I am a retired Luthier. Did anybody else see how perfect the decals were on the neck, and no rust on the tuners. Even a blind man would tell you this is a big FAKE.
also notice how the pickups were all conveniently still usable, despite supposedly being left outside for god knows how long he wanted us to believe. my strat from 2014 is having a neck pickup that has low volume output, frets almost flat from constant bending and playing. I put that strat in my room and it doesn’t even get exposed to sunlights. i wonder if this guy can help me rewound my pickups.

Yes me too as it would save me a lot of money. I own 26 guitars and basses so strings that never rust probably don't wear out. That would be a big help to all of us guitar guys & guitar girls on a budget.

Before looking at the comments about this being fake, I noticed right away that the bridge and tailpiece hardware unscrewed without a problem and the screws were totally clean below the surface without any corrosion. The comments confirmed my suspicions.
Well...as an ex-Luthier I was enjoying this, that Epiphone turned out sweet! But then I read the disparaging comments....still, that Epiphone is sweet! That Strat - my first Strat (bought for $200) with in good shape, hardly any fret wear- but the PO had spray painted the body with car lacquer and hadn't let the previous coats cure enough before applying more - instant wrinkle-paint job! I finished in natural in the end and removed the stock 'hard tail' bridge and installed a Kahler Strat-style bridge. Came out pretty sweet too 🙂

Beautiful. At first I was like "OMG someone attempting and destroying an Epiphone...I don't want to watch it's gonna break my heart" Then I couldn't resist, and OMG I'm glad I did! An actual restoration that got done correctly! Absolutely beautiful job. The only thing I would add is do put some bees wax on the tensioner screws, but that's just my own personal preference and not really needed. Thank you for doing this right, you have no idea how relieved I am to see someone actually value a work of art like that. It brings joy to my heart.
Fake or not, I still enjoy seeing it restored. I am not so cynical. Just enjoy the process of restoring something to its close to the original piece. Thanks for sharing.🙏🙏🙏
When you prep/Fake something to make a video. just put a text in the beginning that states this, youll keep the respect. for example "Faked for entertainment purposes"
Yeah. I noticed the lucite plastic knobs show no yellowing either..usually a telltale sign of age. Looks like a newer guitar covered with paint stripper then put into a deep freeze for a while.

I scored one of these at a Flea Market for $20. I did all kinds of stuff to it just for the experience of getting to do it. I even dropped a set of SD invaders in it just because I can. You don't need reason to just do a thing.
I guess my only question would be regarding the strat. Why no grain filler before you painted it? It seems like that wouldve been better for that glossy wet look?
@@28076130513B Its very easy to see that the guitar is newish and all the issues are hand made. Look at the strings, no rust whatsoever. The body besides covered in dirt is actually nearly pristine. The wires have no sign of aging or wear n tear, which they should show it. The pickups lack any sign of forgotten

yep its fake the paint is coming off and yet the wood looks fresh with no dmg😂 even the strings looks clean and what's more the top is so dirty and yet the back looks clean and with a little bit of dusting and it will look good again, even the wirings looks new despite not having a cover on it the color didn't even fade😂
The pre-drilled board for the Epiphone to help you clean all the screws was genius. I'm filing that idea away for future use. Pity you could not save the paint on the Epi - might have looked epic with the checking on it.
It's a 2011 Epi with a poly finish. No way that the "checking" is in any way genuine, it would have been a result of whatever ungodly stuff this guy did to the guitar before he "restored" it

@@28076130513B Real easy... Buy cheap used guitar, throw junk all over it, "restore" it, make money on YT. You can tell it is fake just by the strings, strings rust just from playing them normally. If the whole gutar is a rusty mess, those strings would be rusted out like crazy. Also, the paint on the first guitar is WAY too thick, he smeared something like melted sugar all over the natural wood body and that is the crunchy flakey shell around the guitar that easily comes off with a scrape. On top of that, the wood under the paint is stained, they do not stain wood to then paint over it on any guitar, especially not on a $200 guitar.
It’s not a $300 guitar. That’s a $150 guitar. It’s the cheapest epiphone ever made. And they didn’t make them too long ago. That’s why I know this is fake.
I wasn't talking about the craftmanship. The damage was fake to set up the video. I have an engineering background and I have restored over 100 vintage electronic devices. The damage to this guitar was not natural. It was most likely done by leaving it under water in a creek or irrigation ditch.
I am a luthier retired ,I am 87 years old and I see fake things that are shown all the time to show this kind restoration makes a mockery of true restores can’t watch any more of fake work. Sad.

The Philips radio resto is interesting. The Epi guitar looked as though someone heat torched the new body and covered it in sawdust.
This is fake. The "old" strings he's cutting at the beginning are new. Real strings from a neglected instrument would be a rusty crusty mess.
