I drove the new Equinox EV yesterday and it was impressive, smooth and quiet. This was the 3RS FWD. It could use a little more power but it was OK. I liked the styling exterior and especially interior, much much better looking than a Tesla.
+500 points for not having the interior look like a spaceship and with proper HVAC controls! I have no doubt that when I eventually buy an EV, it will be from one of the well-known automakers and not one of the EV startups.
I guess but I don't really like how the price difference between the base model and the next level is like 7 grand.... Its really shady how if you want anything better than the base its going to be 40,000 dollars.... Normally people tend to get something in the middle.
Nice! EV owner for 6 years minimal maintenance, Zero gas, smog check, tires in great shape, no oil changes, zero brake wear. Drive 80 miles per day. Charge at home. Have a Toyota hybrid for trips above 800 miles, maybe 1 to 2 times per year. Love my EV.
$27k for the 1lt base model not the RS that they’re showing acting like it’s $27k. The one in the video will be $45k minimum AFTER the 7500 tax credit so, pretty misleading. I doubt the 27k 1lt will have any worthwhile features as that’s just their guinea pig they’re using to advertise their nice new “cheap ev for the masses”
This answer is late, and you probably heard it by now, so I apologize if this is old news. The 27k price is based off of the 1LT model that isn't out yet. It releases later this year.
It’s a good looking ev, but I decided to get a 2018Chevy Volt for $19k, with leather seats, apple car play, heated seats etc. These new evs or hybrids cost close to 30k or more with no leather seats. The Volt is a fantastic car, this Blazer looks great as well.
Its why I love it. If I want to transition to electric I'd like to do it with a car that looks familiar. Not a drastic change from a car to an iPad in my face.

The designer took the CAD file for the Model 3, stretched the roof up, hit "Save As", renamed file "Model Y," and there you have it. The entire design process for the Model Y. The best job in the world must be a designer at Tesla. I have never seen a lazier attempt at designing a car. They didn't even try to better distinguish the Y from the 3 and to this day I can barely tell them apart.
Base versions aren’t available yet. If the vehicle you’re looking at is priced in the $40k’s that’s not a *base model* Equinox. I believe 2RS loaded is around $43k. 1LT trims should start arriving to dealers by end of the year.

@@CarConfections As much as I like the look of the 21 inch wheels, I am curious at how it will affect the range compared to the 19 inch. I wish Chevy gave that option instead of forcing the 21 inch on those upper trim levels.
@chrisjacobs7857 where are you located? I put a down-payment at my local dealer back in February and they told me it will be here on or before May 22nd and when I called last week they told me it's been pushed back till.June 3rd or sometime in June. I'm in NJ
I’ve sold this EV to 4 people already. It has been their first EV experience and they all love it so far. The combination of familiarity and innovation, packed into a slick looking vehicle really helps people transition what’s they learn what EV is about.
Great review. I hope I can manage to pick one up soon myself. This thing hits the range (over 300), charge (30 min or less), and price (under 36k) metrics for majority ev adoption. Just need to get the word out and GM to make enough of them .
Just looking at size and overall look, it seems so similar to the Blazer EV. What's the purpose of having two types and models so similar within one brand?

A US infrastructure that actually works for EV drivers is the answer... traveling cross-country in the US in an EV is an absolute NIGHTMARE... NO THANKS... EVs are only for daily commuters, once you need to go anywhere, you are quickly going to miss having a Gas or Hybrid vehicle, EV's add huge downtimes and detours to any cross-country trip... the US just isn't ready for EVs... the infrastructure isn't there.
@@wolfshanze5980 I saw a post on Reddit where someone asked if there are any households that are 100% EV. I was surprised at how many people said they were and they bragged about taking their EV's cross-country without any problems, and most didn't own Teslas. I don't think what you are saying is accurate anymore. I think the US has built out a good EV freeway infrastructure. I think the gap is with apartment dwellers and individuals that can't charge at home.

There are still infrastructure issues for sure (e.g.Wyoming) but it's never stopped me from road tripping my EVs, and I've owned 5 different OEMs in the last 12 years. I currently have a Mustang Mach-E and it's a fantastic road tripper because it's really comfortable and can charge at literally EVERY charging station in the country including all Tesla superchargers.

