This is what you call winning the Trifecta from seeing three of the greatest stars in Hollywood history all together on one stage. Must of been one hell of a star-studded evening!
Three absolute giants of the entertainment world! I consider myself lucky to have seen their work while they were in their prime. I met Jimmy in 1967, he was a joy to be around.
Back when a laser wit and brilliant timing meant something, young Bing, and Bob, tripping up Jimmy yet Jimmy is having none of it paying them right back. LOVE THIS!!
Although I loved Bob Hope, (and of course Bing too), and was taken by Jimmy... I can't help being swept away by the poise and charm of Bing. Such a refined man. Wow! ❤ And then I have to stop and remind myself that I loved Bob the most. 😊 They just don't make men like those anymore. 😢
No entiendo inglés,pero solo ver a Bob Hope y las reacciones q provocaba me alcanza p reírme y alegrarme la vida aunque sea un ratito...tuve la suerte de ver películas de el en castellano y era genial..!maravillosos recuerdos...
You know this was one damm good Entertainment show on a Saturday night I always watched. TV was good back in those days not like now. I hate SNL at all its run its coarse and is not funny anymore to me.They don,t make these shows anymore as well as the guests to. Sad but now they are all passed on. I miss them....
It would have been perfect, if they also had Donald O'Connor on this segment. Having worked and costarred with Bing and Jimmy. Not to mention, had been a host himself several times.
Every live broadcast with Bob Hope went over scheduled time due to his non-stop ad-libbing which never failed to reel in others who'd go off script...those broadcasts would inevitably end "We're out of time folks, so good night!"
Can you imagine today's "stars" or "entertainment" try and do this? This current generation is Pathetic and a Sad reality for folks today. Just Worthless...
Reminds me of a Jack Benny video clip with FredAllen and Eddie Cantor. Jack accidentally raised his arm in front of Eddie, whose comeback was "You're covering me." All ad libbed.
Because Bing came up with his own lines, unlike Bob. It shows whenever they appeared in each other's shows. Either one went off the script. Bing usually reacted by throwing in a witty quip, and Bob would complain. No hate towards Bob, but he was very reliant on cue cards. Fact is, he was one of the first entertainers to use it.
Pertaining to your comment, you are not alone. I will agree that this type of entertainment which I saw myself in my teen years was classy, elegant, clean and proper--not like today. At any rate, sadly enough, behind the scenes, Bob Hope was playing golf with Richard Nixon and Prescott Bush during the World War 2 years. Prescott Bush, through his Union Banking Corporation financed Hitler's rise to power. I am darn sure that Bob Hope knew about that. During the Viet Nam era, there was a company called the Hope Metal Forming Company which made parts for military equipment that was used in the Viet Nam war. Bob Hope earned big money off that war. While entertaining troops in Viet Nam, he would tell them hope you guys come home soon. Like hell he wanted them to come home soon. That war was earning big profits for him.
I love how Bob Hope could spit out a comeback or witty one-liner on a dime. He made it look so easy.
No one today can come close to these guys.

Golden age of wit, humour, style and class!!!

You sure are one lucky man to have the joy of enjoying these great men in their prime!
+Jim Southern
You lucky dog! I was born in 1991, so these gentlemen are before my time...
@@e-mananimates2274 Only Bob was around then, the other two having already passed away.
@@juliepearce1988 ........ Pardon, but why are you showing me this?
...I recognized th set...of course it was Hollywood Palace...watched it with mom & dad every Saturday night!!!
Back when a laser wit and brilliant timing meant something, young Bing, and Bob, tripping up Jimmy yet Jimmy is having none of it paying them right back. LOVE THIS!!
Bob Hope was the Ultimate Statesman 👍The good ole days when families watched TV together
Bob really appreciated our troops. He was always going over seas to entertain the boys. And even in war areas. Sometimes spending Christmas with them.
You can tell they are having fun with each other.
Three great people who performed to millions of people and got standing ovations . Sure dont make them like that anymore .
3 legends
Bob did so much to entertain the troops overseas and alway made me laugh .
What a trio of hams who were one of a kind and the best thing to happen in Hollywood but we don't have nothing like them anymore
Great to see them together and clowning around. From vaudeville, stage, radio, record albums, tv, and movies --- they've seen it all.
I miss these guys.

