+1 Sub. That was a thorough extensive review on one of my Favorite Classic RPGs. Dragon Age: Origins is hands down the best in the series... ask anyone. Good job, you're edits were hilarious 😂 and you covered just about every fine detail of the game without spoiling the main plot points so I can recommend this to my friend who hasn't played Dragon Age yet (:)). Thanks for covering this Game, it's trully one of my Favorites and again, as you said the Story is where the game really shines. It also is clearly HEAVILY inspired by Lord of The Rings and Game of Thrones, they all have interesting Parallels both in terms of Story, Plot points, and Characters. In all honesty Dragon Age Origins had the Ending Game of Thrones Deserved (:"/) RIP
This is one of the only games where I'll beat it and immediately want to start another playthrough. That puts it in my top five favorite games of all time.
WAIT you only have 11 subscribers? This video is so well done! Take my sub. Now, do all the Dragon Age videos as I am just CONSUMING all the DA content after Dreadwolf announced Alpha. As Sera would say "“Yes! Get in good before you're too big to like!”
@@danakat12 Now 32! I hope all the comments, replies and stuff are pushing this video out. That would be awesome for a new creator, especially one semi-promising us more Dragon Age content as most of us are THIRSTY for some leading up to Dread Wolf!
I played DAO through for the first time just recently, finishing only two weeks ago. Having played DAI first (I know….) I can definitely say this game was an excellent kick off to this series even if it does show its age. Also, thank you for this video, it was very well put together.
Very nice, very fair and balanced review of what I regard as one of the best titles in videogaming history. One advantage of the PC version is that the majority ((but obviously not all) of the issues mentioned within the review can be fixed by mods. The DA Annoyance Remover gets rid of the visuals for those sustained effects plus the annoying audio that goes with some of them, the high res texture pack makes the visuals far more appealing, the Sweet FX presets help with the the lighting, shadows and atmosphere, NPC overhauls get rid of some of the problem of similar, generic NPCs. The Respec Mod allows full customisation of party members so you don't have to stick with the unoptimised builds implemented by Bioware - and that's just a few of them. Origins still has a very lively and active modding community.
I started this game back up a couple of weeks ago and I have about 20 hours in...but damn is this game extremely addictive and the dialouge is very well written and interesting...it definitely keeps me playing for "one more battle"...im playing a female Dwarven fighter and im just having a blast!
I loved the combat tactic system, install the mod which give you 20 more slots. And just watch your team beat every encounter without having to do anything is super satisfying.
I like the sustained talent graphic on.. if it has a visual effect it’s realistic if you have it on. Switch them off if you want to roleplay switching then off! I love showing my power!
This is a great review. I'm starting my first playthrough of the game since it first came out so this was a nice refresher as well as tipping me off on some things I might need to keep in mind such as the RAM limit. Thanks!
That was such a fun and well made video, you definitely deserve recognition for! And it would be great if you covered other positions from the franchise; especially Awakening might be interesting, because thats when we actually start to see the aftermath of EA getting their filthy little hands on BioWare hah. Keep it up, you're doing a really good job!
I love combat in this game, and couldn't believe it how they messed it up in the 2nd one not to mentiont the 3rd one where you just smash buttons and enemies are sponges.
The director of the game resigned during the development of DA:2.. because of exec pressure to ruin the game. And yes.. the combat was so bad.. mages doing shots with their staffs behind their backs.. wtf.
@@patinho5589 I remember being so mad... after Baldurs gate 2 I couldn't find a party based RPG to fit my needs and then Dragon Age Origins came and changed that, I was waiting for the 2nd one to get this piece of crap... hoped the 3rd will go back to its roots but it just changed to running all over a map to get all the crap and fight respawned enemies. I keep hearing how got the combat is in the 3rd one and I just don't get what peaople are talking about. Origins combat looked so real...
@@jerzyhaftka4915 yup. They ruined a total gem they had crafted with the first game. We just needed more of the same with different stories. I couldn’t bother finishing number 2. There was not even items to equip your party members with!
