Im not gonna lie, this is the best, in depth detailed review of the S Class Coupe to date, many interesting features and close up impossible to spot on the other video materials. Thanks Thomas for this, such detailed presentation of this super luxury coupe.
Another fine review, This S coupe is so beautiful in person. Videos and pictures don't do it justice. Many dream of Ferrari and Lamborghini as dream cars but this is much more easy to live with. A dream car for me, but then again might as well dream of the S65 AMG

Der Film hat perfektes nicht zu schnelles, nicht zu langsames Tempo, der Background war (wie in anderen Autogefühl Tests) interessant und die Kameraarbeit ohne Schwächen. Thomas, du hast großes Können, wenn es um erzählen geht. Und findest clevere und richtig wichtige Details bei den Autos. Bei diesem Review hab mich besonders auf die Zeiten von Motorvision in der 90er Jahren wieder erinnert... P.S. Für mich, die Kamera hat ein bisschen Differenz zwischen Active Body Control off/on jedoch eingefangen. Viele Grüße!

Finally, there there is a mercedes that can join the AMG GTS in having a pretty rear! I've always thought that the mercedes rear ends look rather bulky, but the newer models are slowly fixing that!

Thomas, You give us excellent, in-depth, and full reviews of the vehicles, but one suggestion I have is for you to insert a picture of comparison cars you mention as a review a particular car. For example, you mentioned that the rear of the S500 coupe looks different from the C-class: this will be a good time for you to insert a picture of the C-class rear for viewers to compare.
Wow, I really wouldn’t call myself a Mercedes fan, but this car is not only damn sexy, its technical features massively rock, too. To be honest, I’m pretty impressed. The best car ever? I don’t know. (Watch out for the new BMW 7 Series coming up soon…) But what I know for sure is that this was - by far - the best review of your entire channel IMHO. Excellent work, Thomas! Keep it up!
Thank you Thomas for a fine review. Your review contributed to my decision to purchase this car. My previous car was a 500SL which I loved. I traded it due to no cargo space. The coupe allows me to carry a few extra passengers when needed and the boot is larger. After owning the car now for 12 months, I can say it is a dream to drive. It is a show stopper at every traffic light. This car handles almost as well as the SL. The air suspension is fantastic. The seats are a dream, especially when cornering. I will tell you that my first choice was the cabriolet, however, the dealer was not willing to deal but would on the coupe. Am I happy with this car - YES.

Terrific review Thomas ! This car is stunning inside and out ! The interior looks amazing, and the seats are unlike any other. Love the aggressive front grill . I find the rear of the car a little understated though. I think the tail lights could be sportier, but that is a very small detail when compared to the overall beauty of this MB. Can you please tell me how much does it borrow from the S-Class saloon in terms of safety? Good review. The reviewer is pleasant to listen to and appears knowledgeable. Now, it's already 2021, and I hope to buy a used 2016-2017 model year of this car, maybe this year or next year. The white color of this car is nicer, in my opinion, than all the other colors (including the black one). If Thomas can please confirm that also in 2016-2017 this car has air suspension (not any other suspension), then I would be thankful for such a confirmation.
thanks for following! This very vehicle had that e active body control where the car can lean into the corners (optional). Air suspension is a requirement for this. All S-Class models at Mercedes have air suspension as standard.

I would go for the "Leder porzellan/espressobraun" without extra price, as Mercedes sadly does not offer leather alternative for this one, at least not go for the extra designo option :) This very vehicle however was "Leder Nappa kristallgrau/schwarz"
Mercedes ABC suspension system does not use air suspension, instead it is using hydraulic suspension controlled by the computer. Air suspension is only available with AirMatic that is not equipped on this car.

