How was the Milky Way map created?

The European Space Agency's (ESA) 3D Map of the Milky Way project captures the launch and observations of the Gaia space telescope, launched in December 2013.
You can see a 360-degree panoramic view of the Milky Way as we know it and learn more about how the image was created.
