Thanks a bunch for the video. My jack is broken on my camper. I wasn’t sure if I could replace it myself until I saw your video. Short, sweet and straight to the point. Guys like you are a big help on You Tube.
Oscar! No problem! Thanks for watching! I try to make simple and efficient videos! Please follow the channel and check out some other videos! Hope you enjoy! Thanks for the kind words! Glad you were able to change yours out no problem!
On my 2019 forest river toy hauler. My jack rollpin snap off so the jack would not work when we were camping. I had a deck screw in my truck to fix it. I forgot about till now
Larry! I was up the you know what creek with a very small paddle when the teeth stripped out on this last camping trip. I had to go camper to camper to find someone with a jack! Hopefully you get yours fixed properly!
@@HomesteadJay I going to have the dealer do it. Since it is new yet. I would use air on the city water and antifreeze in the fresh water tank. I may play around before it goes to the dealer
John! Yes I have had issues with this unit so I am glad they sent a new one no charge. This was minor compared to the other issues! Thanks for watching!
Hey Jeff! Just take a bolt down to a local hardware store and match it up to something in the assortments they have! That’s what I’d do if I didn’t have anything kicking around! Thanks for tuning in!
@@HomesteadJay thanks for your response. Problem is my city is still on lockdown, no hardware stores to take it to, all curbside pickup. Anyways, bolts would not come out so I had to drill them out, so I will be using a bolt and nut to put the new jack on :)
Mike! Ive had many issues with this camper and had to bring it back and fourth to the dealer a bunch of times so when I called AGAIN about this "minor" thing they didnt even argue with me on it haha I was happy I didnt have to sharpen a pitchfork and light a torch and chase customer service LOL
Hello there Jay. That's great you were able to get the jack at no cost. At least some companies are doing the right thing! Do you crisscross your safety chains when you hook them up? It catches the tongue if it were to come unlatched and will not let it drop down to the ground or pavement and dig in. I do it everytime. Good video and I hope you have a great day. Weatherman lied last week, breaking records with temps in the mid to upper 90's. I think the change is coming for sure this weekend tho. And to think, they get paid good money to tell us all that mess. HAHA, Catch you later buddy.
Bruce! Thanks for coming by! I DO cross my chains for sure, I wouldnt do it any other way! It was 41 degrees this morning here on the homestead but Saturday is suppose to be 70 haha gotta love it! Yeah what a job to get paid right or wrong lol thanks for watching as always!
SEKPrepper! Thanks for tuning in! I wasnt gonna film it because its a real basic thing but then I said sometimes the little projects are the most satisfying! Thanks for the nice words! I hope you enjoy the videos!
I thought the grunt came with aging... Anyways, I now grunting for so many things, it's annoying when I think of it. No wonder I'm getting bald. Hey, where did you get those nice wood blocs? That is my fence! Just kidding! Always handy to have good flat 4x4 for jacking stuff. Ok, I am not the only one to look for BTU value of [excessive] packaging... You never lose time adding anti-seize. It's a time investment for the future. Thanks for sharing!
Joe haha no the grunt = more power lol. Good eye it IS fencing lol old cedar fencing! I was blown away by the slotted cardboard I thought it was very cool and would be efficient to use as a fire starter! I always use an anti-seize when and where I can, It will save me time or someone else down the road if they needed to rework something! It takes no extra time either! Thanks for watching!
Gonna replace my trailer tongue jack this weekend. Thanks for the straightforward video! Very informative.
Great instructional video. I am a anti seize fanatic lol
Stuffs like franks red hot. Put that sh1t on everything lol
Thanks for the advice. Replacing my jack today. wish you all the best with your channel. Steve from Newfoundland
Best of luck! Thanks for the kind words!
Hey when using never seeze wear a pair of nitrile gloves. That way you leave mess behind when you are done. Simply peel off used gloves
Hey there! I worked professionally as a mechanic and the stuff ends up EVERYWHERE no matter if you have a hazmat suit on lol
Great simple info! Could you let me know the brand of the trailer jack? I’d appreciate it 😊
We do not have the unit anymore but im sure you can amazon one indeed

Homestead Jay
Should be under warranty yet, going it to winterize in 2 weeks
@@larrykluckoutdoors8227 Yes we have one more trip next weekend then its winterized! Do you blow yours out with compressed air or antifreeze?

Yes for sure! Not a bad idea to let them handle it
2:09 always a good sign
HAHHA!
Great video. Helped me learn how to swap out our broken tongue jack.
Rock on! Please subscribe for more handy tricks! LOL
Thank you! I didn't know it was threaded!! Exactly what I needed :)
Glad to help!
That's cool they sent you another one Jay! You did good job showing how to change the jack out. Have a good weekend!!

I see you used a regular socket/ratchet tool - do the bolts need to be torqued at all, or just as tight as you can?
I didnt torque. Check every so often. If it was a lugnut or something more travel related id torque but youd notice if it starts to loosen.
What is the socket size for the bolts?
Sorry Shane I do not have the rv anymore! Prob 3/4 if I recall maybe 5/8
New subscribers here so going to go catch up watching your video's !

Doing a replacement on my tongue Jack and the bolts were rusted pretty tight and snapped. Anyone know what size they are ?

I always crisscross my chains because that's how I was taught, but until now, I never knew why! Thanks.
