It's pretty dope actually. I don't usually look at composers name's, but rather whether I like tune or not and the beginning in this is pretty epic so far. I think it sounded similar to the Goji theme. I do not have the hear to gauge where it's inspired or where it's not. Just whether it sounds pleasant.

Agreed. I personally liked it in gvk. it's reminicent of the classic godzilla theme but new enough to be considered it's own thing.
Despite what many people say, I really like the theme Holkenborg gave Godzilla. It fits his "antagonistic side" if that makes sense. Bear's theme is perfect as well. But this theme really conveys Godzilla's rage.

Actually, Skar King was only the king of that undiscovered part. While yes, he could be considered the king of Hollow Earth, he wasn’t.
@Sean-qg3gg agreed, he wasn't THE king of ALL of hollow earth but rather the king of that specific very large area of hollow earth. I think After the next movie, we might see more Kong story again. Only saying that because Wingard already confirmed that the next mv movie is gonna be a more Godzilla focused story.

OST is a huge improvement from GvK.
People simp for Bear way too much, and honestly who wouldn't, but rights are still a thing and honestly the vibe Adam goes for wouldn't fit with a KOTM styled OST. If they go for something like KOTM again they could bring Bear back.
People just like to hate it cause, "It's not one of Ifukube or Toho's themes."
Biggest reason why Bear and KOTM's score is so hyped is, while not from lack of skill and talent from Bear, is that a lot of it is taken from already existing OG themes. His Ghidorah and Rodan scores along with a few more are original and great, but Goji and Mothra's were already done. He just kind of rearranged it and made it in his own style.
KOTM's score pretty much relies heavily on borrowed music. Tom and Antonio have the monumental task of making OG themes from the ground up to a beloved franchise that has many judgmental fans. Besides, KOTM's style of OST wouldn't work with what Adam is going for anyway.
KOTM is more reverential and awe inducing, which fits the film. It makes sense for the OG themes to be included. It's a love letter to the older movies.
GvK and GxK is a sci-fi zany action packed monster mash and bash fest that's doing its own thing. Totally different takes.
Again, I love KOTM's score. It's peak. But people really need to loosen up and be more open to new and different things.
Just as Godzilla himself has had many iterations and changes throughout his 70 years of existence (with many fans complaining just as much then as they are now every time there's any form of change or new), as well as themes and music during the older Toho films, we should be open to more changes without the rose-tinted glasses on.
Godzilla has always reinvented himself. It's how he has been able to stay as relevant as he did.
I hope this theme continues in the next movie.

Bears score is incredible, like straight perfect. But thats a reflection and addition to what KOTM did as a film. GxK are nothing like KOTM so comparing the score to KOTM is pretty fucking stupid since they do different things altogether

I really like the Frozen Rio bit. It’s a pretty nice heroic version of the theme and I think it’s pretty good!
The whole Frozen Rio soundtrack is awesome IMO and kinda makes people complaining about this OST sound ridiculous.

Anyone find it strange how the Monsterverse is basically a modern day Showa era where it gets goofier over time, but instead of Godzilla becoming more heroic, Godzilla’s becoming more villainous
This movie really changed Godzillas music and roars, he barely does any of his big roars from 2014/king of the monsters anymore just lots of his smaller roar sound effects in this movie. Love his theme in this though, very antagonistic yet powerful
Though I still love Bear McCreary's Godzilla theme, I still gotta admit... Tom Holkenborg's (I hope I spelled that right) Godzilla theme is badass!
I love how the Egypt Fight track literally tells us the rage Godzilla feels towards Kong when Kong came up to the surface to get Godzilla to fight with him.

Godzilla evolveds theme is perfect, it suits monsterverse godzilla better than the previous gvk theme, and it makes more sense because with godzillas evolved form he becomes more of a fierce, angry, "No Buts" godzilla, the theme reflects godzilla becoming more like a "Good Villain" because that theme would work perfect for an evil godzilla too

Yeah nearly everything about KOTM, including the themes are unimaginably overrated imo, I like how Tom did the soundtrack, Godzilla feels more like a threat yet still sometimes a savior, it feels like he’s a natural creature. But KOTM theme, straight up sounds like he’s a superhero and nothing more than that.
The intro is now my definitive theme for this Godzilla
Do these themes deserve the loads of hate they're getting? No, but I can agree that Bear McCreary, Alexandre Desplat, and Henry Jackman were better in the Godzilla and Kong theme composing department. Holkenborg's songs don't really sound all that different from one another, and I know some people are going to bring up McCreary using the Godzilla theme more than once, which indeed he did, but you didn't hear Godzilla's theme play when Rodan, Ghidorah or Mothra showed up. There was more variety in the soundtrack in the movies before GVK. Honestly, from the other movies that Holkenborg has composed for, he was better in those movies than in the Monsterverse, so we know he's talented and has the skill, but why is he just mixing up the same theme a little bit, just slapping another name on it and calling it a separate theme? I have no idea
The idea of the video was this, putting every time that the Godzilla theme played on the soundtrack, which were few times, considering the size of the soundtrack.
To be honest I really have no issue with new composers making Godzilla themes for the Monsterverse. Just that I don't like it when it's like being generic.
It's how leitmotifs work which is how undertale and god of war use the same 4 motifs for half the soundtrack

