Hey Tessa/ ModernGurlz! If you are ok with video requests, would really love to see you analyse the style evolution of Lady Gaga/ Stephanie. Looking at how her fashion was a response to her s/a and her reaction to political or social attitudes. As well as of course her albums influencing her work. I think it would be interesting to explore how she became big with A Star is Born, and people 'took her seriously' when she didn't have the camp and outrageous costumes, but how the fashion was very truthful and helped to connect with the LGBTQ+ community and representing the troubles of being a woman. Showing the interesting point of how when Gaga reflected the Male and heteronormative gaze, she was more respected... hmmm... It would be a really great video to see! ❤️
One of the things that stands out to me about Rihanna as a businesswoman is that her brands feel like extensions of herself. By showing for years how passionate she was about makeup and clothes, it felt so genuine when she ventured into those spaces, like it just made sense. It's that genuineness that makes her so likeable, instead of feeling like it's a cash grab, it feels like a passion project.
this is what i mean when i say Rihanna is the last IT girl! Not only is her fashion experimental but the influence she has had on people can't be denied. when she had that red hair, almost everyone followed her lead, when she got the tattoo on her chest and also when she shaved one side of her hair people followed. that's the true definition of an IT girl.
Yess yess!! Plus when she wore that sheer dress dress everyone started wearing sheer dresses, when she confidently showed of her baby bump now everybody follows. IT GIRL
the biggest fashion icon of the century!!! from her face to her outfit, she always serves a look! even when i think i found an outfit of hers i don't like, a minute later im like "nah she pulled this off" lol
One other artist that their style should be analyzed is LADY GAGA, she is very experimental with her fashions but to her FASHION is seen as a medium where she could speak in a different way and her style has become so diverse and I do think that she would be a great contender for this!
What makes Rihanna iconic is her Confidence in any stage of her life. One of the very few celebs who doesn't hide when her body changes and she embraces aging , she found style and she is unstoppable. That's why she's Iconic!
Rihanna is one of those people that gonna be talked about even 50 years from now. I‘m sure that when 2020 inspirations gonna roll around and dominate the future eras people gonna mentioning her styling as a quintessential inspiration, the same we we talk about Aliyah today
I do genuinely appreciate both pregnacy fashion eras. Especially the first. She's right! Being pregnant should not restrict women's right to look however they want! So sick of the idea that mothers have to look a certain way in order to be acceptable.
I feel like hair in general was monumental for RiRi. It allowed Morph into who she wanted to be at that time. As a black girl it really does set the look. When you know what looks good on you and the right blueprints on what doesn’t everything falls in place to create that look.
One other artist that their style should be analyzed is LIL KIM, she paved the way for so many female artists and her looks she wore decades ago are still being replicated till this day! it's sad that CFDA don't want to give Lil Kim the fashion icon award even tho she paved the way for the likes of Rihanna, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga
@chuuzus there is a video that RUclipsr shanspeare did breaking down the « ghetto fabulous » style and it discusses lil Kim a lot, so that may be of interest to yall!!
I would just like to note that Rihanna's hair styles are clearly indicative of her style changes throughout the years, but that it also not that difficult for African American women to transition between hair styles. Braids, twists, wigs, weaves crochets, perms and heat treatment makes transition simple and easy. what impresses me is that she consistently kept these hair styles over these long periods!
Thank you, I find it super easy for Black Women to just switch it up. Rihanna was just None-Black People’s introduction to that, which shows you how segregated and how much people ignore Black Women (but would be happy enough to steal from them!).
Her look for Victoria's secret show is a serve of the century. One big blogger in my country even said she watches this show before big events to gain confidence
As a non-american, i first really got to observe Rihanna's style around Unapologetic era, and the impact it had on teen me has been irreversible. Love this series!!!
Her Rated R era needs to be discussed and praised more. Being a black emo girl seeing Rihanna with that haircut had me running to the salon and so many black women no matter the age went to get "The Rihanna look" Same with her Loud Era. The way i immediately went to the beauty supply for red bundles 😂 Like her looks and her hair will go down in history
It cannot be overstated how much badgalriri had a chokehold on my 2010-2015 personal style - the saved tumblr posts of the Talk that Talk era must have been through the roof. I LOVED her Coachella style especially because it could be replicated! Her weed bride Halloween costume will always be my personal Riri pinnacle 🙌 great job as always MG!
The absolute and ultimate quote for her is "anything she put on her body is instantly amazing and perfect, and only Rihanna can pull it off EVERY SINGLE TIME!!" I love RIhanna so much!
I always liked Rihanna’s style. She can be beautiful without being trashy and it's crazy she's been around for nearly 20 years. I'm glad she's doing well with her Fenty company and being a mom. Hopefully, she’ll release an album soon, if not, then I will still support her.
I also forgot to mention about the whole Rihanna and Chris Brown situation, I’m glad Rihanna didn't get the Tina Turner treatment because if you watch any interview with Tina, especially after she left Ike, 90% of her interviews were all about Ike and you could tell how uncomfortable she felt.
I'm so happy you made this video!! I live in Barbados right now and I just visited Rihanna's childhood home last week! Its crazy to see the small house she grew up in compared to the beautiful resort home she has on the island now. Also the Bajan community loves her. I was listening to a local tell me how she usually comes home for Crop Over (a celebration for the end of harvest season but think like Brazil's Carnival style outfits) and loves to dance with everyone. He said that one time her body guard started to yell at people to back off and not get so close to her and she said "no these are my people, they would never hurt me." and shes right, the people here are so kind and while they love her and everything she has done for their nation, they don't swarm her or beg for autographs and pictures like we do in the US. They know when she's home and love to talk her with her but she still gets a sense of normalcy here and I can't imagine how refreshing that must be.
Rihanna has changed and defined fashion in so many ways but the absolute power move of how she redefined what maternity style looks like is something I could go on about for hourrrrrsss
Can I just say, dicsovering this channel has been such a GIFT! The amount of effort you put into each video doesn't go unnotice - from one fashion lover to another, THANK YOU!!!!
The most prominent yet understated IT girl of our collective generation. Every style era felt authentic even in her young budding years. Personal favorites include Good Girl Gone Bad, Loud, Anti, and her Fenti boss b*tch styling. Effortless, timeless and trendsetting.🖤
This is such an awesome, in-depth video. I grew up as an alt Black girl and wanted to experiment with hair color. Rihanna's red hair and black pixie cuts were HUGE inspirations for me. It was such a helpful middle finger to the "Black girls can't do hair color or be emo" message I always got. Plus, I finally had a sample picture I could show a beautician lol.
i’m not a fan but she’s an amazing artist, I love her confidence, her style that stills that “rihanna” thing, her vibes!!! is so 2000s ! she’s definitely an icon
I'm so happy that Style Evolution is back! Love these videos. In my opinion, Rihanna is one a those celebrities that looks good in pretty much anything. Like, she can pull-off any outfit no matter the style, color, cut, fit, etc. She's that versatile. If I may suggest other celebrities for future videos, I think Lady Gaga and/or Ariana Grande have iconic and distinguishable looks/styles that have been evolving through the years. I'd love to see a Style Evolution video on these two.
Rihanna’s style (especially her hair) was an inspiration to me since she did her first asymmetrical bob then pixie cut, even if I was too insecure to take the leap myself at that time. I love your analysis of her motherhood looks because you’re right, there’s an expected way for pregnant women to dress and I love that she pushed the envelope both times. I could only hope to have a sliver of her confidence one day whenever I become pregnant myself.
I got so excited when i saw this video pop up......i absolutely love my girl RIRI's style more then any other pop star.Thank you for this video Can you also please do an AALIYAH STYLE EVOLUTION PLEASEEEE
Can you please please do Britney Spears in the future?? Her look has evolved so much since she first started 25 years ago!! I adore your channel and can’t wait to watch your new videos☺️
I would love a Style evolution on Beyonce.I feel like when it comes to Stage outfits specifically there are few people who can hold up with her.The Destiny's Child era had so many gems as well.
got a little bit emotional watching this and having so many memories associated with rihanna throughout all of my adolescence. this made me realize how much she has really inspired me and so many others. i remember so many of these looks and the music videos too. she’s such an icon and i love seeing her personal style being so black and alternative at the same time.
a video i never even knew i needed! genuinely feel like rihanna's career should be studied by future artists for a millennia. I've always been in awe in her ability to adapt to the current market and remain relevant regardless of the current trends. she's a chameleon. with the consistent quality of always bringing her A game

