- Several rooms made up the queen’s apartments at Versailles: a bedchamber, nobles’ room, Royal table antechamber, guard room, gilded room, méridienne room, library, billiard room, water closet, and toilette room. Each queen to occupy these spaces tailored the rooms to their liking. Their current appearance reflects the alterations made by their last occupant, Marie Antoinette.

Beautiful rooms, but however I have to say that I do understand why the poor people of France ended up rebelling against the monarchy and the aristocracy. But having said that I still think the people were too harsh and vindictive in having them executed so brutally. 🤷♀️

Great presentation! I find that Meek looks a lot like Count Axel von Fersen, alleged lover of Marie Antoinette.
As I watch this, I’m constantly reminded why I don’t travel to Europe. I would need a year to absorb all of the detail of this magnificent palace, not to mention palaces everywhere, and art museums. It doesn’t seem at all worth it to say that I’ve run through the V & A Museum, or the Louvre (or any other wonderful place full of beautiful and meaningful art and furnishings) in a few days. Or even one day. How ridiculous!
It's a shame you think that way. You are doing yourself a huge disservice. I have been to Paris and surrounds five times and still have not seen it all. I have loved every minute of my trips. I haven't "run through" anywhere.

That really makes no sense. Why not enjoy what you ARE able to see and take in for the amount of time you’re there instead of deciding not to see any of it at all….just cause you can’t see everything. It could take a lifetime to see everything there. You have a very odd way of thinking.
Wow this was an unpopular opinion. It’s similar to people who don’t windowshop because they don’t have the means to purchase something they see and might really want, so I kind of understand what this person meant to say..then again, something is better than nothing!
Ppl have told me once you’re in Europe it’s not expensive to travel to nearby cities/countries depending where you’re staying first..I hope it’s still true! I’d love to start with Paris, Versailles, the South of France, then Portugal and Spain..and even Morocco ❤

I think it is hard to sleep naturally into wide and supream decorative room.
I suppose if you’re born into this life it wouldn’t be difficult to have a good nights sleep, but waking up would be a different story with the public Audience she received
The intro photo is NOT the Queen, but Mme. De Pompadour, mistress of Louis XV, and she had died well before M.A. arrived at Versailles. As noted in the French comment below. Get it right, folks!
One of her (Marie Antoinette) biggest mistakes was to have all the renovations done, while the King was financing the war (American Revolution) in the United States.
Although, the King did not raise funds via taxation, nevertheless, the people were outraged that their sufferings were insignificant by him.
Wow. I would like to know more about the builders of this place. How were they trained? How did they get all the materials? Certainly not one of them was manufactured, everything custom made, from the walls to the furniture. Who made them? These were mastercraftsmen, from carpenters, to stone masons, architects, to engineers. Artists all, masters.

They were 3 000 people living daily in the château. You won't find the names of everyone, but you can find some though : Montespan, Maintenon, Richelieu, Saint-Simon, Polignac, Lamballe, Choiseul, Artois, Provence, Condé, Conti, Lambesc, the king's children and wives, etc, etc… Just read "Mémoires" from that time.

Marie Antoinette was a political figure, she was part of the alliance between the French Kingdom and the Austrian Kingdom, so her role was as important as a diplomat and head of executive today. Do you know any diplomats in your country? They are probably the most well-read people there, more than lawyers, than writers and even scientists.
If you were an Austrian or a German, or a Hungarian, or maybe even a Serb nobleman whom wished to expand your political influence to France, maybe have more allies, more connections, whom would you approach? Not the French King, since there were thousands in the "pecking order" fighting for the chance of even taking him out of his bedchambers, since for some reason, in France, the king's bed had the function of the steteotypical "throne" you see in western media about royalty. You'd come to the Queen, just like If I were an important political figure in my country and had political interests in yours, I'd first come to your country's embassy in mine and be acquainted with the diplomats there as a first step.