both Mcreary and Toms themes are good, i dont see the hate - they both represent godzillas presentation in both movies, Mcrearys theme is more heroic and true to the OG while Tom brings out the villianous part of godzilla perfectly, while keeping somewhat of the original "Duu doo doo doo.. doo doo" part of it. but i dont like how toms godzilla theme doesnt have the iconic "dududududududdududu" , but apart from that, both themes are perfect in their own way, people who are starting mass internet arguments over this very much arent godzilla fans, they dont understand that theres several shades of the big G man, he can be an hero, an anti hero, a villian or just an animal. For example, theres the showa era which is a fun heroic godzilla, apart from 54 and 55 ofcourse, and the many themes from the showa era bring out that silliness, this is what Tom, and mcreary was doing, to simply portray godzillas many personalities in unique or cool ways. Dont get me wrong, we all have our opinions and me myself prefer Mcrearys theme but dont spread your opinion by going "oh my god who misses mcreary THIS sucks" or "bro shut up toms theme is bad", grow up and have some decency.
i do hope for the next installment, we have more unique music though from an entirely new artist, who knows, could be nice.

It seems like the consensus is, “Better than GvK, lower than KOTM”, which I definitely agree with. The music conveys the rage and fury of Godzilla well, and it’s a nice blend of orchestral and modern.
I really like this theme, I don't care what anybody else says. Yeah Bear's theme was great but this is still awesome and it fits how Godzilla has been acting these past 2 movies.

What I dislike from Bear is that here just upgraded the og Themes instance of using some of the previous films themesz there Godzilla goes from Villains to Super Hero with the Song, maybe using that as the main frame and mixing it with the Og Theme and Chants . But what do I said I'm not a compositor. But I Love his Version of Ghidorah and Rodan which are originals a bit reinterpretation or a remix of thee old themes

Here are my favorite parts of Godzilla's Theme. Leaving Colosseum: 0:29,French Army: 1:14,Egypt Fight: 3:13,Collapsing Gravity: 4:23 and my favorite from all of them,Frozen Rio: 4:41.

Feels grand and epic
Will it ever be the original theme? No. But that's not the point - Lengendary and Wingard want these movies to have their own identity, and I think this Goji theme does a great job of doing that that while also paying homage to the original Toho themes. Don't get me wrong, hearing the original themes like we did in KotM is always gonna be a nostalgic rush, but I do think ultimately going off in their own way is the best long term move - remember, the MonsterVerse was originally going to end at GvK, but now that its going forward, why not forge its own path? Plus it's not exactly like this theme sucks imo
The best I’ve heard this theme was in the opening credits of Godzilla Vs Kong especially with Godzilla’s roar half way through it
I'm hyped for this movie soundtrack aint the best but its alright and it doesn't matter if bear should have been back or anything! This movie alone should make up for the (Decent) Soundtrack! People debating over the soundtrack should accept the fact that the MonsterVerse is going in its own path. And from what I have seen so far.. its a good direction! (My Opinion)

3:25 and 4:26 are godzilla's demon theme. Also you cannot tell that they are not the same, still like it though
i prefer this over the version in gvk, this gives more classic godzilla vibes than that off-brand copyright free version in the previous film
I really wish that they'd use Godzilla's original theme in these movies..King of the Monsters used it (remixed) and It was soooo great hearing it in an American made Gojira film.

Great Compilation! But sheesh junkie XL. 8 songs for the movie, and it took fusing all of them together to assemble a vaguely coherent theme for one of the title monsters in the movie... yeeesh. Legendary, please bring back Bear or get literally any other composer to work on this. Please.

In my opinion, Alexandre Desplat did better with the theme than Bear Mccreary did, and so did Tom Holkenborg with the GVK soundtrack, cry about it.
(Edit: I’m not saying Bear Mccreary did bad, he did really good, but I think Alexandre D. and Tom H. Did better with the themes than Bear did.)

Where is the music when Godzilla rises up out of the frozen ice. I remember it being an epic choral version of his theme then, but I can't rekindle it being on the soundtrack. Is that piece of music unreleased?

The only issue i have is 2:38. Does not fit godzilla breaking out of the ice. But maybe it does and i just need to see it in the movie

I feel like GxK had the weakest ost out of the bunch. Sure there are some standout tracks like Egypt and Frozen Rio but I miss Godzilla’s classic theme.