Razor Rabone thanks man! Well I think I would just be satisfied with the very basic SL model - as it is not a real race car but for relaxed cruising, probably the most comfortable GT. And I would go for the fabric seats :)
Excellent review, very Germanic in a good way - insightful and technical, but please work out the difference between Active (Magic) Body Control which is hydraulic and Airmatic which is pneumatic, the rear wheel drive version of the coupe has the former, it operates at a much higher bar to facilitate the instantaneous adjustments needed to control the body movement , so many reviewers/ motor journalists get this completely wrong. I have the last CL and love its understated wolf in sheep's clothing style but this new one is a much more desirable if a little too showy car, the interior is so very special though!
+Autogefühl I rather like the wheels just as they are. There's an understated elegance from modest sized wheels which is often lost with larger or more flashy wheel designs. It's not for all cars though... for instance it would look completely odd and ugly on a car with more sporting pretensions, say even Mercedes' own SL model, but on this type of massive uber luxury coupe, I think it works well

I am a owner of this car ,controls not good sport mode controls can't see. Very hard for rear passengers to get out.a lot of rear wheel spin in wet,but what a great car feels so good sounds great,looks good so quick so quiet.
One more question, Thomas: In the summary of another review (on another channel / done by another reviewer), the reviewer indicated: "Ride quality can deteriorate on broken pavement (with the 21" AMG wheels)". Have you experienced such a behavior? I thought the air suspension "magically" smoothens most, if not every pavement imperfection. Would appreciate your input, since for me, hoping to purchase a used such vehicle (2016-2017), one of the most appealing required qualities is a smooth ride as much as possible.
Great review. Probably the best looking Mercedes to come out since the W129 SL500 design of the late 1990's.. The car has tremendous presence and class. Probably my first choice over a Rolls Royce Wraith or Bentley Continental GT, that are double the price almost.

Nice detailed review, thank you. Two omissions, firstly abc is an oil rather than an air suspension. You did not comment on the gearbox. Did you get the 7g or the 9g tronic?
Stefan Kolev Hey Stefan, thank you very much! You are right, the 4MATIC models have the air suspension, the others the hydraulic one. Furthermore, coming to your question, the 9G-Tronic is for the rear-wheel models, the 7G for the AWD models. Awesome gearbox, totally flawless and you can hardly feel the steps unless you really push the throttle
Stefan Kolev Re-checked, actually it is a little bit confusing because the S500 has the air suspension from serial production, but the Magic Body Control option make it hydraulic then
The first S500 coupes used to have the 7g tronic, it is only recently that MB have started putting the 9g in them. I am asking because it is unclear which version you got. I am curious as to how you it performs as the 7g left alot to be demanded.
Been keeping my eye on the S500s and the Wraith for some time and like Nick below would like a little info on the AMG versions. The Wraith looks great but at £100k more it seems a little excessive. Perhaps a comparison in you commentary will be useful if and when you do one. Thanks v much for the review.
George Gunnee Thanks! Indeed the S-Class Coupé is a better price/performance deal. Well the AMG version will have just plenty more of power, just be sure not to pick the 65 as that one wont have the special suspension available, just the V8 models (normal an 63)

Thank you Thomas for such a detailed review. I’m in the market for a used S Class Coupe, and considering the S63 . In the USA I can get a 2017 S63 Coupe with low mileage for around $80K. What are your thoughts? Should I stick with the S550 Coupe? Thank you
A perfect car yes it yes it has some negatives but who actually cares, look at that beauty and the beast in one. You Thomas won't belive me but watching this review make my eyes watering a bit 😅

You have made an AMAZING review. I love the S-Class coupe (especially the cabriolet variant). But there is one thing you haven't talked about. And that is SAFETY.
Can you please tell me how much does it borrow from the S-Class saloon in terms of safety? For the coupe and convertible versions, is there available any system that can activate the brakes in case of collision with pedestrians?

Now, it's already 2021, and I hope to buy a used 2016-2017 model year of this car, maybe this year or next year.
The white color of this car is nicer, in my opinion, than all the other colors (including the black one).
If Thomas can please confirm that also in 2016-2017 this car has air suspension (not any other suspension), then I would be thankful for such a confirmation.
thanks for following! This very vehicle had that e active body control where the car can lean into the corners (optional). Air suspension is a requirement for this. All S-Class models at Mercedes have air suspension as standard.

