Some interesting looking guitars! I think my favourite were the Tele style models, they had a really nice snappy sound to them. Most of the stuff I play isn't usually associated with a Tele style guitar but if it sounds right then it sounds right!
I think the first Japanese built guitar I may end up getting at some point soon will be made by FujiGen. I have my eye on an Ibanez Prestige 7 string, H S S configuration with Seymour Duncans and a Gotoh trem. Can't recall the exact model number as Ibanez don't exactly make them memorable! As far as I'm aware the Prestiges are made by FujiGen. ~£1500 is a lot of money for a guitar but I think I'll get a lot out of that mix of specs in combination with the Japanese quality.
I have also seen a second hand ESP Snapper Burner in my local area for about £1700 which is roughly half the new price. That is in the top tier of Japanese models though, and whilst it looks absolutely beautiful and very tempting I don't really think I'm worthy of such an instrument yet, having only been playing a couple of years. This Snapper I've seen is a slightly older spec with ESP's own pickups (H S S), they clearly prefer not to use their own pickups in the Original Series anymore as the Snapper Burner was the last Snapper model on their website showing ESP pickups but its recently been updated to Seymour Duncans like all the others. Would be interesting to know why they've made that choice, whether they think the Duncans sound better, or if it's more about brand recognition. You can still get ESP pickups on custom shop orders, these being the proper Japanese made ESP pickups not the cheap imported pickups they brand with their own name for the cheaper LTD models. So seeing ESP going all Seymour Duncan on their Original Series Snappers (Original Series being custom shop quality, just pre-configured models) it's interesting that FujiGen are using both a mix of Seymour Duncans and their own pickups in the models showcased here. Even the highest end of these FGN models shown by Anderton's has their own pickups so they must be pretty decent.
ESP don't seem to do any classic style Strat or Tele type models in their mid-range priced Japanese line, the E-II - they have more contemporary specs like double humbuckers and Floyd Roses, not more vintage style trems. So it's cool that we have these options from FGN and Ibanez Prestige to get those kinds of styles without having to step up to the really high prices of full-fat ESPs, as desirable as they are.

I believe FGN guitars will be crazy expensive when they reach the popularity of Fender, Gibson, ESP and so on. They sell high quality "Made in Japan" guitars in the same price range with Indonesian/Chinese built of the sub-brands. So it would be a great investment for the future. I'm seriously thinking to replace all my Korean built LTDs, Schecters, Mexican Fender with FGN guitars.

I'll be ordering one soon! I had a MIJ Fender "Japanese" Jazz bass from the 80's. It was a Ruby micro Flake... I sold it and have regretted it for years. Nothing has played Close. But I'm not a bassist and bought it because of how great it was. Every Band I was in the Bassist always used it because they couldn't believe how great it was... Also going to order a Vox Clubman 60 when those release. I live in the states but so many companies here are getting destroyed by corporations... I'll gladly order from across the pond to keep an indie shop going.

After legal action by Ovation the name was changed to Elitist in 2003. As of 2008, all of the Elitist models have been discontinued with the exception of the Elitist Casino and the Dwight Trash Casino. I tried an old, I’m sure laminate Aria 12 string from probably the 70s in a shop. I picked up several acoustic guitars that day everything from 1500 -2000 Martins and Taylors on down to Sea Gull, Gretsch and Recording Kings and that old Aria was the best playing and sounding guitar in the shop. I was impressed with how straight the neck was and it had pretty low action to. They were asking 300 for it, it was a lower end model and they were asking about 100 more than what they had been selling for. Maybe it was an extremely good example, but you could tell it had been played. Anyway I told the guy working in the shop that old Aria is the best guitar you got in the shop for the money. He kinda nodded and rolled his eyes at me. They are a shop that specializes in acoustic guitars and they have a room full of new Martins and Taylors and then a room with the more affordable beginner and intermediate stuff. They are kinda guitar snobs I guess. I’ve always loved the old 70s MIJ stuff before it was trendy to those old Yamahas are giant slayers. I’ve always wanted a 12 string but I’ve never pulled the trigger on one. I wish I’d made an offer on that old Aria though it was seriously impressive.
Now everyone is coming around to the old Japanese guitars and they are probably still better than anything you can buy new for 600 or so but the days of scooping them up for a couple hundred bucks is over I’m afraid.

FGN make incredible guitars. I've played about 4-5 of them over the years and I will tell you their boundary series is better than the Fender Mexican line and is around the same price if not cheaper, FGN's entry level guitars are easily on the level on anything else made in japan thats often 2-3X the price. FGN really don't mess around when it comes to attention to detail and quality. A store I went to had a Boudary lliad ( T type) that had the pickguard put in slightly out of place. FGN literally recalled it and sent a replacement on a £550 guitar! From the entry level all the way up to the £2000 Expert range they take their craft and quality of their guitars super seriously and they are really passionate about making guitars, they truly love what they do.
