Yes very similar conclusion I came to 2-4 cm on most targets. I can put up with that as they are so cheap. My first one has lasted 5 harsh months of use through mud,rain,snow and low temps -"still works. I would suggest if you buy one to block up or tape the sound hole to add an element of waterproofing. My spar one I'm going to wrap the on off button and speaker with " cling film " (translation - seam wrap / clear wrap )...keeps dust and water out....
