I live in Scotland and I thought I would give you a little update. It has not snowed this year so all the plants and animals are thinking it is spring. Edinburgh has not changed much in two years, there has only been minor changes and we Scots are doing fine. Thanks for making my day better x ❤️
Oh Mary, Oh Peter, you guys make my days so much brighter it's amazing. I finally got my aerobic yoga swing set up in my attic, and I've been doing it for at least ten minutes daily, for the last week! I struggle with chronic pain and fatigue, and this is amazing progress for me! So grateful 🎉💖💕
I too suffer with chronic pain! I am amazed some days when I just MAKE IT THROUGH the day. Kudos to you for 10 min. It may not seem like much to some...but to me, you are training for a marathon girl!!!

It's so good that you two can keep your sense of humor! Maybe put your pillow in a kitchen garbage bag to keep it from getting wet if the tube leaks, then wrap it in a towel so your face doesn't get sweaty from the plastic and then put it in the pillowcase.
Mary you should contact your enteral feeding team. I have a friend who was having issues with her extension popping off and they gave her this fancy little contraption that clips over the extension and holds it all together. Im not sure if maybe the fit wouldn't work with the relizorb cartridge there but its worth a try! You are making me kinda glad that when mine pops open it isn't all over my face and hair haha 💜
I know someone who had a J tube placed with local anesthetic. Is that a possibility for you? She didn't have to go under completely, they used a scope that they placed down her esophagus but just used a local anesthetic and I believe some Valium to keep her relaxed but not out? The surgery required such small incisions that they didn't need to put her completely under and the procedure just took about an hour from what I remember. A drain tube for my mother when she had major ascites also didn't require complete sedation. I wonder if that's an option if this is something that has to be more permanent? I'm sure your doctors know more than me though. Sorry if I sound ridiculous. Sending lots of love~

Mary check on etsy. I've seen custom hats with moveable Velcro fabric pockets that you can put the cartridge in or sort of tuck it in the hat. Not sure if something like that would work for you?!

Mary, To protect your nose from the friction of the feeding tube, rub a dab of Lansinoh HPA Lanolin ointment on the skin where the rubbing occurs. It provides a non-petroleum based lubricant. This product is in a light lavender tube sold in the baby and nursing mother department of any store. It is primarily used to relieve nursing mother's sore nipples. About $7.00. I wear a CPAP nose pillow when I sleep and it works great and will not adversely react with the tubing material.
I frequently get nosebleeds at night. To protect my pillow I sewed a layer of terry cloth between fleece and minky (super soft fabric). I put that over my pillow and when I have a nosebleed I just have to take that off and put my clean one on.
I just want to say you are inspiring. I'm from England so every night before bed (getting ready for bed, which takes forever for myself)I watch your videos. I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (combined with other chronic conditions) which causes severe pain and dislocations and my Gastro specialist mentioned in the future there's a chance I'll need a feeding tube because it affects the organs as well. Your videos are so amazing, each night I make sure to watch your videos because I think if you can get through the day, then so can I! You two are so amazing together and you show that with the right person you get support, I'm lucky as I have my hubby to support me and help me relocate my hips etc, you guys just make me smile!
maybe you could feed it through a zip lock and tape to the tube so if it leaks, most (or all) would be in the bag. Nusres have done that for IVs and/or casts during showers to keep them dry, so it should work the other way, too. :)
That's a really good idea. Or I wonder if they can increase the volume during the day and then just clamp it off at night? That way it won't leak. But maybe she has to have it running all night...

I just wanted to stop by and say thank you. I'm saying thank you because when I found you guys a few months ago on RUclips it had been a rough time in my life because it had been 5 years since my mom had passed away and I had lost almost all of my faith because I felt like I had given up hope on trying to be happy. I felt like gods plan wasn't a happy one for me and I had kind of given up hope and then I found you guys and you made/make me happy and seeing how much you guys fully trust god and the plan that he has made me realize that I should be the same way. I learned that god has a plan for me just like he does for everyone else. You guys inspire me and make me have hope! So I just want to say thank you!

