I came here in 1995 as a kid for the first time, Sega VirtuaLand was here it was epic. The "Nile River" ran through, which is no longer here. I came again in August 2019 as an adult, won lots of money on the slots here, coming again in April 2020. Though many things that were ahead of their time have been removed, this hotel is amazing and great to me for past and present experiences. Do not let any haters prove you different.

Dani, I lived in Vegas 1991 to 1993 and your video's are right on! Ppl in Vegas or those wanting to go, should hook up to this channel! Great history, most accurate and realistic tours ever! History of Vegas, can be very confusing bc there are actually more than one line of . I can tell stories about the industrial park on the South Side of the Strip that would curl your hair. :Hmmm...Industrial Park...quiet back area..five new Casinos going in you say...Like NY/NY, Paris...??? A bit more because one of them is going to need a lot of water (thus began the greatest water hunt in unknown history! They needed water of course for the Venetian. Relax, you can't get history wrong in Vegas because the real truth will never be known. The only facts are when something was built, blown up, and replaced by whom?

Was in Vegas in '96 when Luxor was in full regalia in Egyptian theme cosplay dress up performers and cocktail waitress. Really liked the "Pharaoh's Curse tomb" motion ride and Gameworks arcade.

Great video! The Luxor was one of the first properties I visited on my first trip to Vegas, to show how long ago that was, I played nickel slots with real nickels! I too love the themed properties and get concerned that a lot of Vegas seems to be moving more toward the luxury hotels that don't have a specific theme. I can get luxury hotels in many cities but I visit Vegas for the uniquely themed properties. Hopefully they'll make a comeback soon.

This video, and your entire channel, is excellent! These are the best videos I've found of someone filming and commenting on Las Vegas casinos! Exactly the type of videos I was looking for on RUclips. Your voice and narration is excellent, as is your filming. I've watched several of your videos already, and plan to watch all of them!
I've never been to Las Vegas, but I love seeing footage of casinos and anything else there, so, yay! Wow, it would be awesome to live in Las Vegas (as I assume you do, or live very close to it).

another reason vegas boomed in 93-94 was the release of the movie “fear and loathing in las vegas” starring johnny depp about hunter s thompson. i actually had a relative who ran away from home as a 17 year old around 94-95 and she went to vegas with her “boyfriend”. crazy times. the police eventually tracked them down and found them. they drove to vegas from wisconsin! can you imagine! before the internet! back when kids were still wild and crazy.

Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again it’s neat going up there and videoing the bottom. I’m in the ghost hunting and I never experienced anything paranormal dam plus I never heard it was haunted so I didn’t really look for paranormal! That’s cool to know!

    Amazing Archaeological Find (sort of)
The long lost remains of "The Treasures of King Tut's Tomb" (replicas), mentioned in your video, have been found and are in The Las Vegas Natural History Museum! When the Luxor first opened "The Treasures of King Tut's Tomb" was the foremost attraction.
When MGM bought the Luxor they ripped out most of the art work and probably dumped it into the landfill. The hotel check in desk was in the form of Cleopatra's luxury barge, now gone.
MGM CEO, possibly after viewing the true life documentary(?) 1999 movie "The Mummy", and fearing being eaten alive by a mass attack of beetles, donated King Tut's replica remains to the museum, instead of dumping replica Tut into the garbage pit.
The Natural History Museum is located at 900 N Las Vegas Blv , past downtown, and next to Heritage Park and Cashman ball park..The museum includes the remains of dinosaurs and ice age mammals including the very exciting and sexy Giant Ground Sloth!

Don't remember the talking camels, but I did go on that boat ride. Rooms can get pretty cheap, but the "resort fee" is up to $35 bucks a night now,...'course you don't get anything more than when it was $16 bucks.
Its a nice place to stay (kinda like a Best Western) I stay there once a year, but don't go in Summer because the A/C in the rooms really sucks (really bad design is what the maintenance guy told me when I called him to my room) it will literally be cooler in the hallway just outside your door than in your room!
,...and the buffet is really sad, I mean eggo waffles, really?...and they weren't even blueberry!
I miss the McDonald's in the food court :(

The bombing mentioned in the video was a love triangle, old boyfriend killing the new boyfriend.
When MGM took control of the Luxor, they ripped out much of the Egyptian art. The MGM CEO said gamblers don't care about theme art, but most of the visitors to Vegas are tourists and conventioneers who do like the themed resorts. MGM also ripped out most of the pirate stuff in the Treasure Island.
Slow down your video panning. You are making me dizzy.

  • @JoinTheProgress
    @JoinTheProgress 6 лет назад +1

I've been about a half dozen times since 2006, but never stayed there, haven't been to Vegas since around 2010. The bizarre thing about the place is that the bottom of it is obviously a square...the bottom of a pyramid. Yet the clever floor designers managed to make that simple square into something of a maze; it took me almost that half dozen times to *not* get lost on the first two floors.
If I have a map and know where North is, I'm good. But whomever laid out the floor plan did a fairly genius job at making it *quite* disorienting as far as determining where the front is once you start to wander around. Pretty cool in that regard (or frustrating if you need to go). I met someone once who claimed to experience the same thing, so I was relieved to hear I wasn't the only one.
I heard the rooms there are among the worst on the Strip next to Circus Circus, so I never stayed, tho the reviews on YT make them seem ok. I remember how novel the pyramid concept was back in the early 90's, my grandparents used to talk about it back then.
I saw my first girlie show there (Fantasy) as a 40-or-so-year-old, which was pretty embarrassing to admit. Never bothered with strip shows, what's the point...but since I don't drink or gamble, I needed entertainment, so what they hey.
It was great, and the girls signed and took pictures with anyone who wanted after the show. The lead dancer was stunning (most of the girls were good to very great looking but a couple were more on the average side), and spent extra time with me while wearing a high-cut thong one piece, giving me a serious situation in my pants and leaving a definite impression. She even made an effort at eye contact during the show, making me wonder if maybe I should've asked her out, or, more likely, if such a thought was completely delusional.
    (Likely the latter).
