I really enjoyed the format of this review.
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC REVIEW & GUIDANCE
More of that please.
Exactly what I thought
thank you for the comparison and interesting history of these shoes. nice video quality and sound btw. !
The Glycerin 11 was the best...a bit heavy, but it was the last Glycerin that had Brooks version of ASICS Gel, and it worked better than the gel in any ASICS.
The 11 was good for sure, that whole era of Glycerin had something to it.
It's interesting as I had exactly had the same issues with both models - the 1080 v11 gave me horrible pain in my right heel, and the Glycerin 19 gave me blisters on the heels. I've run in Glycerins forever, but moved to the 1080 after the blisters. Back to the warhorse Ghosts for the next marathon. Hoping that either the v12 and/or 20s have sorted out the heel issues.
What an EXCELLENT review. No corny jokes or weird music like most reviewers do nowadays. Strictly to the point. Thank you! Brooks recently did away with their Pro Deal accounts so BOOM! There goes my 40% discount that I had for years. New Balance gives me a 25% discount so it looks like Brooks and I are headed for Splitsville. 1080v12 is next and this video just helped me decide. Thank you! New subscriber here..
Thanks Raven Left Foot!

Heck of a Comparison!! The voice 👌🏽 @jeff beck!!
My wife says I have a voice for radio, which is better than being told you have a face for radio. :)

