He turned on his indicator to the left, whilst someone was driving in his blindspot as you can see on the left corner of the left mirror. The car recognized the car and gave a warning sound, as well as the ambient lightning changing to red, to indicate possible danger. This is genius and very well thought out. Respect to Mercedes for this one, even though I'm not the biggest fan of the new S Class.

I love how it is illegal to be on your phone while driving, however, it is somehow perfectly fine to be surrounded by two huge touchscreens.
There are cars that will not let you use the touchscreen for actions that take more than a moment, like manually writing an adress for the GPS. If low-end cars do that, then most should do that too.
Also, you don't have to hold that screen, and the interactions with the system are much more limited than with a phone.

My third s class. The exterior design looks much better in person. The ride and drive are both improved. The dual screen layout is a step backwards for this series both aesthetically and in functionality . The center touch touch screen takes your eye off of the road to operate while you search for a menu or try something as simple changing the radio channel. It also takes away from the comfort experience because the ergonomics of the touchscreen are just far enough away from the user to make the driver move his driving position to operate it. The center console takes away the armrest for your forearm as well as reduces the cup holders size.The touch screen stays covered in fingerprints and the fingerprint id is an extra step that gets annoying on a daily basis. The touch screen is also hard to see at times with the suns reflections. The new air vents sit high and away from the driver and cause a distracting reflection on the windshield. The ride,drive, and seats are outstanding , but the electronics make it very frustrating to operate.

A lot of phone users I have rode with spent less than half a second looking at their phone at a time, and 1-3 seconds looking at the road, plenty of time to see what's going on and make mature traffic decisions. Ofc there are those who don't look at all but they are generally bad drivers and will crash either way some time.
Most of the infotainment users are the worst. As soon as they start to fiddle with the screen, they don't stop and they barely look at the road, swerwing left to right and correcting super jittery. They can spend up to 5 seconds at a time looking at screens whether it's the center or dashboard console, barely a second to look at the road only to look down again.
