I am sooo happy to hear good news. That hug made me tear up.
As a teacher i would say that always treat your kid smarter than u think he or she is. You train your muscle with heavier weights, do the same with your kid. Show him cartoons that are for his age, not these baby do-re-mi's. Offer him a sippy cup as someone advised. Maybe he doesn't want it at first try but maybe next one. Show him how to use it by using it yourself. Show him that it is safe by using it yourself. Teach him numbers, colours, words, everything. Although he cannot say these words yet, he will know what they mean.
You are doing such a great job and staying positive and keeping your family close, it's awesome to see. He is such a lucky boy to have you but o think he would surprise you mentally as much as he keeps surprising you physically. Sending love to him and strength to you!
Speech therapist here. Most of my patients are silent aspirators meaning there are no outward signs they aspirate like coughing, tearing, etc. So he could still aspirate without you knowing. Good news is if you’re going to aspirate water would be the safest. Bad news is laying down increases the risk of aspirating significantly and the poor little guy can’t sit up I’m sure.
Bless all of you. As a parent of a beautiful young lady that was medically fragile. I know exactly how you are feeling. Our daughter had Trisomy 18. She was trached at 5 Mos and g-tube at 6 years. She had pulmonary hypertension, congestive heart failure, seizures (many daily her entire life), required full assist with all adls. She spent 9 Mos in icu, 4 years and 3 days in a nursing home and finally home at 4 yrs, 9 mos, and 3 days. Every day was a gift. Although nonverbal and non ambulatory she communicated using facial expression (we tried soooo many ways to help her "talk" over the years). She crawled very well until the last couple years as her health deteriorated. She had many surgeries and the hospital was her second home. We knew each day was a gift. She received her heavenly wings at 36 yrs, 5 Mos, and 22 days. We miss her every day even tho it's been over 2 years. Her passing was truly a blessing because her body was so tired. She was the happiest person we knew. She rarely cried - trying to smile through her tears. She taught us and all around her more than we could ever teach us. Unconditional love being the best. Tolerance, acceptance, and advocacy was a daily experience. Our younger daughter has autism so our journey as parents of younh ladies with unique challenges continues. We know this journey can truly isololete parent as our lives as parents. Knowing that there are other parents that are experiencing a journey similar to yours can be a great help. I'm happy your hospital gives you much help and suplies. I have hip luxation and I had 8 operations in my first 5 years of life but my parents had to get a weelchair and every thing thenselves when I was casted. I hope beckham gets better soon because I know how it feels like to be in the hospital❤ stay strong🫶

Unfortunately he can't but he gives us other amazing cues!
Why won't he be able to use buttons to communicate?
An aac could also be beneficial for many other communication needs.
@@stephanie5924 Hi Stephanie What is an aac? I live in denmark and I have Cerebral palsy. I know many adults who do not have a verbal language, but they always have a way of saying yes and no. I work in a kindergarten and our work always starts with finding ways for the children with a disabillity to communicate without verbal language when they are between 2-3 years old
@@lauramagnussonandresen3037An aac is argumentive communication. I can never remember the acronym. It's either a tablet with language software on it like LAMP or it's a Pecs board with pictures on it that a person can point to. Not sure what is available in Denmark.

Awe absolutely! PT will start when he is recovered. As of now, he is using his equipment at home for the next 4 weeks, with the direction of his surgeon!

I just watched the video. So glad Beckham did so well and I know that he will continue to do well. When he was taking water, like Rachel said that was best he has ever done. Go Beckham. It may have been a combination of things, it post surgery, he feels better, he's not as tight, daddy was doing it really slow and calm, and Beckham's head and neck were support/tucked a bit more because of the bed. Over time you may get the same results when he's in his wheelchair vs the highchair, do the head rest support on his wheelchair. So happy for all of you that he won't need as much Botox, but especially Beckham. Hang in there all of you. Love and prayers from TN. XOXOXOXO

I am having back surgery this summer and I have had many leg and hip surgery’s I am nervous for my surgery, but I know I can do it looking at Beckham’s journey makes me feel better because he’s a little fighter and he’s way younger than me. He’s like 4 and like 12 years old I am amazed of how he got to where he is now he will tell his story too many people and I am going to do that too
And little Beckham is handsome, cute and so brave

It good to always try him on syringes of water as some people with brain injury don't feel thirst or hunger. I know because I have a brain inject and it a constant battle for me. I worry about the health of my kidney explicitly when im unwell in anyway...❤

I have been very anxious to hear about the operation. Did you give him a wake up gift? I always got a present when i woke up in the hospital when i was little. Now i'm an adult so i buy a gift when i had botox treatment ❤❤