Mary, I think God wanted me to find you site a few months ago because today I had an elective surgery scheduled and they had to cancel due to the fact the anesthesiologist found that I had an abnormal EKG. Thinking about what you go through daily, I'm just singing in my head " Do what you think you can't do" . Going to cardiologist tomorrow to see how we move forward with this news.
With my PEGJ (yes I had a feeding tube in my abdomen that went to my stomach and my jejunum) I was awake when they put it in. They gave me versed to relax me and of course numbed it but I was awake. Maybe you could talk to them about that down the road.. Thank you again for the wonderful STRONG example you set for so many! You do rock your tube!

amen! I had Bell's palsy (one-sided facial paralysis) a few years ago. Fortunately it was only really obvious for about six weeks. When there's nothing you can do about it, you can't let it spoil your day!

I wear a Cpap mask at night to sleep....my new nickname became Hannibel Lecter because of the not so nice resemblance .....I sleep so well with it I don't care......however I did scare my older (we are old) brother at 3 in the morning on the way to the bathroom..I unhook the air hose but leave the mask on.....my house, my rules on proper night time attire...... I am amazed by the strength you have Mary,and admire both of you for what you do and how well you do it.....and you always make me smile.....so thank you for that too.
Hi Mary! It may be helpful to use a longer extension. My son is 11 and has a gtube. He uses a longer extension at night. I think with the longer extension, the Y port will not be right behind your head. Also, they make a piece that secures the connection between the bag and the extension tube to prevent it from coming loose. Your supply company should be able to help you. Wish you the very best!
I pray that the NJ tube stays in and doesn't come out...seriously Mary... you are improving. We can see it in your eyes and in your smile and even in your voice. You are not as weak. I know Peter is so ecstatic! Those of us who watch your vlog daily could see you losing the weight and it was a little bit overwhelming. Luckily I have quite good health but I've got a skin desease since birth. Your vlog helps me to get out of my bed on painful days, so thank you! Don't know if you have washable pillows, but My Pillows are and very durable---glad you have a new functioning washer and praying for resolution of leaking issues!
Mary and Peter.....look into 'Tender Grips'....it's tape used to hold nasal canulas in place for oxygen users. It's easier on your skin, then you can put the stronger tape over it. :)

Glad to see you are much better, my sisters friend had cf i can still remember the coughing and all as a kid, she would spend the night and my sister would pound her back, she was a true fighter, and married a guy with cf, this was back in the late 80's, so things have sure changed

Hey Peter, what my mum does with the carrots is to pop them into the rice pot with the rice. That way, they'll both be cooking together and done at the same time. And a Chinese secret to fried rice is to use overnight rice. Tastes nicer. ;)

sarahfebruary her stomach can't hold very much at a time which is why the feeds need to run during the day as well as overnight.
J feeds can only run so fast since the intestines don't absorb that fast.

Hi Mary! It may be helpful to use a longer extension. My son is 11 and has a gtube. He uses a longer extension at night. I think with the longer extension, the Y port will not be right behind your head. Also, they make a piece that secures the connection between the bag and the extension tube to prevent it from coming loose. Your supply company should be able to help you. Wish you the very best!
I pray that the NJ tube stays in and doesn't come out...seriously Mary... you are improving. We can see it in your eyes and in your smile and even in your voice. You are not as weak. I know Peter is so ecstatic! Those of us who watch your vlog daily could see you losing the weight and it was a little bit overwhelming. Luckily I have quite good health but I've got a skin desease since birth. Your vlog helps me to get out of my bed on painful days, so thank you! Mary and Peter.....look into 'Tender Grips'....it's tape used to hold nasal canulas in place for oxygen users. It's easier on your skin, then you can put the stronger tape over it. :)

Glad to see you are much better, my sisters friend had cf i can still remember the coughing and all as a kid, she would spend the night and my sister would pound her back, she was a true fighter, and married a guy with cf, this was back in the late 80's, so things have sure changed

Hey Peter, what my mum does with the carrots is to pop them into the rice pot with the rice. That way, they'll both be cooking together and done at the same time. And a Chinese secret to fried rice is to use overnight rice. Tastes nicer. ;)
