It all started in 1979, when the first generation of the G-Class was launched as a rugged vehicle intended for military use. Hand-built in Graz, Austria in collaboration with Austrian manufacturer Steyr, the first G-Wagons came with a rugged exterior design, but quickly gained popularity among civilians due to its durability and outstanding off-road capabilities. In the 80s and 90s, the G-Class evolved both technologically and aesthetically, becoming a symbol of luxury and power. The square, unmistakable design has remained almost unchanged, becoming a symbol of stability and strength.
From 1990 to 2010, Mercedes-Benz continued to innovate the Mercedes-Benz W463, introducing new technologies and safety features while maintaining the tradition and unmistakable style of the G-Class. Starting from 2018, the new generations of G-Class have been equipped with high-performance engines and ultra-luxurious interiors, integrated with the most advanced technologies on the market, redefining the standards in the automotive industry.
The example is the new Mercedes G-Class G550 2025, which proves to be a master both on rough terrain and on asphalt. At the same time, Mercedes-Benz presented the first all-electric version of its iconic G-Class off-road car. The new electric G-Class is equipped with an impressive 116 kWh battery and is powered by four electric motors that provide a total power of 580 HP and a torque of 1,164 Nm.
Since its debut in 1979 as a rugged off-road vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has become a symbol of luxury and innovation.