I was never really into pop or hip hop growing up but I have always admired her style. I think that says a lot about her icon-ness! Watching this recap and seeing her outfits and thinking wow I would totally wear that today is also evidence of that.
As someone who doesn't care for the mainstream I have loads of respect for Rihanna because she pushes boundaries in a good way and is very influential. I hope she's enjoying her family and look forward to see what she does next ❤
i LOVE your Taylor swift, Miley Cyrus, and Rihanna style evolution vids, can you please make one on Ariana Grande next??❤️ especially with her entering a new era with her upcoming album
It would be interesting to see this done with male artists like Harry Styles or Justin Beiber, even though it’ll be so different in how male fashion typically is.
Thank you for this!! Rihanna is an icon!!!!! The outfits were so stunning i had to pause to appreciate multiple looks!!! Such a great analysis once again.. please continue this content.. love the work Please please do Ariana next video too
I became aware of rhianas incredibly cool style on 2012s STYLED TO ROCK a fashion competition similar to project runway where contestants competed to design rhianas looks for some important event. Rhianas was also a judge. It seems pretty obscure but if you can find it it’s a pretty fun watch !!
“Edgy Hip-Hop beginnings”Just because she’s Black doesn’t mean she started in Hip-Hop. She didn’t even do anything that connected with Hip-Hope until a decade in her career. 💀

