Your home is beautiful and it was so refreshing to go for a house tour and see the house being truly lived in, not staged. I'm totally envious of your detached garage and the compact yards, also the brick pavement going around to the back of your house gave me a wonderful idea for my parking area and maybe a patio. (no garage detached or otherwise here) Price range is comparable to here in the states. Loved how your kitchen is laid out, very easy to work in. Please tell your partner no worries about the housekeeping, she has done an amazing job keeping everything lovely and tidy especially with a 3mo. old and a grown man to take care of LOL.

Depending on the square footage and the acreage of the property, a 3 bedroom 2 bath at $240k is the going rate here in the US of A. Based off of your house Adam I'd say that you have a beautiful home

Like the saying goes, "location, location, location". I've lived in 5 different regions across the US and theres no way to truly make an equal comparison in different areas. We had a house in Ohio that was 5 bed/3 bath with two 2 car garages on 2 acres and when we sold in 2010 it was $187K. Now we live in southern California and that same house would be $3-5 Million here. We currently live in a single level 1400 square foot 3 bed/2 bath with a 2 car attached garage on a very small lot and its appraised at $891K right now. We are planning on retiring in South East Arizona so we bought 46 acres there and are building a 1900 square foot 3 bed/2 bath home and a 2400 square foot workshop as we speak. If prices dont go crazy in the near future, we will be all in for about $330K.

You have a lovely home! Thank you for showing us. To the lady of the home, please rest assured that it looked plenty tidy!
As for price comparison, it will of course vary widely by region. For a similar set up (semi detached condominium) in north Texas, the price would be close, though you have a better individual back yard than they would have. There would be a common green space in many cases. For a detached home, I think in the cities and suburbs here it would be a bit more money, depending on square footage. Where I live is more rural and prices are lower. For $240k you could have a similar sized home on an acre or two.
I've heard that in New York City, you would be lucky to get an apartment space the size of your kitchen, or less, (in total) for the price your home cost, but I don't know for sure.
    Thanks again for the tour.
I greatly enjoy your content. Blessings to you and your family.

It does really depend on which state and which county you live in. I live in NY state. In the cities it would be stupid expensive for a detached house but I am upstate near Niagara Falls in a village. We bought a 3,000 square foot detached house (footage Does not include the size of the attic, which is the width and breadth of the house, the basement which is also the width and breadth of the house and the detached garage which is 1,500 square feet with an upstairs that we are converting into a bar) We have a fairly large back yard with a 24ft above ground pool and a decent size front lawn, The house was purchased by the last owners for $95,000 completely renovated and sold to us for $175,000 The house was built in 1899 so is Victorian style. The mother in law could not understand why we would purchase such an old home..... Until she saw it, she declared that it was like a model home. We have in floor heating in the upstairs bathroom a wood fireplace in the living room built in electric fireplace in the "Theater room" steam radiators throughout. With no ductwork in the house we use window air conditioners but I really don't mind. There are 4 bedrooms and a nursery, a parlor and dining room. and a large kitchen that used to have a butler pantry but the wall was removed to make the kitchen bigger. We are very lucky!! I could send you a link to pics if you want :-) You have a very nice house Adam. I am from the UK and we lived in a fairly nice row house which was pretty basic when we were there. I would have loved to have a house like yours. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for show and tell! You could get a condo that size, for that price in a major city. But, you could also get a 3 bedroom farm house, with 12ft vaulted ceilings, 10 acres, and a barn where I live outside a town of 1600 in the country, in Texas for that price as well.

I don’t believe there is a condo anywhere in my city for $240k. Not even a studio, actually. A detached 3-bedroom needing work would be $350k, minimum, and that’s 15 miles from downtown. The cost of housing is very dependent on region, clearly, as are income levels.

It was $190k. It has since been sold and is now a holiday let. Our house here in the US (WAY upstate NY-240 miles from NYC). We have a bigger yard than yours. We have an open fireplace. Your kitchen is so nice and much bigger. We only have one bathroom. Right now, our house is worth about $250k. I'm used to small spaces. I bought a 1964 built house before covid. Its about 1200 sq. ft on 1/3 acre within walking distance to everything you need. I paid $135,000. I've put quite a bit of remodeling into it, nothing drastic like moving walls. It needed a new HVAC, new windows, new flooring. During covid prices nearly doubled and continued to rise. They have settled back some. My house would sell for about $350,000 now. Its 2 bedrooms, one bath, attached carport, storage shed in the yard, which is large and fenced for the dogs.