+Joko Tai This car has a superb sound insulation indeed, also at higher speeds. I would go for the "Leder porzellan/espressobraun" without extra price, as Mercedes sadly does not offer leather alternative for this one, at least not go for the extra designo option :) This very vehicle however was "Leder Nappa kristallgrau/schwarz"

Mercedes ABC suspension system does not use air suspension, instead it is using hydraulic suspension controlled by the computer. Air suspension is only available with AirMatic that is not equipped on this car.

Razor Rabone thanks man! Well I think I would just be satisfied with the very basic SL model - as it is not a real race car but for relaxed cruising, probably the most comfortable GT. And I would go for the fabric seats :)
Excellent review, very Germanic in a good way - insightful and technical, but please work out the difference between Active (Magic) Body Control which is hydraulic and Airmatic which is pneumatic, the rear wheel drive version of the coupe has the former, it operates at a much higher bar to facilitate the instantaneous adjustments needed to control the body movement , so many reviewers/ motor journalists get this completely wrong.
I have the last CL and love its understated wolf in sheep's clothing style but this new one is a much more desirable if a little too showy car, the interior is so very special though!

+Autogefühl I rather like the wheels just as they are. There's an understated elegance from modest sized wheels which is often lost with larger or more flashy wheel designs. It's not for all cars though... for instance it would look completely odd and ugly on a car with more sporting pretensions, say even Mercedes' own SL model, but on this type of massive uber luxury coupe, I think it works well

Great review of an elegant looking car. However, the rear end is reminiscent of the Renault Laguna coupe, I feel.

I am a owner of this car ,controls not good sport mode controls can't see. Very hard for rear passengers to get out.a lot of rear wheel spin in wet,but what a great car feels so good sounds great,looks good so quick so quiet.

Have you experienced such a behavior?
I thought the air suspension "magically" smoothens most, if not every pavement imperfection.
Would appreciate your input, since for me, hoping to purchase a used such vehicle (2016-2017), one of the most appealing required qualities is a smooth ride as much as possible.
Great review. Probably the best looking Mercedes to come out since the W129 SL500 design of the late 1990's.. The car has tremendous presence and class. Probably my first choice over a Rolls Royce Wraith or Bentley Continental GT, that are double the price almost.

great review as always, very detailed and well explained... This car is so special, beautiful interior, very classy, and one step in front of the simillar Audi or BMW... Only thing I dont like is rear styling, it looks a bit VW CC, ;P

Nice detailed review, thank you. Two omissions, firstly abc is an oil rather than an air suspension. You did not comment on the gearbox. Did you get the 7g or the 9g tronic?
Stefan Kolev Hey Stefan, thank you very much! You are right, the 4MATIC models have the air suspension, the others the hydraulic one. Furthermore, coming to your question, the 9G-Tronic is for the rear-wheel models, the 7G for the AWD models. Awesome gearbox, totally flawless and you can hardly feel the steps unless you really push the throttle

The first S500 coupes used to have the 7g tronic, it is only recently that MB have started putting the 9g in them. I am asking because it is unclear which version you got. I am curious as to how you it performs as the 7g left alot to be demanded.
Stefan Kolev Cannot compare to the 7G tronic, but I think both do right fine. The 9Speed one even feels a little bit smoother I guess
I would love to see an exterior “head to head” comparison of the C, E & S Coupe since they have a similar design.

Been keeping my eye on the S500s and the Wraith for some time and like Nick below would like a little info on the AMG versions. The Wraith looks great but at £100k more it seems a little excessive. Perhaps a comparison in you commentary will be useful if and when you do one. Thanks v much for the review.
George Gunnee Thanks! Indeed the S-Class Coupé is a better price/performance deal. Well the AMG version will have just plenty more of power, just be sure not to pick the 65 as that one wont have the special suspension available, just the V8 models (normal an 63)