savage x fenty is owed by bunch of white men and she is only the face of it
I agree ❤
Completely agree. I get why other celebs have gone into the makeup or skincare game after Fenty, but none feel as genuine as Rihanna having done it.
Beautifully, beautifully said.
I love how Rihanna has risen from strength to strength, and doesn't let anything stop her from succeeding. This is clearly reflected in her style.
Her red hair era was everything
I recently bought a wig that looks like the one from her Only Girl video. Just had to lol.
"She's using her child as an accessory"
The child is INSIDE her. What is she supposed to do? Leave her pregnancy at home?? 😂
I suppose so 😂
she gotta take it off like velcro
Lmao "Lemme detach this little guy and put him in his pod real quick."
this is what i mean when i say Rihanna is the last IT girl! Well said!!! Rihanna is definitely the last IT girl, she was an individual with exquisite experimental style!! I loved all her eras
Rihanna's Victoria's Secret Show look is etched into my brain it is SO. GOOD.
EDIT: also the Fashion Awards Swarowski outfit is just insane
One other artist that their style should be analyzed is LADY GAGA, she is very experimental with her fashions but to her FASHION is seen as a medium where she could speak in a different way and her style has become so diverse and I do think that she would be a great contender for this!
Ughh yes!! Would love to see a video on the evolution of Lady Gaga’s style!
I feel she could do an entire video on just camp looks.
Yeah I'd love to see her style breakdown!
That's a fantastic idea...Lady Gaga, please!!!
Oh yes please a Gaga analysis!!! ❤

That's why I love Halloween pregnancy costumes lol. There are so many fun possibilities!
Right!! I think the pregnant belly should be incorporated into the looks! You only have it for 9 months after all.
It's so weird to me how people realize that now after she did it because I thought that's common sense😅
I feel like hair in general was monumental for RiRi. It allowed Morph into who she wanted to be at that time. As a black girl it really does set the look. When you know what looks good on you and the right blueprints on what doesn’t everything falls in place to create that look.