Entertainment was invented by these guys!
I have to say seeing all these people make tear up
Bing was the best ever💖💖. But I like bob and Jimmy as well.

Among the greatestes showmen USA gift to mankind. Thanks for all
Wow. Amazing.

Hollywood Palace on Saturday and Ed Sullivan on Sunday. Great times to be a kid.

Ellos eran y serán verdaderos artistas de todos los tiempos! Thank you Nicoley133. Desde Chile un abrazo!
I LOVE Jimmy!
Ah, that good ol' Durante charm!
Sadly, when "The Hollywood Palace" was cancelled in 2/'70, it marked the beginning of the end of the television variety series.
I know. Sad, isn't it😔?
Hehe love these o'l things 😁 Thank you for posting
Love those guys!
Great!!!
A rare non-NBC appearance by Hope. I didn't realize he ever played the Hollywood Palace.
"They don't make 'em like that anymore."If they do,they're not allowed on TV.
Class!
Three legends right there.
When America had talent!
when America was white , dont be afraid to be proud your white
Real Show-business people!
All Greats
Lo ve it!
So unique
best of the best
Real talent. I wonder if they kept this in the show ?
Yes. its obvious
Magic,
Jimmy was great
The patter was written by mostly the same writers over the years - it hummed like a finely oiled machine by '67.
Ah, Bingo, one of the best straightmen in the business.
Joe Hawks sings Bing in Hemet CA
A lot more to him than that.
SPECIAL NIGHT

Im not sure what this has to do with the picture here> Im in entertainment i try to stay away from the politics here.
Clash of the Titans
Nice

Now this is comedy
Ah! That was the first Super Bowl. I know nothing about football. Interesting information, thanks! :)
Every live broadcast with Bob Hope went over scheduled time due to his non-stop ad-libbing which never failed to reel in others who'd go off script...those broadcasts would inevitably end "We're out of time folks, so good night!"
Kelsey Grammar would make a great Bob Hope if they do his bio pic.
George, I've been saying that for years. I'm glad I'm not alone in that view.
Hope and Durante did a Broadway show together in the 30s before Hope went into pictures.
Very sad to think that Ann Sheridan may have been watching this only a week before she died.
W.O.W.
@ George Strum, you're 100% right, Kelsey Grammer would be perfect, who in your opinion, should play the part of bing?
Joe Hawks sings Bing
Can you imagine today's "stars" or "entertainment" try and do this? This current generation is Pathetic and a Sad reality for folks today. Just Worthless...
Doggie Daddy ))
The mistakes make it more entertaining as they wing it a bit.
Jimmy was crowding Hope and I can tell he was annoyed lol
Reminds me of a Jack Benny video clip with FredAllen and Eddie Cantor. Jack accidentally raised his arm in front of Eddie, whose comeback was "You're covering me." All ad libbed.
Does anyone know what year this show was from?

Go to....(TOP SECRET)
Bing always struggled to read out the lines whilst bob was a natural at autocue
Because Bing came up with his own lines, unlike Bob. It shows whenever they appeared in each other's shows. Either one went off the script. Bing usually reacted by throwing in a witty quip, and Bob would complain. No hate towards Bob, but he was very reliant on cue cards. Fact is, he was one of the first entertainers to use it.
So I guess you could say that Bing was a natural at ad-libbing.
The greats a
All three were good, but Durante was superior to either of the others. On a much higher plane.
Compare this real talent of the past, real friends, compare to the over rated snow flakes of today.
so sad Hollywood stink's to hell now compared to the old movie stars
i dont know about bob hope, sometimes his face and expression just bothers me
