But not the ones in the west😭 in UK the divide and hatred is very intense. Most African nationalities despise the Jamaicans they see them as the bottom of the barrel 🙄 (a handful of educated ones will mingle/socialise or marry) its very sad. However I have noticed the ones back home seem to be a bit more welcoming.

You should meet with the Jamaican Maroons that can still speak a Ghanaian dialect, or even the Dutch speaking Surinamese Maroons that also speak a Ghanaian language. You might have to travel as the older heads are the ones you need to speak to! And FYI it is thought that Ackee's use in cooking came from somewhere in Ghana so although not in popular use now it probably was by some back then.

Hamamat is funny. She is acting as if she doesn't know we eat green banana in Ghana. As a child growing up around Lake Bosomtwi in the Ashanti Region, we boiled/cooked green banana for lunch at least 3 times a week. Eating boiled green banana is very common in the rural areas in Ghana......at least in the Ashanti Region, though I am not aware of other Regions.

One love from Jamaica. Family can never hide even when growing up far and apart. It is really good to see the interactions in terms of food preparation and the love expressed. There has always been so much in common with us, that the Jamaica of now needs to take back, apart from the food and a few of the spoken words. There has been much of a fight throughout Chattel Slavery and after. The history is well endowed with all those struggles. In fact most of the free villages established by the first freedom fighters ( Maroon (a word I refused to identify with because of its Europeanized label) ) were actually from the so called Gold Coast of West Africa in which Ghanaian ancestry and others were fully involved. Yes there were other regions of the mother continent that were part of the adventure from Senegal to the Congo but far more of the people were as mentioned before are from Gold Coast and the inner regions of the Gold Coast.
So much has changed though over the years, being negatively impacted by the wretched deceptions of British colonialism and others from the west. That some of our people there in the diaspora are so entrenched in the ways of the colonizers. Save for continued struggles along with the initial Pan Africanist movement by Marcus Garvey and the incumbent Rastafari movement, the fight continues to enlighten the will of the people to appreciate their African ancestry. True there are an integrated percentage of Asian ancestry from the Sub continental region of India and also of China and others including European descents but the majority of the people 85 to 90 and more percent is representative of the African ancestry. The motto which has expressed that says "Out of many one people" in my opinion conjures the harmony that is befitted in the good relations among the contingents that are consisted of those who had crossed the common line of being mixed and otherwise but is still looked at, accepted and proud to be called Jamaicans together without discrimination.
One love and much Blessings. Jah love❤️