People can only dream to look as good in a pixie cut as Rihanna did

@@sundaylibreno it doesn’t. She’s Caribbean. That dismisses her culture and upbringing. I wish Americans could change that title.
@@sundaylibreshes Caribbean but also shares some irish ancestry thats why shes so light skin
It’s amazing how many past Rihanna looks still feel so HER.

she is THE fashion girl, loved this one
Man, I don't know if it's just me, and she looks amazing in everything, but Rihanna glows in soft pastel colors.
Her Rated R era needs to be discussed and praised more.
Being a black emo girl seeing Rihanna with that haircut had me running to the salon and so many black women no matter the age went to get "The Rihanna look"

The "hot mess" notes during the sponsorship had me cackling.
Rihanna was millennial’s Zendaya. I always was inspired by her style and confidence and she has some of the most beautiful skin I’ve ever seen.
Ugh, I LIVE for Zendaya!😩

Thank you! I will teach my pre-teen daughter Rhianna’s great advice for listening to an always changing body.
Can we go one of these videos on madonna or Diana Ross next? Or since you mentioned Aaliyah I would love to see a video on her as well.

Amazing work on this video!! 👏🏾👏🏾 I am a huge fan on Rihanna’s style and I love that she continues to reinvent her image. I really enjoyed watching each era in a cohesive, chronological order. Let’s appreciate how much effort were put into this video 🩷 excellent work, such a detailed analysis, I’m amazed!
that would have been so much hard work to produce this video! I am so grateful for your dedication and hope you get rewarded accordingly.
Such a well put together video
How can anyone not like rihanna, i truely believe she is a once in a lifetime kind of person
I loved her Loud era and talk that talk era a lot
Literally the only celebrity I had an obsession with and it did truly start with her power and eye for style. The only celebrity I saw and wanted to BE damn near.
I was never really into pop or hip hop growing up but I have always admired her style. I think that says a lot about her icon-ness! Watching this recap and seeing her outfits and thinking wow I would totally wear that today is also evidence of that.
Oh my gosh, Gwen Stefan is one of my ultimate favorites! I'd love to see you do a video about her style one day!
As someone who doesn't care for the mainstream I have loads of respect for Rihanna because she pushes boundaries in a good way and is very influential. I hope she's enjoying her family and look forward to see what she does next ❤
I think these style evolution videos are my favourite type of video that you make. Can't wait to watch ! 💖💖💖
This was so fun!! Would love more celebrity analysis videos!

I have 3 words for this video: Oh My God!!!
I’m glad you pointed out about the good girl gone bad era. Every other pop star gets flack for going sexy or abrupt change.
Love these style evolution videos! I hope you guys make more! Maybe one for Beyoncé or Aaliyah maybe
i can see how much work went into this video. good job girls
i LOVE your Taylor swift, Miley Cyrus, and Rihanna style evolution vids, can you please make one on Ariana Grande next??❤️ especially with her entering a new era with her upcoming album
Rated R is my all time favorite fashion moments from her.
It was the most cohesive.
I didn’t love all of the fashion in the Loud era but the hair and the makeup to me is the sexiest I’ve ever seen maybe anywhere on anyone
Love rihannas london ear. And diamonds tour ear. Loved it! She was at her highest.
She’s so smart and beautiful! I’m very proud of her!
Did you review the Rihanna book for this video? I kinda want to get it eventually as a coffee table book.
Thank you so much for this thorough analysis! Love!!! ❤️❤️❤️
it would be cool to see video about Cher's fashion
Such a great analysis!! Thank you❤️❤️
When I was 14 back in 2007, I wanted that oblique bob that Rihanna had in the Umbrella music video so bad. My hairdresser did not give it to me, sadly
I love these videos they’re so well laid out and presented. Amazing job!
It would be interesting to see this done with male artists like Harry Styles or Justin Beiber, even though it’ll be so different in how male fashion typically is.
Justin's Purpose era was 👌
my top 5 fav style eras ranked: 1.unapologetic
2.anti
