  • On Friday 18 June, Dr Ricardo Pérez-de la Fuente, Junior Research Fellow in Palaeobiology at St Edmund Hall, spoke on 'Amber: Time Stood Still'.
Amber, fossilised plant resin, allowed small portions of ancient ecosystems to travel forwards in time. Long-extinct organisms became trapped in the resin and preserved in incredible detail for millions of years. But, how is amber found and gathered in the field? What can be learnt about the past of life on Earth from this fascinating material?
