I am really intrigued now to read this book!! It's interesting to see how others experience mental illness and how they try to overcome or live with it. But I also am so happy that we actually get to read books like that these days. In the 90s/00s this was a taboo and a sign of weakness. There was no way you could reach out to someone and just - by reading- figure out things on your own and learn that you are not alone and valuable as a person.

This is a very good point! Highlighting just how far we’ve come with mental health awareness and our ability to reach out and connect with one another.

to be fair I have learnt a lot from your channel and posts. I am a 54-year-old and have been married for 30 years to a wonderful woman who put up with me. I don't always understand gender differences (if I ever get your pronoun wrong please understand it is simply because I am not fully versed about it) or things concerning the LBGT+ (is that how it is written?) but I am trying to learn and understand. I 'know' it can be difficult and that even in the enlightened 21 century it is still belittled and attacks upon the community are still ongoing. I think I've lost the thread of my post! Anyway, it is thanks to people like yourself who point us to new and different lit that helps people like myself to grow in understanding. You are brilliant and I appreciate the time you take, even when you don't feel like it, to read reviews and posts. My reading taste has changed radically since finding your channel. and I am enjoying Asian lit. Thanks again and know that you are loved. Sorry about the rambling post but I just needed to let you know that you are never alone. Cheers and have a great day and an even better week 😉

Ahhhh, I've been so looking forward to this book- not gonna lie, the title sold it to me and I was ready to read it regardless, but it actually sounds great! I love the idea of reading transcripts of a therapy session- I read a graphic novel like that, and it was a fascinating insight!

I read the book but didn`t like it at all. Not because of her mental issues, which I feel are depicted in a sensitive yet direct way, but because of her "therapist" who doesn`t seem to be very good in his job. I still liked to listen to your point of view and found it very enlightening to understand your pov why you enjoyed it.

The author did a good job with relating to other people, but this does not get to the root of the depression. It does not solve the depression itself. Everyone’s mental health, experiences and thoughts are different. The only One who can truly remove these heavy burdens are GOD and Jesus. It says in the Bible that Jesus’ yoke is light. So if we surrender our whole life to Him, we will realize that everyone is going through something but Jesus will turn your heavy burden light. He takes away these feelings and replaces them with joy ❤️