I'm an old grandma and after years of raising my kids and husband (😁). Living in a big house with big payments. I finally bought myself 2 acres of land with a little house about your home square footage. $76,000.00. zero interest. Around $600.00 a month payment. In the country. But near the city all the new subdivision they are throwing up everywhere are starting around $350 thousand dollars and up. It's crazy. They cut all the trees down. Plow the whole area to dirt. Slap 50 houses in there. Put one tiny tree if you're lucky and cheap grass like grows on the side of the highway. It's sad. I love my quiet home in the country where I can garden and sit under beautiful shady oak trees with my cats and dog. Peaceful. No neighbors 10 feet from me. And all the freedom America has to offer.
God bless y'all from the Great State of Texas 🇺🇸

First off Adam, congratulations on your first child. You have a very nice home. In the United States, we run the gambit for types and prices for homes. We have poor folks and rich to wealthy people. We are a large country so it really depends on where you live. In the Midwest where I live. Rural areas are generally less expensive. I live in a suburb surrounding Minneapolis/Saint Paul or as called the twin cities. It’s considered the 7 county region. My location is Blaine in Anoka county. A north of the twin cities. Let’s say a 20-30 minute drive. I have a home described as a townhome. Which is attached to a cluster of 4. Two common walls. Today’s price it’s valued around 230k-270k. Since the pandemic prices have increased considerably. The home was built in 2003. Originally priced about 150k. Its a 2 bedroom 1.5 bath, two story. Attached 2 car garage. Very similar in type as your home. Totally love your content and perspective. Every region North, South, East and West. 48 contiguous states is a very large land mass. Diversity describes its citizens, along with the industry and culture particular people often in a region. I will share photos of my modest home if you’d like. Later Adam

For having a 3 month old your house is not messy at all. I love your house, only thing I would change is the amount of doors. You Brits love your doors 😅
As for what $240,000 would get you in the states it kind of depends on the area. In my city $249,900 will get you a traditional 1 bed 1 bath apartment with 615 square feet. Shared laundry. There are about 20 apartments per building so you better like people. No pets. $232 monthly HOA fees & $250 a month for taxes.
Damn…that make me depressed. The American dream of owning a house is slowly becoming more and more out of reach for so many.

  • @thejennwoo1

Your home is lovely! The bedrooms are smaller than I expected, but in AZ (maybe elsewhere in the US, too), older builds have smaller bedrooms, too. Newer construction tends to have larger bedrooms and bathrooms. I grew up in a 2400 sq. ft. home, and I would LOVE to have a house like yours.
Your home has a lot more character and charm than 90% of the modern homes in the US.
But depending on which town/city you look at, you can get a comparable semi-detached townhouse or a semi- or fully-detached condo here (similar as far as bedrooms, & bathrooms - backyard is a variable), or in some states, a fully detached home that is much larger than yours. And the parking will be better unless you buy in a downtown/super urban area. And it'll probably have a garbage disposal so you can just f... off with the bananas down the sink to your heart's content.😊

You can get the same home you showed for $240,000 here in the U.S., but it will just be bigger. You could find a home with similar trim and options to yours, but it would be larger in scale for both home and yard size.
So, in terms of how nice your house is, that's pretty standard fare here. It would just be basically the house you have there in the UK, but on a larger scale and very possibly a 50/50 chance of having a basement, depending on location and available options in the neighborhood you're looking at.
So TLDR $240,000 grand in the States will buy what you have in the UK, but just bigger.
My house in Wisconsin is $320,000, and it's at least twice as big as your home. And in terms of land area probably at least 6x larger than what you have. And the garage we have is twice as large.
But trim level-wise and amenities, it's pretty similar to what you have. Only a bit more with walk-in closets and a proper laundry room.
So you have a nice home there in the UK. 😊

Congratulations on the new little one.
I really liked your house. It looks very pretty, well built and easy to care for.
So many of the houses I have seen people do a tour of are homes that are not what everyone could afford. The prices for homes here are very dependent on the area and state.
Our house is a one story, 40ft x 24ft, 3 bedroom, one bath house with a full basement. The lot is 70 ft x 123 ft. We've added AC, replaced all windows & doors and had a 2 1/2 car garage built in the back. The price was 40K in 1980, but now is might sell for 110k. Its in good shape and is big enough for the two of us. I always wanted a 2 story house.

