This was so incredibely touching. I was wondering why it made me tear up when I listened to Misha expressing his gratitude and love for Alex' parents in NZ. As I am Russian myself, I want to share that being in touch with your emotions and able to be vulnerable in front of others, is not a typical characteristic of Russian men but rather challenging - Misha's words really mean a lot.

    Alex would
You please do a video FOR RUSSIAN viewers on importance of adopting and on supporting young mothers. In Russia there is a stigma against adoption and many families (men especially) are resistant to the idea of adoption. If more Russians adopted there would be less abandoned children in orphanages. This message is so important especially in light that Russia has closed adoption to many countries including the USA, and many children never get adopted. Also there is a lot of corruption in many Russian orphanages where directors don’t want children adopted because it means poor job security and thus are not helpful to the adoption process for locals. Большое спасибо ! You are an amazing man!!!

I've watched several of your videos and I have to say that it is quite difficult for me to comprehend how you manage to navigate the roller coaster of emotions that must exist, yet you seem to do it with great panache and compassion for everyone involved. Your story is inspiring and your example for others is a true role model. You approach the entire journey with positive energy and it doesn't seem to sway you when the audience members of the TV show of your other video became so vocal toward your birth mother. You recognized the need to wrap your arm around her and that gesture was a volumous gesture. I admire you.

Made me weep. This past year I had a similiar experience with the discovery of a new-found cousin. She had been kept a secret for 45 years! I found her on ancestry. She had been put up for adoption by my cousin who was just 17 when she gave birth. Abandoned by her boyfriend, fatherless (my uncle had died 4 years before) and abandoned by her own mother (my uncle's wife) when she got pregnant, she had no choice but to give up her child. My new cousin was looking for any biological relative. I wrote to her and she told me her story. I put her in touch with her aunt, who as it turned out, had no idea that she had a niece (she was only 8 when her niece was born). Unfortunately, her mother cannot bring herself to meet her own daughter. She had been too traumatized. Anyway, my new cousin visited at Easter with her little daughter. It was absolutely wonderful; as though we had never been apart. I told her that we are family and that is that! It has been a wonderful journey.

Another enjoyable video Alex. I can understand your father's anxiety about you're coming to visit him the first time. From out of the blue, he hears from someone half way around the world that he has a son. It must have seemed unreal and when you made your trip, he was probably apprehensive about what he would be seeing. What if you didn't look like him and his hopes that he truly had a son were dashed? It would have been both a terrible disappointment and difficult to cope with. When he first laid eyes on you, all his doubts were washed away. This was apparent by the greeting you received from him. You were his biological son! A gift he could never had foreseen.

If you have a clean clear line of your roots you wouldn’t understand... until you feel his pain you won’t get it. I believe his parents have a very secure relationship with him. And now as he is grown up he gets to journey through this very painful tho joyful discovery. We can only hope his mother will have some internal healing as she comes to terms with her decision. I almost wonder if she is still in love with his father, couldn’t accept his love at the time and ran off, only to give away a wonderful son in part due to her own brokenness.
