  • @blanebostock

    thanks. I also find it helpful to know exactly where the left hand fingers are supposed to
    play in terms of the down and off beats of the phrase, to get the fingers to drum out the rhythm while rocking the body to the time. I can do this away from the piano too. another exercise for unifying both hands is to focus on the left hand while starting out with say half note patterns on the right , then moving to quarter note (these can be single notes), and on to eigth, quarters, sixteenths. To really establish the placement of the phrase in the base of the meter. Helping me.

  • @Alwpiano
    @Alwpiano 3 года назад +5

    I picked quarter-note phrases from Liszt in the right. I mirror them in the left. Using the metronome, I increase by 2bpm a day. No rushing. There are things my left can now do better than my right previously did. I like your method.

    • @PianoteOfficial

      When you stary trying to play hands together are you trying to play at the same speed as separate?
      I'd recommend slowing things right down for hands together, and gradually working back up.

    I have been trying to the stone tower temple song from zelda, my right hand plays easily with little effort, but even tho the left hand melody is redundant and repetitive i still have trouble keeping that timing while my right hand is playing, I can play other songs with both hands, but some patterns with left hand almost seem incompatible with the right hand simultaneously, it blows my mind how much easier it is for me to play with my right hand, makes me feel like i really neglected the left side lol

    Great tips thank you 🙏🏻Just wondering what the reasoning is behind the mirroring technique working to improve the left hand???🤔 I understand the methodology, just now sure how it works to help🤷🏻‍♂️ *scratches head*🥴😅

    • @PianoteOfficial
      @PianoteOfficial  4 года назад +5

      Because our right hand is usually much better it helps to 'force' our left hand to follow along. And mirroring the pattern keeps the fingering the same in both hands - so we don't have to think too much about getting the fingering correct.

    Well, to answer the questions asked. No, my left hand usually do what I want it to do. I never play staccato as it is not my method or preference when playing the piano. It might be a good lesson if I were to play staccato once though.

    • @PianoteOfficial
      @PianoteOfficial  4 года назад +3

      That's great! Although the staccato exercise is not so that you can play staccato, it's to train your fingers and hand to play with precision and control.