It depends on where the home is located. Where I live, it would cost under $100 -120k, but elsewhere, it would cost a lot more. It's all relative to the area and market you're buying in.

Depends on square footage, type of home and the most important the state, city and region within that city. Alabama home with the same amount of bedrooms isn’t going to be the prices the same as Seattle, Seattle being much more expensive. But still remaining in the south, let’s take a beautiful city in Georgia, like Atlanta, depending on the type of home and how many bedrooms (whether it’s been renovated) will be priced almost the same as a home in Seattle. A 3-4 bedroom home in Seattle is anywhere between $850-1.7. That’s an average so don’t quote me. So it totally differs depending on things many things there’s no “American home price range.” Where I live this price is unheard of. You couldn’t get a town home like this for that price. It would be more like 400 plus. You wouldn’t even get a condo for that price to be honest. Your home is beautiful 🤩

I like your house! Just recently met a chihuahua and she shook a lot, but she still charmed me, so I'm a fan. Housing prices have gone up a lot in the last few years where I live. (Texas) It is hard to find anything for less than $300,000 US now. But, you'd have more land between the house and the street and bigger bathrooms. I don't know if a bigger house is always better. It's tempting but you just find ways to fill it full of stuff and then you have more to clean. Congrats on the baby. I bet she loves the yard when she gets a little bigger.

I 100% agree with you about building furniture from flat pack, it's a bitch. The last thing I built was my TV stand and I was short 10 screws and had no directions -- I had to contact the manufacturer and when they sent me an email with the directions there were no words, everything was in pictures, and not good ones at that. Then, the holes where you were supposed to put screws to attach the rails for the drawers were too big, the screws passed right through them, and I had to buy wood putty so the screws could secure. It took three-four days to build because of the missing directions, then realizing I was short on screws, and then another day for the wood putty to dry.
    You have a lovely home!

I'm in northern California. We would call your home a town house/ townhome, as it is attached to your neighbor, but 240k in my area would be the cost of a 2 bedroom/ 2 bath house your size. For 3 bedroom, 2-3 bathroom home here starts around 350k depending on which city and neighborhood you live in. I leave between Sacramento and San Francisco. Living between 2 major cities, our home prices are high and climbing. Your home would cost in the higher 300k- lower 400k in this area.

You have a great house! ❤ It's really dope. I appreciate your Realness too.
Here in South Texas you may be able to find a bit more house for your $, BUT prices have shot up and are just now starting to fall. We tend to have large front & backyards down here. Most homeowners can park at least 2 large cars or trucks in their driveways. Its just me and my spouse, and we're in a 1 bd/1bth apartment that's only 800 sq. ft. for about $1000 mo. Nothing fancy, but it's not rundown lol. It's quiet. Mostly medical students, nurses, and military. It comes with full size washer and dryer on the balcony. Every apartment has a balcony or a fenced-in backyard area, 9ft ceilings, Air conditioning (heating and cooling), Refrigerator, Microwave, stove, glass back slash in kitchen, 7ft to built-in food panty in kitchen, walk-in closet, valet trash pick-up, hard wood floors (carpet in bdrm),
The complex: Gated, bbq grills, outdoor activities area, volleyball area, outdoor swimming pool, cabana and out door fireplace, 24 hr gym, 2 dog parks, dog washing "facility" (a station lol) and 1 mile walking trail. Down here they also boast how close you are to a highway - meaning easy access anywhere in the city in minutes. We're given up to 3 parking spaces. We rent an extra garage on site and an extra storage space. 😅 It was just me.
Valet trash is great with these stairs. Lol We sit our trash cans by the front door at night and a company toss the bags for us. They don't come on holidays😢

OK, so yeah, your house is really nice. I love it. It is quite quaint, and functional. I was really happy to see that you have an ensuite as well as a regular bathroom. Too many UK homes have only one bathroom or even just a shower room without a tub. The bedrooms are way smaller than what our average homes have here in the states, but the other rooms are about the same. The yard is again much smaller than what we have, but big for the UK! LOVE your man cave!! I think your stairs are steeper than what we have here, which would find me falling too often. The house was NOT messy, don't apologize. It was nicely lived in for sure. The fridge made me giggle, but again, we Americans do like our refrigerators, don't we? The price is good for the UK, that's for sure, and depending on where you put that house in the States it could go from 150,000-1M so yeah...lots of room for comparison. (Good luck with the bird poop)