When I watched the video and saw the car I though it was an Porsche Macaan V. But it was the Equinox. Nice job to GM for having a nice looking vehicle.
The only thing that stops me from getting one this weekend is that it can’t tow 2500 pounds. 😢 That’s the only thing I think they missed the mark on for me since a model Y can tow 3500. I was hoping for 2500 out of this. Oh well. I figured since the Blazer EV does not have a good row rating either unless you go for a RWD model.
BEV3 platform underpins all of *gm’s* two row EV crossovers. I still can’t believe they are sharing this platform with Honda. Honda must be paying *gm* well for this because Ultium is their most prized possession and what will keep them in a lead position.
I wouldn't wish an EV on my child. Long charge times, detoured road trips because of no infrastructure for EVs... you finally get to a charging station, they're broken... long recharge times... why would anyone wish this on their child? You want to be nice to your child, get them a Hybrid or PHEV.
Also, the full tax credit is available only for SUVs having MSRPs less than $80K. Again, I don't think you have to worry when it comes to getting the full credit, at least upon launch.
Do the rear brake light/turn signal light combination change colors from red to/from amber? In this video they look like they do but it could be a camera effect.

As a Tesla Model Y owner, this looks like a good option, though the model tested is about $41,000 before a tax credit. Dealers have notoriously adding markups, so a $5000 "market adjustment" would be unwise
Very nice looking beautiful, Chevy is doing a pretty damn good job with their electrical vehicles on how they look, unlike Tesla. Sorry I'm not a Tesla fan.

Honestly, how good/bad is the sound system. As far as I can see, its a 6 speaker system with no subwoofer used for all trims. A vehicle that can top out over $50k still deserves the option of a good sound system.
I was just about to tell my aunt and uncle to get a used Model S however after watching this video I’m impressed. I think I will suggest the base model Equinox EV instead especially considering the significant incentives (and good amount of features for the price).
Decent specs for this price point, except for the low peak charging speed of 150kw. I think in 2024, peak charging speeds for a new EV should be much higher, to make road trips easier.

I've been watching your reviews lately and really one measurement you are not getting in the cargo area is the measurement between the wheel wells. To me, this measurement is more important then the measurement at the opening and with the curved opening that measurement is not as accurate as what you have between the wheel wells.
*You* should rethink this. *gm* has already done their thinking that’s why they went to Google for their latest version of software. You no longer need Apple CarPlay in new *gm* products.
It looks like every other chevy. It has the same steering wheel, the same front end, as the chevy truck ev. Chevy has streamline their vehicles so they all look alike. There used to be differences in the interiors of a 100k Tahoe. Now, the Tahoe, the traverse, the blazer, the trailblazer, the Trax all have very similar front end designs, they all have or will have in 2025 the same steering wheel, very similar interiors. I bought my Tahoe's because I liked their interiors back in 2006 from the Chevy S-10 blazer that I had a time. You look closely at the design, they are getting more and more alike!

Where did you get the $27k price? That’s $34.5k, pre-rebate. Chevy website states starting at $41.9k.

Double-check on the Adaptive Cruise. It seems it is not available on the LT2 without buying the Super Cruise option for $2700.

2LT is available now and 1LT is the base trim which will be available sometime before the end of the year to get you that lowest price

They have recently changed the rules so that you should be able to get the discount immediately at the point of sale

To me, this measurement is more important then the measurement at the opening and with the curved opening that measurement is not as accurate as what you have between the wheel wells.
Looks great, but no Apple CarPlay is a huge concern for me. I’m not buying a car without CarPlay. GM should really rethink this.
It has embedded Google map and apps you can download. No need for CarPlay
*You* should rethink this. *gm* has already done their thinking that’s why they went to Google for their latest version of software. You no longer need Apple CarPlay in new *gm* products.
And charge you monthly for the Google base system. Maybe free for a couple of years but that's it! Then they want your money 😢

It looks like every other chevy. It has the same steering wheel, the same front end, as the chevy truck ev. Chevy has streamline their vehicles so they all look alike. There used to be differences in the interiors of a 100k Tahoe. Now, the Tahoe, the traverse, the blazer, the trailblazer, the Trax all have very similar front end designs, they all have or will have in 2025 the same steering wheel, very similar interiors. I bought my Tahoe's because I liked their interiors back in 2006 from the Chevy S-10 blazer that I had a time. You look closely at the design, they are getting more and more alike!
How is this better than the Bolt EUV??? The Bolt EUV starts at $27K and you can have Apple/Android auto.
