I have kind of a home remedy for moderately stuck valve caps; I wrap gaffer's tape around the knurl and that gives me just enough grip to unscrew them without pliers, but it does rough up my fingers a bit
I need a silver or silver plated bottom valve cap for a 1940s Conn Tenor/Alto Horn....around 24mm, just under the size of a quarter. Any chance you have one in the junk box?
Did you check to see if one from a Conn director cornet will work? I think they may be the same size. I have a Conn alto horn, so I will check tomorrow if I remember. (I forget everything.)
@@TheBrassandWoodwindShop i have a 1912 conn cornet...the sizes of the valve casings on the cornet and the tenor/alto are different....if the older conn and the director are the same, then the bottom valve cap won't work. The tenor horn has a heavy cap on the 3rd valve. Brass not silver...so I can play the horn. Im just nuts about it having the original type cap. The one I need rests almost perfectly on a quarter and is threaded inside. PS...tenor/alto...im using that terminology, but its an alto horn. In Eb....Thank You!
If they are in good condition, of course they cost more, but the junk ones that are missing parts can be purchased from music stores from their parts pile. Not all music stores have them or will sell them, but most would be happy to get rid of some extra (what they would consider) junk.
i very much wish my flugel horn was in this format. it's a much more comfortable way to hold an instrument. it annoys me that manufacturers go in the reverse direction ... making Eb horns held like a trumpet. since my horn is cheap and chinese i might be looking at its future
I also love how this guy just has boxes and boxes of parts. It’s amazing

Love the video, have you ever think to make a trombonium (a valve trombone shaped as a euphonium) or a bass trumpet?
I did own a trombonium about 18 years ago, but I sold it.
Let's go with new video!!!! Let's go!!!

Where do you buy these horns for 5-10 dollars?

@@TheBrassandWoodwindShop Awesome! Thanks. I love to work on trumpets and build "franken horns" lol I appreciate your reply!

Anyone else get scared when we waved his finger INCHES away from the blow torch flame 😳
If you talk a little slowly you would sound exactly like John Malkovich which is a good thing coz you already look like him.
