Just wanted to check in with you hope the new Info today helps you xx I was in such a bad mental state woke up this morning hyperventilating because I had woken to an email saying I still needed an AAA and not just an A in maths which was looking unlikely for me with mock appeals.But I’ve had better luck now with my CAGs which are much higher and what I need except one but fighting for my spot .goodluck xx

I passed maths but I think that's because I never talk in class and usually my maths teacher picks me to answer stuff I already know, but I'm really dumb is not even a joke

@@arden9039 when we mean "worst result" we mean the result for every individual not the result according to the grading system. Learn the difference. Someone who gets A*S and As can have Bs and Cs for thier worst result.
Boris called this a “robust” system , but it’s clear it was incompetent and 40% of students were downgraded , that’s 40% of students that himself and the government let down , I’m absolutely disgusted with the way they dealt with it and based it off a postcode , well done Charlotte for getting into uni and I hope that after the appeal process u get your deserved grades , I’ve watched u for the longest time and Ik you’ve worked incredibly hard, well done I’m so proud of u regardless of what a sheet with a couple of letters says on it 💞💞
ikr and the thing is ppl who went to private colleges apparently didnt get their grades downgraded which is totally unfair to us
sumz a lot of private schools did get downgraded and some state schools went up, its based on the previous results of the school rather whether it’s state/private, but generally private schools do better that’s why less have been moved down xx

The entry requirements for the Manchester course is ABB whilst Sheffield is AAB so actually you’re better off. I understand how hard this must be but don’t let grades define your worth and continue shining❤️

They’ve completely messed up the grades this year for everyone who has done a levels! Please know that your grades whatever you get does not define who you are or your worth! 💕 I might be biased but I’m sure you’ll love Sheffield! I’ve loved it here at uni, it’s a great city with lots to do!
Just remember everything happens for a reason and Sheffield holds every opportunity possible for you. Don’t let this get you down 💕
Im sorry this happened to you, so many people i know who deserve better grades have been hit so hard. You are right in saying we have to make noise, the scottish students protested and within a week, Nicola Sturgeon upgraded grades. love you and wishing you all the best at uni!! xx

Just know that as long as you have passed English and Maths you should be ok, GCSEs do not have as big an impact as you may think

): it’s so heartbreaking how unfairly the system’s treated so many students.. but just wanted to say that last year my friend missed her grades for UCL & instead got a place at Sheffield through clearing. She was so disappointed and convinced she’d in some way failed herself. Now she’s done freshers at Sheffield, she’s SO happy and totally adores her uni and her course... Sheffield apparently is the happiest city in the UK :) ❤️❤️ & it’s Russel Group!!! I wish you as much happiness there as my friend has found for herself... life works itself out, always x

Genuinely feel so bad for you, the exact same thing happend at my school and my grades that I got were not what I should have got - meaning I missed out on my firm uni choice! It’s so awful how the government have dealt with this and you defo didn’t deserve this xx

I got my AS results and I got downgraded so badly, and I can’t imagine how it feels for people who received their A levels. It’s appalling! And if you’re struggling to make friends with people who are going to Sheffield, I live there and hope to go next year💗

I got BBB and I was so disappointed with those results as I had worked so hard and seen a massive improvement in my essays throughout year 13 to the point where at the end, I was consistently getting A’s and high B’s, and I’m adamant that had i sat the exams, I alongside thousands of people our age (clearly yourself included) would’ve done better. And getting these grades that don’t reflect my overall ability is going to be the best thing that ever happened to me. From here on, everything I do is going to revolve around proving that the people who gave me those grades are wrong, and I know that you’ll do the same-good luck!

I’m so sorry that it happened to you. I got somewhat lucky with my first year BTEC result but you have worked your socks off in all parts of your education. Do not worry about going to sheffield!! My brother goes there and he is enjoying it way more than he thought he would! My sister also did her a-levels this year and got downgraded so she didn't get accepted by her first choice, edinburough (sorry idk how to spell it), but she appealed and went through clearing and is now going to aberdeen
This year has been incredibly unfair for everyone. I also went to the University of Sheffield as my insurance choice (it was a few years ago and not the same situation as I actually got to sit my exams), but it was genuinely the best thing to happen to me! I absolutely loved it there, made lifelong friends, and when I graduated got a job in Sheffield because I didn't want to leave such a fantastic city. I am sure that you will love it there too, and you know that your grades aren't a true reflection of your ability, so go and smash your degree and have the best three years!

My grades were absolutely rubbish but still managed to get into the uni I wanted. No matter how hard we’ve tried the government will never realise our own hard work. Well done for getting into uni. 🥰💞💞

I did my A levels 35 years ago and still remember that gut wrenching feeling of being turned down and then there was no pandemic to worry about!! I still got to go to Uni,get my degree and do fab things since. As time goes on you realise just how much potential you have and what you can do. This happened to so many people I know, on the bath chats I’m on more people missed out than got in due to downgraded. Everyone at my school got downgraded from as and a*s that they deserved to cs etc so so many people missed their first choices. It seems like they haven’t taken into account the schools previous etc (I’m at a grammar). After the news they said there shouldn’t be a cap on uni places, however my bf missed out on going to a top uni and now due to lack of studio space he isn’t in either way despite getting above the requirements which is crazy. Like everything just happened 5 days too late. I hope the news helps you get into your first choice, and that everything will work out.

There are 2 types of results opening videos.
1. The person gets trash results but he/she doesn't care
2. The person gets genuinely good results but they start to cry because they got 8 in 1 subject.

My boyfriends studying Philosophy at Sheffield this year. It’s a really lovely university, the lecturers are fantastic and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. I’m sorry you didn’t get into your first choice, but every cloud has a silver lining. I’m at Sheffield Hallam and I love it, they’re a really good uni xx

this year has been so so tough and so many people have been adversely affected. i’m lucky and was only downgraded in one subject and got into the uni i wanted but i know so many people who didn’t get the grades they needed, wanted or deserved. you should be so proud of your grades but i understand why you’d be upset x

I'm absolutely fuming for you. I know so many people whose dreams have been crushed by the grade system this year and my heart breaks for everyone affected by this. I almost feel guilty for getting the same grades that my teachers predicted me.
