G'day! A very different sort of video today but one I hope you enjoy! The delay on getting this out was due to issues obtaining the correct license to use the retro BOAC footage and of course getting back to Australia to actually edit this together! Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy!

Ever heard of Concorde? Don't get me wrong, the 747 is very nice but to call it the coolest aircraft? Surely that title goes to the only profitable passenger plane to fly at mach 2

I love when airlines have these retro liveries and pay tribute to their heritage. I only wish I could’ve flown on one of those original 747-100s. I’ll be flying to London in a few months and hopefully I get a chance to travel on this beautiful plane!

What a remarkable experience! I spent two decades in aircraft hangars at airports and have been away for 7 years now. I miss the noise and hubbub of busy airports! That was a huge honor to get to be there for this beautiful bird's arrival. I remember as a kid seeing the BOAC Super VC10s in Rio, in Brazil. I always hated to leave the airport and remember trying, when I was about 4 or so, to stick myself to the glass so my dad couldn't make me leave! Great memories! Great livery! Great tribute to the lore of yesterday! Thanks for this video.

I hope Air NZ do a few retro paint schemes on their aircraft. A A321neo in the delivery TEAL DC-8 scheme with the dark blue southern cross tail or a 777 in the DC-10 scheme would look great.

G'day Dj, Thank you! What a blast from the past. This takes me back to my first trip to London, even the rain is the same! There was always something special about BOAC. When they started flying the 747 they were still stinging from the tragedy that was The Comet. Had that not happened BOAC would have dominated the trans-Atlantic and world wide routes. Yet, the strength of the company and its wonderful staff quickly regained world wide confidence even if it was with an American aircraft.
It's difficult to remember after all these years but I flew with BOAC at least twice and I do recall excellent service and totally unflappable, friendly professionalism. Hard to believe these days but people, like me, used to save up to fly... fly anywhere! The destination was unimportant the real thrill was the enjoyment of the trip.
This is one of the best videos you've done, in terms of nostalgia and very well put together. One likes to think that they kitted out the interior in period fittings but, realistically, that would have cost a fortune. The exterior paint job is stunning. I wish I could have seen it in the 'flesh'; I could have looked at it for an hour or more. Thanks, mate. Outstanding effort! Cheers, BH

I got a chance to see the BOAC livery plane fly over the LA basin, heading to LAX last week. I'm pretty sure I, as well as plane fans, will be seeing that plane with that livery fly over for another few years, as the Boeing 747 heads off to retirement.
Wow DJ's Aviation, what a great privilege for you to go inside the hangar to film the massive and beautiful aircraft. Save and preserve this film.

Wow, that's amazing. So that's why you were in London, how did you even get invited to that? One thing I must say is though, this shows just how dedicated people are to the 747. There have just been so many ceremonious separations from fleets for this aircraft that it shows that most airlines must absolutely not want an additional quad jets in their fleet to turn down the -8, and we know that BA could use it. Its a sheer contrast to the recent retirements of A380's that we've seen and outlines just how unsuccessful that aircraft really is. And for BA to do all this on a plane they know will only last another 5 years at best? That says something.
