  • India Vs Australia 5th T20 | Ind vs Aus Scores and Commentary | Ind vs Aus
Hello from Vizag for yet another India vs Australia. Rinku Singh was seen visualizing on the centre pitch so signs that he's playing. Jitesh busy with keeping drills and Washington Sundar is bowling on one the side pitches. Prasidh Mukesh Arshdeep marking their runups' Barely days after the two teams met in the 2023 50-over World Cup final they're back squaring off each other in a 5-match T20I series starting in Visakhapatnam.
While the ODI World Cup just concluded the T20I World Cup ain't too far away and both teams would be looking forward to building up to that tournament in the West Indies. The packed international calendar has meant both teams are not at their full strength. India has reposed faith in the squad which won the Gold medal at the recent Hangzhou Asian Games.
Suryakumar Yadav - We will bowl first. The wicket looks good dew should come later and should make the pitch better. It's a little difficult but there's always light at the end of the tunnel. Lots of positives and looking forward to the series. The guys have played a lot of franchise and domestic cricket just told them to express and enjoy themselves. Washington Shivam and Avesh are sitting out.
Matthew Wade - We would have bowled first as well looks a bit tacky and dew could come later. Always an opportunity for young players to play in India just around 10-12 matches for the next WC and we're looking forward to it. Some WC guys are resting - Maxwell Zampa and Head are not playing tonight.
Australia have put up a mammoth total of 208/3 in their first over after India captain Suryakumar Yadav won the toss and decided to bowl first in the series opener at Visakhapatnam. Steven Smith opened the innings for the first time in his international career and got off to a good start with Matt Short (13 off 11).
Smith then stitched a huge 130 run partnership for the 2nd wicket with Josh Inglis as the pair hammered the Indian bowlers all over the park. Inglis went on to score his first international century finishing with 110 in 50 deliveries. His knock comprised of 11 fours and 8 sixes. Steven Smith was dropped early in his innings as Bishnoi failed to grab a return chance allowing the opening batter to score 52 in 41 balls.
The innings included 8 fours and finished in the 16th over when he was unfortunately run out after losing his balance while attempting a quirky stroke. Prasidh Krishna got the prized wicket of Inglis in the 18th over. The fourth wicket pair of Tim David (19* off 13) and Marcus Stoinis (7* off 6) took Australia past 200. Prasidh (1/50) and Bishnoi (1/54) were the only wicket takers but had a horrible day in the field.
Harakiri moment to end the innings! David makes a couple of moves here and there around the crease but Mukesh has his aim as he bowls a low full toss attacking the body of the batter. David fails to get any bat on his attempted innovative reverse scoop getting hit on his pads. The ball rolls back at the bowler with David hovering around in the middle of the pitch. Mukesh misses the shy at the bowler's end and David gets home.
Dot ball to finish as Mukesh produces an excellent over under pressure going for only 5 runs in the last over! Australia post 208/3! This can be a big moment in the final over! Mukesh needs to stick to his plans on the free hit that is coming up. Mukesh is confident about that shout and urges the skipper Suryakumar Yadav to refer it. Its a fair delivery. Ball appears to be hitting the front shoe but outside the line of leg stump.
It is clear that no bat is involved so ultra edge is not checked.
