I had a question what do I press to select multiple feathers to highlight to move a group around? When I was trying it, it would just select random feathers and not all of the feathers in a subtool.
good tutorial though i find that alot of the more important stuff youve just breezed though and now I'm stuck only knowing how to draw feathers but not how to edit them or how you separated them or even what to google to find the out the stuff i don't know
Look into masking functionality or using multiple sub tools. It will be one or the other. I can’t tell without an image but I’m going to guess you need to unmask them.
hi Follygon , thank you for sharing this awesome method, I have one question if I may.. what did you do to control each feather after you made the brush and started inserting them .. how did you turned them to different colors and controlled each one?
Wouldn't it be better if instead of a creating a brush from a single feather you made from several at once? That way, you could save up much more time instead of doing every single feather by itself.
halafradrimx You can, but with creating each feather individually it's always going to look more organic. If you are looking for a more easy route, you might as well use nanomesh and then adjust feathers after. I prefer having absolute control over how I want the feathers to look, thus this method. There are a million ways to do any one thing in ZBrush, it's always just a matter of finding what works for you.
As a ZBrush n00b, I can say this is an excellent tutorial. You explain without assuming that everyone knows everything already.
I love this character and feel happier for having seen it.
I've been trying to model a harpy and you have no idea how much time and effort you just saved me
Oh my god so satisfying, reminded me why I'm working my tail feathers off for that sweet $800 for zbrush
Who actually pays?
great tutorial, how do you select the feather separetly?
thankyou for bro this helps me alot for creating a ostrich
3:54 how did you make other object disappear leaves only the feathers left?
That's Ctrl + Shift + the object.
Thanks for the instructions. Going to make a feather brush using your Technic. I want to make some birds.
Awesome tutorial, thanks!
thank you very much for the tip
the q sphere button is missing from the newest zbrush under initialize, where can I find it?
You earned a subscriber! Awesome stuff!
Happy to help :)
Thanks sunlight 🌞

How did you get a red and navy colored UI for ZBrush? I thought it was always orange and slate.
4:30 dumb question but what's "TLC"?
it stands for "tender loving care" - essentially, this needs more attention
This was very helpful. Thank you so much.
Glad to help! :)
Thank you☺👍
How do I select the other feathers. After I make a new feather I can’t effect the other ones

Masking. There are many methods to do this. I ctrl clicked with my transpose tool selected in this video.
Very usefull thanksss!
Hey do these brushes retain UV's? Had Zbrush for over a year and never thought try this out. Cool character btw
Yes, they do!
