Brother great video's and thank you for all your tips. You got me working on my 1998 in NYC parts are almost impossible to find. Only place left ford parts giant online. Excellent exhaust setup I wish to do it my car. But I got one quick question does it throw a check engine light on. Asking because in NYC inspection is done every year shop's will not do or even touch you car if the light is on. I really need honest answer plus someone with same car has me. If help me, I really appreciate it. I keep watching good luck with car.
Thank you for your kind words and support. I only have O2s after the upstream cats. There is no O2 after the third cat so the computer doesn’t know. This car is from Minnesota, which explains the engine block heater plug I found today. Very useless in Savannah, GA. My CEL is from a faulty purge valve on my carbon canister. I feel your pain with the scarce parts availability. I still have the front control arms to replace and have to find a ballast for the neon. T2-neonpower dot com has a 5000/12DC/R that should work. Just trying to prioritize my repairs and upgrades. There is more to come.
@@HammerWrench Would you say these are worth getting into, then? I love the look and big, RWD coupes in general, and the rest of the car community hasn’t really affected the prices much on these. Scarce parts don’t sound too fun, however.
@@ianscheurer I thoroughly enjoy getting into mine! I had one 20 years ago and missed it every day after selling it. Body parts and interior can be scarce to find in good shape. Just look for a low mile, southern car. I gave 4k for this one with 83k miles.
The most expensive thing I did to my 97 when I had it was an $600 mandrel exhaust setup made for it (and that's really cheap for the time). Dynomax ultraflow X two in and two out, no rear mufflers. You check listen to her in my vids. Really brought out the refined DOHC sound
You put that smile there! Thank you for making it possible for me to get it. I can’t wait to see your smile when we go for a ride. Wanna do some burnouts for me?
Thanks so much. I will let you know, when my boys drive it, I can hear it from a half a mile away if they are playing around. Can’t sneak anywhere! But it breathes so good. Had a Hemi Dodge want to play and left him every time. Traction control set to off for the most fun.
Definitely do the X pipe. The 3rd cat delete and replace with straight pipe and the muffler delete made it WAY too much like country boy truck sound. Lots of pops on accel and decel. The X should tone it down. I’d do a Magnaflow muffler if I did it again.
@ Thank you for responding and sorry if my question is silly, but when you say magnaflow muffler are you talking about a magnaflow x pipe muffler that would take place of the 3rd cat ?

@@HammerWrench I’m down! I heard Savannah Mall parking lot is a good spot 😂🤷🏼♀️💨💨
Just picked up a mk8 and I'd like to go for this setup. Sounds great.

Sounds amazing
Thanks bud. I like it!
Do you remember what the drone was like on this build? How bad was it? I was thinking of an x pipe and muffler delete.

I’d just use an X pipe where the 3rd cat is and Magnaflow mufflers out back where the stock mufflers are.
Any check engine light with 3rd cat delete? Any mpg increase?
No CEL with the third delete. There isn’t a O2 sensor back there. I have gotten 27mpg in the highway at 65.
I would prefer an h or X to connect the pipes for better scavenging tho.
What’s the setup
3rd cat delete with dual straight pipes in its place, muffler delete. Got a bit raspy!
Dolboeb😂
What does that even mean? 🛠️
