Is it possible at all to run the Haley inserts within the triple insert to keep full retention on AR mags without having to swap inserts? Are singles our doubles coming?
i recently purchased this mag insert for my haley chest rig and though it does work fairly well. i would recommend widening the 3D printed "lip guide" portion and possibly even adding some concave rounded edges so that the magazines don't slosh around. my main issue is the magazine lugs slip off the 3D printed portion and end up catching on the fabric anyways.
I was thinking the same thing, a good product could become a great product with a version 2. Would take over the entire market instantly. Add an option for more retention and its gold. AK market is growing especially since the ammo price spike
Just wonder if these would fit something like the Tracer Tactical Scout rig. As it does not have a singular pouch per say instead it has troughs? Also, would putting bungee retention strap over top of part of the hook and loop material comprise some of the hold it has to the trough?
Could develop inserts that would work into esstac AK 7.62 pouches. Even they don't fully support their AK 7.62 pouches; as stated in their description.
I'm very interested. Just bought a Beeze Combat Systems AK micro rig, but it seems the insert is more suited for 47 mags, instead of my 74 mags. The only issue I can see with this Hugo system is retention. 100% you tip that rig past 90 degrees those mags are sliding right out. I would be curious if this could be solved somehow. I might still get it, but I'm hung up on that possible factor of them not being fully retained.
While an open top insert such as ours won't provide as much retention as one with a flap or bungee over the top of the magazine, it's definitely enough retention such that the magazines won't slide out. The elastic of our insert is sized such that it provides suitable force (squeeze) on the magazines to retain them even if you tip it past 90 degrees. It's a balancing act of retention vs ease of draw/insertion and we believe we've struck that balance pretty well.
Works amazing. Can tilt upside down and shake no problem. Nice and snug but still easy to insert and remove. And no need for retention straps in any way. Good stuff!
We don't have a Mayflower RC UW on hand to check but we've provided dimensions as well as a procedure you can use to check if it will fit in your setup. Just go to the product page (hugoindustries.com/collections/all-products/products/snag-free-ak-magazine-insert) for more info.
The Micro Fight may be a bit too... micro. We've had a few customers tell us the micro is too small to fit three AK magazines. That said, we do offer a double AK mag insert that definitely fits in the MK4, you'll just have two mags instead of three.
@@HugoIndustries Just wanted to chime in here and voice appreciation for your 2-mag insert. I've got an MK4 myself and can confirm that most triple non-5.56 inserts are too wide for either pocket, and few companies make a 2-mag insert. I had restitched the Spiritus insert to give an extra half-inch or so between 2 of the slots for locking lug clearance, but you still get all the friction issues with the lugs, and you are left with a 3rd slot for something smaller like a flashlight or a pistol mag. The 2 mag insert will give us the flexibility to use whatever pouch we'd like in that left-over space in the chassis and gives that extra rigidity and slight hold-open the plastic dividers provide for reindexing. Great design.

For a version 2, I'd love to see an all in one insert+placard to mount it with so I don't have to hunt down placards that will fit this.
works great with my zastava m85 steel mags and mr hugo included a delicious airhead treat for my consumption :)
That's great to hear! Glad you're happy with it.
Just bought this. Seems like a fantastic solution.
Hope you enjoy it!
Works great! Thanks for the air head!

But how is the retention?
there is no retention adjustment at all, it works pretty well with bulkier magazines but not very well with metal flatback or thin framed magazines.
Hey Hugo, wondering if there was anyway to get one of these shipped to Canada? Willing to pay extra for shipping as a one off thing

Can you make a version that will fit into individual mag pouches?
What front placard is that?

@@HugoIndustries I'll give it a try then. I'll report back when I get it. Thanks for the response.

@@JesterJames22 hey wanna say thanks bro, I was concerned about retention but seeing you update I went and bought one thanks
How is the retention if you shake it upside down?
Is there ways to mount this into a plate carrier?
This is meant to be inserted into a chest rig or pouch style placard.
