Yeah, Sperm Donor default to threats of disownment cause it's worked before, only to learn the hard way that the key word "WORKED BEFORE" (or likely worked on the others) so he got a nasty dose of it not working AT ALL! My guess is they can't justify OP disappearance any longer and you got to LOVE the breakdown of asshole parents who use disownment like a weapon to get their way when it doesn't work anymore cause it requires the threaten to still be DEPENDANT! OP long needed NOTHING from them and they were better off LEAVING HIM ALONE, but as said, soul suckers cannot TOLERATE a victim moving on and doing better without them!
It's like that one story of the OP who had a drinking problem! Hurt one of his siblings and got disowned! He got help by his GF he met AFTER the disownment and life was good till his family reached out and going to see them out of curiosity and to apologize to the brother he hurt. It became obvious Mom reached out cause she was SEEING HOW HAPPY HE WAS WITHOUT THEM with his father making it CLEAR he wanted OP to STAY OUT and only did so cause his wife demanded it, acting like OP should be grateful, even told him such! OP discovered the SOURCE of his drinking problem WAS his family, specifically his parents and their bad behavior and dad made it EASIER to be DONE with him and mom when he tried to make DEMANDS like splitting with his GF (the one who did HIS and his wife job in helping the OP because well OP said he's white, GF is black, dad was BARELY hiding his intolerant racism, hell he wasn't even HIDING IT! That was the BIGGEST factor that OP was done with them) I just LOVED how his dad thought "his shit don't stink" and sure he's happy AND furious as expected of a Kevin! Happy OP left on his own, ANGRY that he wasn't THROWN OUT AGAIN so it's obvious he left on HIS TERMS and not on the NARCISSIT Dad's terms. I swear people and their EGOS, especially Boomer and Gen X! But lets be real, Millennials are going to be UNBEARABLE when they reach those ages, I ASSURE YOU THEY WILL!

I had something similar happen to me. Only I was closer to my family. We, my older brother and I. We were raised by my grandmother and uncle. (Dad's side) Now they (grand mom and uncle) adopted 2 kids, a boy and a girl. When this happened I had just turned 40. I would stop in on my way home from work. This one evening the rest of the crew was there.(grand mom was in the hospital) I went in and asked my sister what was going on, a meeting of the mind or mindless? That's when my older brother called everyone into the living room. He went into a big spiel about grand mom's health as well as uncles issues. Now for the record at this point I had been doing most of the shopping. And some of the cooking. Then I was the first one hit with, my brother addressing me and asked. Well R what are you going to do? To say I was dumbfounded would be an understatement. I went ballistic. Here I'm doing more than the other 3 put together. Then my uncle spookup, I told you you couldn't talk to him. With that I stormed out. The next day I stopped to apologize. That's when I was hit with. We wanted you to "make sacrifices , change your lifestyle, and do more. Talk about being slapped in the face. All I could say was. I see. And I left. There is more to the story. But that I'll save that for another day. For the record. My older brother was a narcissist and pathological liar. Also he passed away.

This isn't a small family, and the parents could have stopped sooner, but they didn't. They kept going. They kept trying. But when they did, they forgot that that child was there. And you can't expect someone to care and be there if you never are. OP didn't have a family, so it was easy for her to walk away. As a child who experienced this situation almost exactly to the T minus the time, freedom, and amount of medically handicapped individuals, it is incredibly selfish for parents to have one child who is medically messed up and then continue having children, creating more genetic monsters that people have to take care of for their entire lives, and it never ends with medically handicapped people, ever. Some are easier than others while some are nightmares the likes of which shouldn't have been allowed to live past a few moments out of the mother. I know it sounds cold and harsh to say such a thing but it's the truth, we as a society should not be condemning anyone to taking care of these kinds of handicapped people, they don't live normal lives like the rest of us and as someone who survived taking care of two very large boys with angel man syndrome I can say it without any hurt to my conscience because its true and the only people at fault are the parents.

If someone wants to set p a guardianship for a child and they don't have the agreement of the possible guardian for a child that person doesn't have to accept the responsibility for the child. OP could totally ignore the situation. OP, just don't call home and totally cut contact with the folks for your own well being.

