Okay I'll do so.
I always thought that he jumped in front of it because he wants to be the one to take down Ben, not anyone else. He’s already well known in the galaxy as the most evil guy ever, but there’s always Ben and the Omnitrix to stop him. So if he’s the one to take down Ben, then there would be no one in the galaxy who would question him or try to stand up to his conquest
I thought that too when I first watched that episode. It would have been weird otherwise to me.
That’s what I was thinking.
Ben is Vilgax’ sworn enemy. So to Vilgax, no one destroys Ben but him and him alone.
It should have been like this but the new series of Ben 10 are soft i think

I know this is unlikely but maybe it is to repay the debt from alien force/ ultimate alien.
Ben once saved Vilgax’s planet and people. And Vilgax was shown to be worshipped as a hero by his people.
So he has finally freed himself and can kill him later
That episode where Ghostfreak took over his planet and took over Ben, too
It is very simple yet not so simple I break it down into several parts. The first part is that Vilgax respects Ben as a Warrior/Fighter at this point in time. 2 Part is his own pride, he would not want Ben 10 Defeated by anyone else but himself. Even if he were to be given what he wants Omnitrix etc. The last part is that Vilgax does most likely not murder children himself. Vilgax has been shown in an episode rescuing a child putting himself at risk, therefore we can assume he has a sense of honor. Fighting Ben as a young warrior is one thing, but he does not really go out of his way. To kill/murder him, the use of the time bomb is in a sense, not murder in the same way as shooting someone in the head or putting a knife in their neck. Vilgax is a complicated being and not just a simple villain or a crazy power-hungry being or something like that. Sure he is not a 'nice' person that is fact and true, but he has moments where we can see an actual person rather than just a villain or a power-hungry being.

Vilgax is not always a villain he is sometimes a hero when it depends on certain circumstances and he is a hero to his own race and planet.

One problem to notice in the first theory.
Vilgax knows well about the omnitrix including the fact it had a fail safe that would never let him die. If vilgax didn’t save Ben, the omnitrix would just turn him into Diamondhead or something.

There are numerous possibilities that range from Vilgax feeling indebted to Ben, Vilgax wanting to be the one to kill Ben to the Laws of the Universe force Vilgax to do it so Ben can create the universe. But we all know that Vilgax did it because the writers wanted it to happen.

I always figured it had something to do with Vilgax sense of honour. However I like your first theory about it being part of the time Loop and knowing that he needs been to survive long enough to go back in time to set him on his path of gaining the Omnitrix and becoming the Dominator of the Galaxy if not universe
I think it is something akin the joker saving Batman from the Riddler's trap in Harley Queen, he has been fighting Ben for so long that he doesn't want anyone but him to kill him, and why he didn't do it/took the omnitrix later I think it is because he wants to do it on his own terms
Nice vids I think Vilgax jumped in front because the blast would have damage the Omnitrix badly and Vilgax wouldn't be able to use it and He will have to find another Omnitrix which is highly not possible cause Azmuth is not making another one cause he knows the danger it will cost

I'm pretty sure he knew exactly what that weapon attea was using and knew he could tank it. So he did to make Ben lower his guard and escape.
He didn't kidnap ben he still has thet twisted sense of right and wrong, remembering his planetary rule, he was just repaying Ben saving him from Attea and internally vowing t defeat him himself in a grander fashion
Maybe he did not kidnap ban or kill him when he got free to gain his trust a little bit
I think people seem to not understand, while Vilgax is a villain and conqueror he isnt a bad guy. We've seen how his people even cheer for him and support him in one episode in alien force or ultimate alien. And overall I think on some level he has respect for Ben and I mean come on we all know if he has the choice hes not gonna let anyone kill Ben as he wants to. Its like the Joker with Batman, if anyone is gonna do it its him.

I think both theories are technically right and he respects Ben as an enemy, that comment about not knowing what came over him was a half lie.
Here is a simple solution: He grew up to a man. The omnitrix will only cause him more trouble and would only needed as an showcase watch, if he ever obtained it. It has no use to him since now he only want to enjoy his damn time which is limited now that all plummers have a warrent to arrest him. Take it like marines wanna arrest Gol. D. Roger and he just wanna live long enough to see joyboy
That Vilgax was actually Ben-gax. He's an alternate Ben in squidhead form
My theory was so that he would be the only one to kill Ben and no else would have the pleasure. My other one was that he didn't want it to damage the Omnitrix. I could see it being the others in the video though.
Maybe he saved Ben because he wants to be the one that's kills Ben himself
But he had the opportunity to kill Ben when he knocked him down.

well in omniverse we have seen that ben's omnitrix can only be operated by and not just any ben but 16 year old ben only in an episode where ben becomes of 10 years old again he is not able to use omnitrix because his DNA doesn't 100% match the 16 year old ben and and he have to use a special code in his voice to reactivate it omnitrix security is so high in omnitrix that no one can use till ben gives the ownership himself so even if vilgax haad the omnitrix now he wouldn't be able to use it

I think the reason why Vilgax saved Ben is because he owed Ben after Ben's team helped him save his own planet in Ulimate Alien

Unlimited is both better written and more respectful to the characters and continuity.
You know that it treats Julie better than Omniverse when she was killed off screen before the first chapter and still better writes her relationship with Ben better than that clown of a sequel.
