Researchers should investigate why after a crash the driver feels the need to drive even more recklessly. Is it to prove you're not an idiot after all? Is it to run away from those who saw you fail as quickly as possible?
Do people not know how to drive cars without ABS? my god. Feather the brake, don't lock the wheels. Don't fucking steer if the wheels are locked, you'll go straight on to the thing you're trying to avoid.
The small cars (hatchbacks) appear to go faster than the big ones. Probably they are the same speeds. And I always thought Mr. Bean was a fast driver. 😄
Looks like frost on the tarmac in a cold shadowed corner, judging by the completely frozen waterfall just there. Plus a decreasing radius to boot. Wonder if the teams had been warned over radio.

Its a rally... They are in a contest. Crashes are "normal" and insured by the event. Any damage caused by the rally is paid for.
Research isn't needed, it's simply adrenalin.