My most played game ever. I played all intros, began the game ~7 times, playing it to various lengths, and completely finished it and Awakening at least 2 times.
Maybe it's because Origins is one of my favorite games, but I've found it very easy to sit through this entire review without getting the urge to click off even once, you're very relaxing to listen to and the pacing is great. What mic do you use?
I thoroughly enjoyed this! I'm a huge Dragon Age fan, and even I didn't know Tim Curry was in here! Will you be reviewing the other games too? Thanks so much for the video!
As soon as I played the human Noble knew I was going to love it due to the fact that you can create your own character and you have options not to mention that you don't have to follow certain steps... Dragon age is one of my top favorite games and dragon age origins is my favorite out of the franchise so far... This is how good this game is that even though it does have flaws it's still a masterpiece and it will be so badass to remaster this game like they did with deep-space... Remaster deep space and the last of us as well as resident evil 4... All those games are classics and masterpieces as well and look how great you turned out even the Mass effect franchise which is also one of my favorite game... Dragon age 2 is a game that I did like but it's not as good as the first one and dragon age inquisition is it good game as well probably I'll put that in my second favorite game the franchise but I hate the level part but if we would have fixed that that game will be so much better than it is...
that third clearly better option doesn't always play nice with whatever you are rolling as - so I am happy that other options are there (but also, you dont always get the extra thing)
I don't know if I'm just lucky, but the game NEVER crashed on me. I played this game like 10 times, for long hours, and never had any problems. Maybe it's a hardware issue? For example my PC was never able to run KOTOR 2 because of my Intel CPU.
Yeah, it doesn't seem to be a universal occurrence, and a hardware issue could be at play. The 4GB patch seems to fix it for most people, but I've read that limiting the game to run on a single CPU core also helped some people.
@@DrJerryGaming I always recommend doing both, 4GB patch, limiting to a single CPU core, in combination with turning off V-Sync. This seems to work for my friends. The issues seem more prevalent the better your pc is.
I had to sell my xbox one... It was really hard because I did buy and downloaded the dragon age franchises all three games.. and I had my Xbox One for a couple years now and I bought those games right off the bat and once in a great while I will play them but it was a long time since I played dragon age until one day I decided to play it and I just fell in love with it all over again.... I can sell it and now I can't play it until I get another one but now I am very determined to get another one because of this game
Think it’s worth mentioning that even buying the ultimate edition you still miss out on a ton of dlc items you’ll never get. Some really good items. It’s also very annoying that your companions some more than others have already been pre leveled and have some useless skill points wasted.
Yeah, an ability to respec skill points like in Awakenings and DA2 would've been nice. There's actually a relatively popular mod for Origins that lets you do this. The "Character Respecialization" mod: www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/14
That comment is so strange. You know, some gamers was asking to remaster or remake old games from another era, like Secret of Mana or Final Fantasy 7 in the 90's. That's very understandable. But asking a remake for a 2009 game that still feel fresh and new with HD graphic, the game was in 720p and you can play it in 1920x1080p. There is voices acting. I mean there is no reason to remaster that game, it does sound so absurd to me, because it is.
so that's why the game keeps crashing... I need to fix this, I want to replay Dragon age Origins again at some point. I thought something was wrong with the GoG version, so I bought the steam version as well (they were both cheap) but that crashed too lol. so the NTCore works for the GOG version?
You spend too much time talking about performance, it's not necessary for an old game. As you can see, everyone already know the entire game and like your video because they like the game. Why presenting it like no one ever played it?
No, not nearly as popular as it is today; although, a few novels in the series were best sellers back then, and Martin was already an award-winning and well-respected fantasy author.
Game is amazing as a first playthrough, I didn't really like the combat system until they finally made it good in Inquisition but it was decent enough. Overall the highlights for me where the companions, Morrigan is just.. she's the goat, Claudia Black is just great.
First, DAO is not too long, every time I've played it through, I said man is it over? Second it's FREE with EA Play, along with some other great games.
