationary objects (specifically on purpose, I think) (Stationary 0bjects I think are left to the AEB system?). Excellent, detailed Review Thomas, as always. Many thanks.

    • @dontcare32123
      @dontcare32123 6 лет назад +3

      You have to remember this system dates back to 2009 and most ACC systems designed back then will only apply a percentage of the braking power when following a car, which is either suddenly braking to a complete stop, such as in an emergency braking situation or when leaving the autobahn where the speed of the car ahead and thus the gap maintained by the ACC can drop very suddenly. The driver knows he is leaving the autobahn and can make the necessary adjustments in throttle and braking but the ACC does not know this.
      The bleeping you hear is the Forward Collision Warning alerting you to the closing speed with the vehicle ahead, which requires you to apply the brakes beyond what the car is already applying in order to avoid a collision.
      I have a 2013 FX and the ACC is a full speed system and it will bring the car to a complete stop if following a car, which is reducing its speed at a normal rate plus it will also then follow the car in front at low speeds, such as crawling traffic on the motorway. It works very well and remember this system is standard on a number of trim levels and wasn't a £1,000.00 option.
      My CL63 with Distronic Plus works exactly the same and will not identify a stationary car ahead like the latest systems but like the FX, if it's following a car, which brakes at a normal rate for whatever reason, such as slowing traffic, the CL will match the normal braking rate of the car ahead even if it brakes to a complete stop. What it won't do is apply full braking in an emergency situation, such as the car ahead suddenly braking very hard but it will prompt you to apply the brakes and assist just like the FX.
      Forward Collision Alert works above 10 mph and will bleep to alert you of a potential collision and at the same time start to apply a certain amount of braking to reduce the potential impact speed but the driver is meant to use his judgement and apply braking at this point.
      Remember these are 2009 technologies, which work really well but it's not fair to compare them to the near autonomous systems of cars launched 8 or 9 years later.

    Of course, 17l/100km are pretty much, but I think, if you for example drove a passat equipped with the 2.0 TSI (280hp) aggressively in the city/ on the motorway, the car would consume nearly as much - if not even as much - fuel than the QX 70. On top, it would emitt more damaging particles than the QX 70.

    Looks great easily beats the Mercedes in its design but not BMW and Audi..... the car would far better in darker colour as white doesn't do it any favours, keep up the great work all you nice people @Autogefuhl.....

    Great review. I own a 2012 FX30ds. It's a nice car, enjoying it a lot. I agree interior need more polishing, faster map scrolling, illuminated air vents (it sucks when it's dark outside and I can't tell the vents position), the steering wheel needs an updated look and also some controls needs more premium buttons (AC for instance). Also, it badly needs integrated Apple Carplay and Android Auto options included. But overall, it's a great car and I am really looking forward for your 2018 QX70 review (the new generation) :) Good job again Thomas!

    I don't like the car, because I don't see the point in having an SUV....but I really like the combined touchscreen + a lot of shortcut buttons! I hate it when other german car reviews always want as few buttons as possible to have a "tidy deshboard". It takes so much time and distraction to use the infotainment system in a lot of cars these days, because you either get no buttons(only touchsreen) or no touchscreen and only these "joysticks"+"back" and "enter"......and no I don't want to talk to my car ;).

    I personally think the exterior design of this suv is still fantastic. How I wish infinity would revive this vehicle with a modern interior. Their latest QX55 is not it

    Die Abgase sind dank Saugrohreinspritzung viel sauberer als bei der Konkurrenz. Lieber ein etwas höherer Verbrauch, wenn dafür die Abgase sauberer sind.

    This vehicle is aimed at America, where they are proud of the size of their engine and love burning fuel like they are flying a 747.

    Nooo, that's not my type ;) this car's design is definitely specific, but too 'baroque-style' both outside and inside.
    QX30 looks awesome and this one, well, old-styled and exaggerated.

    How can it be that u have to pay 65000 euros for this car??? I mean for that money i could buy and fully loaded Audi A4 or even an S4....

    Another detailed and exhaustive video by my favourite reviewer. Unfortunately the vehicle looks like it was designed by a committee with none of the members of the committee communicating. It's ironic that the reg. number more or less summed up the vehicle, K I P. There are many colloquial interpretations of KIP but in this case I think ( ein Loch ) fits best!