In the USA, not only will the prices vary wildly depending on which state/city you live in, the style of houses can be different & the amount of land you would have can vary. In general, 3 bed 2 bath is a pretty standard sized home, though I'd guess that the individual rooms in general will be larger in the USA. Also, the living areas will be much more open plan in the USA. You won't find many American homes where the entrance hallway/foyer is completely sealed off from the adjacent rooms by doors. There may be a trimmed opening from space to space but without a door. That's typically what you find off of the entrance. In other cases, you don't even have an entrance hallway/foyer and you enter directly into the living room.

  • @zarahbelle3627
    @zarahbelle3627 25 дней назад

Honestly, this is pretty standard for the price in my home state of Georgia. It'd basically be a scaled up open plan version of this but essentially the same thing. LOVE THE KITCHEN!!
Edit: Except the nursery. The nursery is a closet, lol.

  • @Ginoulmer
    @Ginoulmer 25 дней назад

In the USA you would generally get more proberty and the house would be bigger because we don't waste home space with walls. All those extra walls that are separating rooms take up living space. If your floor plan was open, it would be much bigger inside. My house in Montana is about 4200 square feet and is appraised around 600k but we also have our own natural spring for water and 20 acres as well as a 4 car garage and a shop with lift and pit for auto repairs. My brothers log home that is near me is on 40 acres and is about 6500 square feet. His appraised over a million. The difference is that we built them ourselves for a 3rd of the appraised amount with no mortgages. We both saved money for 10 years while living in cheap rentals, so they would be paid for when we built them. While our friends were driving new cars and going on vacations while paying big mortgages on their homes, we just worked and saved money. Now we can drive new cars and retire early. I highly recommend approaching getting a new home this way for anyone moving here or a young couple.

It’s hard to tell what would be an equivalent house for the same price. Cost of housing varies greatly depending on what area of the US that you live in. My house in the southern part of the country is 3,200 sq feet on three acres. It is an open style interior with three bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms on three levels with a two car garage. I paid $230,000 for it.

A nice home. House prices vary so much in the States because of location and demand. Currently there is a house shortage in many metropolitan areas causing housing to skyrocket. I have to admit, the bedrooms are a bit smaller than I imagined especially since there are few walk in closets. Your yard is a really nice size (especially for people who dislike cutting grass and trimming shrubs. Your video studio is VERY NICE and may well be the envy of most men watching!
Congratulations on the little one! I imagine you and your partner are great parents!

Great video Adam. It is going to totally depend on where the house is. For some places in the U.S. that's a lot for the price while in other places that would be small for the price. Either way it does look like a nice home. 💚💚💚💚

I sold my house three years ago and got $250,000 for it. It was a 4 bedroom house with kitchen, dining, living and family room. Also has a full basement. this set on .67 acres, oh and had a green house in the back that I built out of old windows. This was in Ohio. If I had this property in California, then I would have expected around $600,000 to possibly a Million dollars. In the U. S. it all depends on where you live, in how much you can get for a place

You have a beautiful home man. It’s clean. Clean is good. Why are chihuahua’s always so mean for no reason?
I live in the US and $240k could certainly get you double the space you have easy. Depending on location of course. The type of home you have we call a duplex apartment (one building split into two living spaces) with detached garage. Not very fun to live in when you have a neighbor that like to bang around all day and night.
I love that you have little sleepy spots for your little one in different rooms. I hope that becomes more common with new families here.
    Thanks for the tour.

your house is actually beautiful. somewhere around USA have this same setup of a house.. now, from the city i'm from, 240k euro = $250k depending on the neighborhood. you can get a 3 bedroom in a descent neighborhood.. of course in smaller towns that will fetch you a more luxurious homes but it's just far from big cities.