Great detail man thanks, I just got the glycine today and everything feels perfect but it's a bit flat. I'm looking to do an ultra so may swap to the 1080 for that sweet forward roll.
I wear orthotics, tried both. The V12 had to go back because of the shallow toe box and just shallowness upper all around. Couldn't get a good fit at all and the fresh foam was too soft for my 218lb frame. Ended up keeping the Glycerin and I'm enjoying it
Fantastic review 👍🏻😎
Glad you liked it
Fantastic Review !!!!!
Glycerin GTS 20 Blue. How is the fit at toe? Wide or narrow?
Isn’t the G20 coming out with an alternative upper that’s lighter? I could swear I saw something about that in TRE videos. Also, did Brooks lower the drop to 8 mm which I also thought I heard? Thanks.
Yes G20 with Stealthfit knit upper and ligheter as well as G20 GTS with both types of uppers so 4 variants. We will cover all 4 variants in our written review coming soon.
Drop stays at 10mm for all versions
I can't speak to the offset change, but yes, there is the Stealthfit upper as an option to this standard upper, same with the GTS stability models. And yes, also Stealthfit and stability, so four varieties of Glycerin 20.
Saucony Triumph 20 please ♥
Agreed - but I think we're months away from its release.
Live at Ronnie Scott’s was amazing.
I’m going to test some other shoes since i’m not impressed with my glycerin 19’s. I had more fun with much older Glycerin’s.
Same here. They have NOT been improving it every year. It seems they have made a number of arbitrary changes for the sake of having something "new" to market. And I used to LOVE the Glycerin, going back to the 14s....
Thanks for sharing!
For me, it came down to which company I liked more. I've never bought a New Balance shoe I've hated. At times, they are just good, but never bad. With Brooks, I've enjoyed some models a lot, and ended up hating some models. So, if I can't see a noticeable difference trying them on, I'll go with the brand I trust to still be at least good after 150 miles.
Have you had a chance to try on the Stealthfit version of the glycerin? I hear it drops the weight a fair bit and was wondering how the comfort and lockdown on it feel compared to the regular version.
We will be comparing in our full written multi tester review. There are a total of 4 versions: G20 regular upper as here and Stealhtfit and G20 GTS with also both those upper options. I personally am skeptical about Stealthfit knit versions based on prior SF experiences with Levitate., despite lighter weight for sure Snug over the toes..
I have not, but I've talked a bit with one of the reviewers who has the Stealthfit 20 and it sounds like there's something of a weight loss, but hard to factor weight loss when it's 2 full sizes off. Not sure about lockdown though, but I'm sure it'll be covered extensively in the review.
great review! you put alot of info into a small timeframe, question? ive run in the glycerin 19 which had great cushion but felt slow and laggy, especially at the end of my runs when i tried to pick up my pace..i just couldnt do it. the glycerin 19 would keep pace in comfort but never allow me to pick up the pace. does glycerin 20 feel faster to you? did you experience the same show as the glycerin 19 or was it more responsive? other suggestions? thanks
Would love to hear how much of a difference in softness is there compared to say Ride 15?
Not sure if I'll end up with the Ride 15, but I'm sure something within RTR will as well as the 1080 or Glycerin
Will there be a Glycerin GTS 20 at the same time?
For sure review of both versions soon.
In terms of stability they are like equals? I find 1080 beautiful but i'm afraid that is too unstabble. I have a flat feet and i do overpronate
Hey, did you find out about the stability of 1080v12?
@@PranayVi222 no I didn't, but I bought the Glycerin and it's quite stable, but a little boring, it's meant for slow recovery runs. For what I know the 1080 is way more versatile.
I ran in Glycerins from v8 - v18. I then bought v20 and the foam is so soft my foot sinks in them so deep that it is stretching my arch aggressively. This gives me very sharp pain in my plantar and I cannot run in this shoe, period. Had to go to New Balance 860 for firmer midsole. Cannot do the high stack foam shoes.
Which upper? I found the regular mesh not supportive medially even in GTS version I tested. The Stealthfit maybe better based on our other testers in our written review. The foam for sure is soft and highly rebounding.
@@RoadTrailRun I have the standard upper, non-GTS version. Can’t waste another $160 trying a different version. Just will not be using any soft, high stack midsoles. Thanks for the reply!
When is the new balance 1080 V 12 available?
Yep ! I have the orange ones.
Great review! Love the head to head match up. I usually love NB shoes as I have wide feet and they seem to accommodate me better than most brands, however the 1080 just doesn't work even in a wide or extra wide width. I did give the Glycerin 19 in a wide and had a love hate relationship with it. Some days it was ok and some not so much. Just wondering your thoughts on version 20 and if it is wider this year. Thanks for the review and the work.
I'm going to give the NB a try if they ever come up for sale. I wear a 11 1/2 4E in the v9 and 12 4E in the V10. Was thinking of going back to 11 1/2 for the V12. I also wear NB cross-trainers in 6E so the wider, the better. I saw other reviews that said that the V12s are noticeably wider than the V11 so that's a good sign for me.
Agree, brooks in 2e is standard width in other brands
I am on my feet all day mostly standing and walking. Which shoe would help with back pain ?
They might but I might also look to the very broad base Hoka Bondi 7 or 8 here:ruclips.net/video/RRfOrqAfE2I/видео.html
I was told to try brooks because I have flat feet and I got the hoka bondi 8 first and that really hurt my mid foot after 3 hours of work. So I got the glycerin 20. Any recommendations for somone with planter fasciitis, flat feet and neuropathy?
All you mention not ideal for Plantar's anyway. Too soft. you want a firm stable shoe such as for example an ASICS Nimbus or Kayano.
@@ryecivicleague6019 oh I thought squishy would help with they metatarsal pain. Walk on concrete for 6 hours. I have tried so many different shoes. Feet always hurt after work
I have the same issues with my left foot. The Glycerin 20 gives me horrible pain in my arch, like stabbing pain, due to being too soft. I had to go to a New Balance 860. Much firmer and you will need something like that. I would suggest you try on the New Balance Vongo.
Does anyone know how these two compare to the nimbus 24?
I’m not a runner but I’m heavy and I go to the gym 5 days a week to the sit down elliptical. I I’m a brooks girl but I’m unsure about the high heel in the newest brooks. I like more level cushion type shoes. Please help.
The heels aren't really higher and stack overall of foam has not changed but the new foams as here have gotten softer. What works for you now? What doesn't?
@@samwinebaum I have the glycerin 17 and still wearing them just need new shoes cause the out sole is wearing down
Adrenaline gts 22 would be better for you.
Do i need a max cushioned shoe for long miles or will my nike pegasus 38 be enough for 20 mile runs
Depends on your preference but I would fine Peg a rough ride for 20.
I find the Pegasus OK for no more than 10k runs. Not enough shoe for long runs.
1080v12 is not as cushy as More V3 correct ?!?!
Correct, More v3 is more cushy, but the 1080v12 is closer to it than any previous 1080.
@@SpikeToy28 thanks for your review! love your slideshow format with VO too!
@@DarkPa1adin Thanks very much. I did a version where I was videoing while talking about the shoe, and after four or five takes I had one decent cut, but there were too many mistakes/omissions for me to be happy with it. I figured if I wrote a script I could ensure I was including all of the information and points I wanted to make, and then get the visuals right after the fact. Much less stressful.
@@SpikeToy28 so the v12 is softer than v11 but not as soft as More V3 right?
Thank you!
@@dhoang75 Correct.
When do they come out?
Sorry in written description but here too The 1080 releases in April ($160) with the Glycerin 20 expected in July.($160)
Hi is the V12 more soft and cushioned than the more V3 ?
No. The More v3 is softer but the 1080 v12 has a better overall balance between comfort and stability.
Skechers forza 5 ?? Always overlooked!! $63 here in Thailand!!!
Bots already bought all the new brooks’ that came out
More 3 is the most cushioned shoe of Nem Balance...
$160 is too much for either of these heavy daily training shoes IMO.
*INFLATION*
@@whitemailprivilege2830 Puma, Reebok and Skechers say nah.
@@jimoconnor8597 what Reebok sneaker compares to the 1080 ?

@@jimoconnor8597 thank you for the reply. I am going to look at these now online..👍
I think new balance is one of the ugliest shoes ever. Looks like a fake Nike, with a giant N. That giant N ruins the design!