I honor their commitment to the lives they created but there is a reason I am pro choice. If I knew in advance like most people do for severe problems early in pregnancy, I probably would have ended it. Not just for my benefit but why bring someone into the world to suffer for 70 years.

I'd have been done after the first special needs kid because they're expensive and time-consuming to raise. Meaning you won't have the resources or time to raise subsequent children and that's not fair to them. Often, these parents even force the healthy child/children to care for the ill ones, parentifying them. Then they cry foul when that kid(s) "abandon" the family. They willingly caused their own problems.

Sounds like we shared a life. There were 9 kids in my family, with the oldest being a stepsister, whom was killed in an accident when she was 18 and I was about 9, from moms 1st marriage. Then 3 older brothers, a lying useless one, a flaming gay with mental issues and an alcoholic. 1 older sister, normal and a younger sister that I barely knew and 2 younger brothers, 1 dope smoking with no drive whatsoever and the youngest one that again I wasn't close to. I was like the middle kid as we were all born in sets with me being in the middle.
Dad job hopped regularly and a mom living in delusion.
Dad quilted me into taking over the payments for the truck he Co signed for my oldest brother when after 2 months he decided he didn't want it.
I grew up playing outside by myself and honestly have very few memories of my childhood, staying to myself.
I was so distant from my parents I didn't attend either of their funerals.

This is one of the most egocentric, "American" posts I've ever read (or listened). OP sounds like the type of wife who would immediately divorce her husband the moment she finds out he has terminal cancer, saying, "I didn't give him the cancer, so why should I be responsible for it?"
From the story, it's clear the parents did ignore OP for most of her life-not by choice, though, but because they simply couldn’t afford not to focus on the sick children. She wasn’t abused, she wasn’t controlled, she was ignored. The parents were clearly focused on caring for their sick children.
Does OP have any responsibility to care for her sick siblings? No. Is OP the only victim here? No. Everyone here is a victim of circumstance, but OP makes it out as though she is the sole victim.
"They should have fixed this a long time ago." How?
"They never cared about me, they neglected me all this time." No, they just had to prioritize the other children. If OP hadn’t been healthy, she would have likely been cared for as well. Is that what OP wants? To be one of the sick children?
"They shouldn't have had five kids." That’s eugenics. Let’s take it further: should all homeless people be sterilized? No, let’s take it even further: should we just kill all homeless people?
What OP is doing here is abandoning her siblings and claiming she was the victim all along. OP is an asshole.

What kind of story is that?
OP talks about cleaning the mess of her parents, like, what mess? The fact that 4 out of 5 of their children are basically always in the hospital and/or therapy? That's not a exactly a mess that the parents have created. OP even mentions that her parents had ignored "this" for years, that they had let "this" all build up thinking "this" would just go away, but what is "this"?
Exactly, what kind of problems do the siblings have? Are they mentally deficient? Do they have cancer? Why is it a problem now as if it hasn't been the status quo for the last 30 years or so?
Why does OP mention Thanksgiving and Christmas as if her family had tried to trap her? What does she think was going to happen if she had gone to see her family then and there? That they were going to force her to sign documents?
I don't want to scream "shenanigans" or anything but is this story even real? It feels like some of the most crucial elements have been purposefully left aside.

I typically agree with the OP in situations like this but I think OP is blaming her siblings for their parents failures. None of them asked for the limitations of their bodies and OP basically calling them her parents mess, "I'm not cleaning up their mess" is a shitty thing to say. As Americans we put so much focus on individuality that we're losing our empathy. I think OP should be low to no contact with her parents until they're basically at deaths doorstep, but I think OP essentially abandoning her siblings is bs. Maybe it's just me, but if I left my siblings to be thrust into a system I know is overwhelmed and underfunded, I would never know peace. It would haunt me everyday, and I think OP will regret her decision in a few years.

Did one of the parents wish for a big family on a monkey's paw? Clearly the family is under some kind of curse. How do you have that many kids and ALL OF THEM have some sort of problem and not even the same one? Even if the problem with the youngest was of their own making, that's still statistically unlikely
