Leaving the same secret service staff in place that was over that horrible mess would be insane and totally irresponsible, people must be fired and replaced immediately.
Cheatle resigned. The detail that was assigned needs to be removed from protective details while they are investigated. The superiors that approved a plan that was lax enough to allow it to happen should be included in this. Even if LEOs were involved the USSS should have confirmed the local roofs were under control.
I'm not sure how many people were removed from protective detail while being investigated, but it sounds like requiring multiple experienced supervisors to review planning is a step in the right direction and reduces the chance that one person can throw a wrench in the works.
