At 6:42 Cheltenham is a lone engine going backwards on a single track railway....... so how does one manage to film this -- i.e. where is the camcorder??
Ah yes. The engine is coupled to coaches, and I'm standing in the front window. However, on this coach the window is right at the very end so you can't actually the any of the body of the coach in the video. Hope that helps.
Really excellent capture of Cheltenham's performance & 3 cylinder beat, a masterpiece of engineering!
Possibly my favourite engine, and this video has helped convince me even more
Those three cylinder steamers sound great. Another great video as always. Thanks for sharing.
TrainTrackTrav Thanks again! They certainly do.
Sounds great! remember when used to ride behind Repton! she sounded great too!
She does sound good, bit different to Repton but still good!
@@VehicularBrit yes very true but Repton and her are the same class and perform quite similar. The schools class were decent locos
Even better viewed from the footplate. For a bit of extra money you can ride on the footplate!
Lovely. Not quite as earth-moving sound as the Black five vid.
How do you go about filming the front end of a loco when it is going backwards??
I'm not quite sure what you mean. The loco is always at the front of the train, so you can only see whichever end is facing the coaches.

ah it was Cheltenham i didnt know the schools were power class 5.
Yep - 5XP I believe :)
Have about the same tractive effort as a black five too and are the most powerful 4-4-0s ever built
Did someone say Cheltenham?! ;)
Yes, yes they did! xD
