Pires was an outstanding player for Arsenal, I don't think there's any Gooner who didn't love Pires as a player (remarkable considering the divisive fan base). Wenger let him leave too early and he went on to be an excellent player for Villarreal too.
Rooney should be on this list, he played all over the pitch and sacrificed so much of his own individual success for the good of the team and his teammates, just look at Ronaldo and RVP for example