It’s a nice place. Beautiful hardwood floors. There are actually some homes in the northeast in the cities & suburbs that look like your home inside and outside but cost a lot more than $240 for a 3 bedroom. The layout is different because we prefer open floor plans but it’s nice and I’ve definitely been in homes that look almost identical to yours. Also the place was pretty clean for having a new born but I’m with your girl on this one…lol

The US has a great variation in property values by location. Having said that I don't think you could buy a house anything close to yours for $240,000 anywhere in the US today. I'm not sure you could even buy a studio Condo for $240K these days. In a very rural area your house would run $400K to $500K. In the LA basin at least $1M, In a real tony area like Nantucket or maybe Greenwich CT probably closer to $2M.

I live on Long Island in NY and our home is about $1.1m which is the same size as the house my brother has who lives in Oregon but he paid $600k for his house. My younger brother lives in Utah and paid $700k for his. Our parents live in California in the same house my grandparents bought for $60k years ago but its now worth around 1.5m. Location is a big factor

Same size house that was an open-plan detached house and had a garage it would be over $500,000. A similar house that was American sized would be over $700,00 here where I live.

I live in NYC. I don’t live in Manhattan, I’m in Queens, one of the 4 outer boroughs. My house is 75 years old and fully attached (bet you’re jealous). The whole thing is 18 feet wide and about 36 feet long. 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath and a tiny, toilet on the ground level. I do have a basement and a 1 car garage. I think the total above ground square footage is about 1,650 sq. ft. (153 sq. meters). I bought the house in 1997 for $230,000. Today it’s over $800,000. In other parts of the USA, that $800k is a mansion.

    1) congratulations on the new baby!!!! 2) it’s entirely dependent upon where you live in the US. Where I live in SWFL (the Gulf Coast, Southwest Florida) it’s about right, except the bedrooms are minuscule! It would be a 1-story (single floor) fully detached home with a garage attached and probably more yard (usually a 1/2 acre here)

You have a lovely home. Here in the U.S. the cost of a home has a lot to do with where the home is. Big cities such as N.Y., Chicago, L.A. (actually the entire state of California) a house your size would probably be double in price if not higher. Areas like our mid-West, some of the Southern states, you might get a house that is about 1/3 larger than yours at that price. As I said, location is everything here when trying to determine cost.

My free-standing home in a city of around 24,000 people in East Central, Kansas has about 2,000 square feet with two bathrooms and three bedrooms on three levels. The appraisal is about $134,000. It was built in 1950 with steel siding and mostly oak plank flooring. A brand new home on one level with three bedrooms and two bathrooms will be about $200,000. My basement is 60% finished and has a laundry area where the central A/C (heating and cooling) unit is located next to the water heater. My backyard is mostly wood-fenced with a flower garden. I don't know of any homes here that are attached and made of bricks. Your home seems a bit pricey.

Your house is lovely and congrats on your new family member!! 💜 I live in Los Angeles. You can't buy a shed for what you paid for your house. For comparison, my house, built in 1951, is 905 sq.ft. (tiny!!) 2 bedroom 1 bath. Fully detached with a 1 car garage, though I do have a 5,500 sq.ft. lot (so lots of yard). If I sold my house tomorrow, I would get roughly $650,000 for it.

I'm selling my house that is 1440sqft, 3br, and 2bth for around 200k but it needs HVAC and roof reshingleing which would cost about 25k and I knocked that much and a little more off the price, though it comes with 19acres of land, a full basement, a two car garage, a shed, and access to a lake. So that should give you a rough idea. It's more rural here so the houses a pretty good prices, though I live in a nicer rural area.

Yeah, it's all going to depend on location in the US. I have a very similar size house and lot. The only differences being mine is fully detached rather than semi-detached and rather than an en-suite bathroom my second bathroom is on the ground level. I also have a basement but, it's unfinished and is a field-stone foundation so, isn't really good for much besides storage.

However, where I live there is nothing in the $200-300k price range. Even small 2-3 bedroom townhouses now go for $400-500k, it’s ridiculous! Prices are out of control here in northeast US.

Same here in the Northeast. I live in a 4200 sf home, with additional 2000 sf of basement space, about 30 min south of Boston, and I don't think one could buy a studio condo in my town for that price range. Our young adult children are looking at over $400k for a first tiny 1 bedroom condo, and they have to move to another town to find that price range. Looking at a real estate site, there's a 5BR/3.5Bath house on a half acre lot at just over 3200 sq ft that is $289K. But another home that has 3BR/2bath on a smaller plot of land at just over 1500 sq ft costs $239k. It all depends on the neighborhood in your city. That same 5br house could be closer to $800k in another area.
