The SRT-4s are nice cars, and I like them, they are just so cheap to tune though that they are riced out almost every time. That's why an SRT-4 would be my last resort if I were to buy a car.
@scfitch You are correct but in 2003 this was the fastest car you could buy for under 20,000 dollars. There are people that drive them daily with well over 400whp. And dont even say "yeah but that wont last long" because you'd be wrong. For a street/track car a turbo is a great replacement for displacement, thats why dodge put one on this car.
As far as their exhaust being "fake duals"....it's a 4cyl. It's kinda hard to have "true duals" from the manifold back on any i4cyl, because there's only one exhaust manifold. With a v6, v8 or any V-shaped engine, you can have a separate pipe collecting from each manifold. So no, they are not fake, no more so than those on an EVO or any other 4cyl. And yes they are cheap cars...that's what's so fun about them. They rattle & squeak, they're noisy, and they'll take on cars costing 4Xs as much :)
@paliyev It's "fake" because it's just a y-pipe, "true dual" exhausts means that there are two separate pipes going to two sides of the engine, you can't really make a "true dual" without a v-engine design, v6, v8, etc. One exhaust pipe comes off each side, 3-4 cylinders through one pipe, 3-4 cylinders through the other. Technically you could make a 2+2 inline-4 dual exhaust, but that's no point in that, the cylinders are all in a straight line so splitting the exhaust is just extra weight
@hector1130 No mufflers were ever on SRT-4's, just a catalyst, and 2 resonators, STOCK; but you are half right. It isn't TRUE dual, as in TWO pipes fed directly after the header, it's single/dual split exhaust. No advantage having TRUE dual on a 4 cylinder. But you are correct.

@mastaajbomb no, because that can happen with any car with a cylinder count of more than 4. the reason its a "fake dual" is because 4 cylinder cars cannot have a true dual exhaust. its not possible, unless you get piping for 2 of the cylinders twice. that doesnt make sense. so you get 1 header or manifold and 1 downpipe and 1 cat back. thats how it works. for a 6 cyl or 8 you would get 2, one for each set of cylinders
oh yeah the ass end gets pretty loose in the corners, but its so easy to extract more power out of them so its understandable why they go for that before modding the susp.
@paliyev I think what everyone fails to mention is that true duals are two pipes coming off two banks of cylinders. Mine were true dual on my Mazda 6S til I put in an X-pipe. Now they are considered duals, but still fake. :)
@srtallday LOL, maybe you don't read English, but I did say you could make a true dual for an inline 4 cylinder. What advantage do you think there is? An inline engine won't benefit from having two cylinders split off to another pipe, and you're adding on average 15-25lbs for the extra piping.

how is it riced out, i still see stock body kit. stock spoiler, other than the exhaust, its sound like a stage 3 srt-4. but its still a nice looking car.
@jarjarlol actually that engine along with MANY other 2.#L engines on various cars ARE better with a 3" exhaust. It's turboed which there for actually benefits from a 3 inch exhaust.

Ture Dual is like H pipe or X pipe which is always better for non-turbo north south V motors. Which this car is not.
@s0krfreAk09 The SRT4s definately werent known for handling stock, but a lower and some stiff springs could do alot, I knew someone that had one and it used to keep up with some decent cars, preludes, a turboed CRX his friend had, an S2000, this was years ago in florida, I didnt even know what I was riding in, we (me and the friend I went to visit for those 3 weeks) called it "That weird sounding Neon" lol
@erik5noterik really now, you dont say? the only way to compensate is to re inform us all (for the 100,000th time) that the car is a neon. When i went to the dealer to buy mine i obviously knew it was a neon srt4. Why do you people feel you have to turn it around and try and redeem yourself by stating that "its still a neon". Are you that butthurt that dodge created an inexpensive turbo sports car thats easy to modify and will keep up (or beat) cars that cost twice as much?
im not much of a fan for srt's because of the design of the car. but id give props the car sounds pretty sick but its just the way the cars look that doesnt win me over now the dodge charger would be different but the srt, neon, & geo metro all look the same

@17cusTom it will hang with an sti if he can drive. i,ve beat stock sti's with my long gone at the time stock 05 srt 4. sti's are fast but the srt is also and puts killer power and tq down stock.
so u got is painted black on top. the roof hood and trunk/spoiler are all painted black. well thats cool. actually i agree that srt4 sticker is hideous. its not my car its my friends.
