This video took a lot of effort and WAAY to long to get out. Hopefully you enjoy it! And if you do it would mean the world to me if you could give it a like, drop a comment and maybe even share it around if you know someone who would be interested in a video about Lupin Also I have a discord server! That's a lot of Lupin! The timing is nice for me because I just saw the Castle of Cagliostro on the big screen for a 45th anniversary screening. What is Oshii doing writing for Lupin. A minor thing the number gets stuck on Part IV. All in all quite a good video!
Yeah I wanted to watch Cagliostro at the movies myself, but sadly I haven't had the time to do so. I think I see what you mean. With all the minor mistakes I've been missing I'm surprised that somehow slipped past me...
Seriously, nice video! Lupin the Third is truly one of those iconic Classic franchises of anime. I've watched a bit of a good portion of Lupin movies and a few of the modern series, but I still haven't seen the more old school Lupin shows yet, eventually, I will someday! One of my top favorite Lupin movies would be the ones done by Takeshi Koike, Castle of Cagliostro, and the 2019 Lupin the First movie which was so good.
Thank you! Yeah I'm a big fan of Lupin. I actually started with Part 1 because the forum I was a part of at the time decided to do it for a group watch. Ever since then I've been hooked and decided to watch almost everything Lupin.
No wonder I hated the redesigns in the Cagliostro movie. I wasn’t a fan of the more family friendly approach of Lupin. Chibi Lupin. Though, the movie is still enjoyable and with each Lupin looking so different, it’s fine to exist. Besides, it’s hard to hate Miyazaki’s first movie. I just remember because I enjoyed Pt1 first, I wasn’t a fan of the look in Cagliostro and the changes to Lupin franchise when I first saw the movie. It used to annoy me how people would enjoy the movie with all the changes. This was before I realized many see the movie without context of the Lupin franchise. Also, that it was normal for Lupin to look different in each part. I had only seen Pt1 back then and maybe some of the extras. I enjoy the movie as its own thing nowadays.
I don't really hate the Cagliostro movie, but it's definitely not my favorite part of Lupin. On the flip side tho, Miyasaki's episodes in part 2 are easily some of my favorite episodes from Part 2
Thank you for the brilliant video~ All your hard work paid off, This is by far the most Lupin info I've heard in one video and a lot I didn't know as well Thank you for highlighting the voice actors and just how much shuffling around there was Loved to see so many cool scenes throughout the years too~ Thank you for all your hard work, Please keep it up m(_ _)m I hope your having a lovely day, Have a wonderful rest of your week, Be safe & Take care out there wherever you are (^=W=^)7 And you too fellow viewer~
Happy you enjoyed the video! It was a lot of work and a lot of stuff that didn't make it in, but I hope it was an interesting watch even tho this video is a lot longer than usual for me
Idc y'all I absolutely adore Part 3, I recommend! The soundtrack imo is just so unique and I could listen to it all day. On top of that, I enjoy the characterization of our main gang in it, it can just let loose and be silly. (Also as a hardcore Goe fan I LOVE him in this series)
Dude, you even mentioned Tom and Jerry, but not Sun Wukong? Lupin III is so clearly inspired by the Monkey King (indeed a noir version of the Monkey King) that I guess Japanese people commenting on the character don't even mention it.
"i didnt watch all of part 4" *minutes later* "and part 5 is my favorite of the modern lupin" you lost all credibility with that condrtiction like cmon man. if you didnt finnish all the modern seris why would you put one above another. aswell as kinda just vaugly putting out there that part 3 is considered the weakest and all you really said was its lack of consitant animation, sorta a weak part of the video wish there was more to discuss why fans didnt resonate with it for it truly to be the weak link in the series. also kinda seperating the manga as its own section in the begining instead of presenting it in tandum with the anime release and how the anime and mangas perhaps influenced perception of each other seems a miss in a video about the history/evoultion of this stuff.
I don't see that as much of a contradiction honestly. Yes I said Part 5 was my favorite of the modern Lupins. But that's kind of it. It's MY favorite of the modern Lupins. Now if I would have said it's THE BEST of the modern Lupins and completely disregarded Part 4 I would agree. 2nd point I think is fair criticism. I'll keep that in mind. 3rd point as well. Definitely would work going with that angle as well if the point is to constantly compare it to the manga.

I'm glad you enjoy it. I was definitely very put off by part 3 when I watched it. Might have to give it another shot at some point
